I wake to read this morning that FRK is pushing ahead to the WFA KT this coming weekend and Pontiff booked to ride ,Brad Rawiller couldnt get of quick enough to ride Niconero and Willie booked for El Danna ????? Why bother he beat Hadblekorka and Danny Beau home for 3rd in a photo i thought his run was just o.k still beaten a fair way from the REAL CHAMPIONS [ i love how in the Sunday times they write LOCAL CHAMPION MARASCO RAN 3RD ] that does my head in he aint no champion just a bloody good horse as far as im concerned he hasnt won a gr-1 so tell me what other state labels there n on gr-1 winners CHAMPIONS ???? a joke IMO-
FRK is clutching at Straws AGAIN with the IMPOSTER he wont run in the 1st 10 over 1800m he didnt hit the line overly well in the Railway he and Niconero took of together and Niconero beat him home by 4L cant possibly see how he is going to turn it around ,the weight differance in the KT from the Railway is only a 1.5k not enough , for the record Niconero to beat Gilded Venom

Niconero for me, but you can never question F. Kersley's ways. If Marasco wasn't hanging down the straight, last Saturday, he would of got a bit closer. Still, he ran a very quick last 600m. The first two were a class above over the distance. The WFA will only benefit him.
I tipped Gilded Venom in Practical Punting, but I'm jumping ship to get on Niconero. I reckon, if we didn't have the E.I. crisis last year, he could be going for the threepeat.

    niconero for me aswell.

    Niconero's the best value I reckon I've ever seen in a G1.

For me the run of Marasco on sat proved it, Niconero was pulling away from him in the Railway and was clearly lengths better, and Marasco ran a cracker IMHO on the weekend when the race wasn't run to suit at all (maybe Jags read some of the comments on the forum re Surprise Impact??).

I'm already on at the $6 and now at the $5. If I get better on the day not to worry as I'll just have more on.

Personally, I don't think he'll show value below 4/1. You have to remember, he's only won the once since the Fruit and Veg. I think he'll be around 9/2 to 5/1 on race day.

    Fair enough kerrin, but . . .

In the races he's contested since that day that he's suited to (namely Emirates, Epsom, George Main, Futurity & CF Orr), he's only failed once in the Epsom which was bottomless.

Was 2nd best run of the race in the Emirates, good in the George Main, won the Futurity and beaten a lip in the Orr. In the other races he's been in he's probably had excuses (unfit, high weight or in Dubai). Any of his performances in the races i listed above are good enough to comfortably win a F&V. In short - even though he hasn't won he's not exactly out of form.

He's without doubt the only WFA miler in the field. Couple that with the fact based on my methods he was the run of the race in the Railway by lengths, I'm pretty damn confident about the old guy - turns up in the same shape he was on Railway day he wins. WFA 1800m at Ascot fits into that bracket of suitable races.

Darkness, totally agree with you, but I'm not taking any shorter that $5.00. This race has Gilded Venom, (this boy could be something), Annekov and Sniper's Bullet, so it's no easy task.

I'd be giving him a week off and heading to the WFA Scahill - sure he probably won't win (pretty sure TT is staying for it) but he was coming home well in the Winterbottom and the 1400m is his pet distance!

3 tough runs in 14 days - I'd be taking the easier route and the more suited distance, but as everyone says FRK can do amzing things, so we'll just have to see!

heard on sydney radio this morning that gilded venom will be transferred to another trainer for his eastern states campaign due to steve not being able to leave home with the stud etc and his son needing constant care. truly a crying shame. seems like a really lovely bloke who has jagged a good one.

wonder who will get the horse? personally i'd like to see another perth trainer or a mayfield-smith type trainer get him not a hayes or freedman as he'd just be another number.

if the owners want to target a doncaster or races in sydney then G.A.Ryan has plenty of room   throwing it out there!

Im interested to see if Grand Nirvana runs - will be suited more at WFA and hopefully draws a better barrier

Blake the same connections & trainer had another good one in the early 90's Perfect Answer winner of six group & listed races - G3 Strickland G3 Belmont Guineas & I think won a country cup campaigning in Victoria. Worth a call mate nice people live in Dalyellup just down the road.

old man would never ring up and chase a horse. just not in his nature. reckon it cost him count chivas mid 90's. paper reports at the time were it was between him and freedman and freedy rang up and did the sell and old man took the approach of "if they really want me to train it they'll ring me". freedman got the horse and the rest is history. also probably the fact that he had won 2 melbounre cups already and the horse was a 2 miler helped the sell.
nothings changed he still wouldn't do it.
