besides the fact that you are talking nonsense, why do you care even if it were true?
don't you only frequent the carpark anyway?

Losing competition in the betting marketplace is a terrible thing for punters - it is only a short sighted good thing for owners.

If that bloke at the pub on a Friday night puts his $50 on Sports and not racing Damien - that is the first sign of the racing code sinking!

You only need look at the stats about where the punting dollar is going and sports is killing racing. Why???

In saying that, if Betfair can't (or don't see the need) to continue to operate under the new operational costs, then maybe their business model wasn't going to survive anyway!

You can't contribute (to sponsorship in this state) when the guys running the show won't talk to you!

Although, if they stop operating on our racing codse, it reminds me of the phrase 'cut off your nose to spite your face'.

Would be a little surprised if this turns out to be true as it

is only a week or two since they announced increased commission to cover

industry charges following the High Court ruling.

My punting is almost at a standstill, so it has almost no effect on me personally, but these people contribute nothing to the turnover that would have once gone to the TAB and in turn the Industry participants.

So to hell with them, I will drive the miserable bastards to the airport myself if required.

I very much doubt they'll leave. They are currently out cutting deals with new customers (and existing).
They just need to figure out how to make it profitable and keep their customers happy.

Weak effort if they leave taking their bat and ball and going home just keep tweaking the model until you make a profit they are big enough to do it.

Good source? The same good source that said BLACK CAVIAR went amiss and wont be returning to Adelaide?

betfair is not my flavour at the moment, but you need to stick to things you know and understand.

they do contribute, AND, turnover will be higher generally on the tabs because of bet backs and so forth.

you can apply your argument to the corporates too, but i just happen to know that along with certain betting syndicates they are actually the biggest contributors to tab turnover.

so be very careful what you wish for.

anyway i have no idea where bc found that but i think tony is correct.
  • Apprarently they will be concentrating on Europe

have recently done deals in Italy and Germany

Why would they put so many people off side by increasing comission only to pull out 2 months later?
  • maybe they have already seen a drop off in sales and decided Australia was not worth pursuing anymore

BEING TOLD THE RUMOUR IS INCORRECT NOW

someone was stirring the pot i think

I'm all for Betfair. Competition is great. The punter is the big winner. As long as they pay their way, good on 'em.
Here is an example. This Friday nights match between Melbourne and Hawthorn have prices like this.

    Player:
    Melbourne $12.50
    Hawks $1.02

    Betfair;
    Melbourne $17
    Hawks $1.06

Now, as a punter, why would you be loyal?
