The rail in true will take care of a few again on saturday
West Australian Racing
Its a pity the rail will be in the true with the case again being if u are not on the 3m pad u cant win again hope its different this weekend for punters but going on past most of the time this does not happen. As i wont be having abet will not worry me but will watch with interest.Ascot would have to be the only track in australia that runs most of its good races on a bias track because of the rail being in true.Good luck to all i hope it plays fair to all invovled and is a level playing feild for all.We live in hope.

It is a disgrace that so many of the feature race days are ruined here in Perth by the 'fast pad' on the inside with the rail back to the true position.
Pointless entering a horse unless you draw well.
it a weird weird place.
It will be charge of the light brigade. El Rijes, Miami Horror and DA to find the fence!
have no idea who though... :?
Mailman, just back the front runners if you're worried about the bias. Leave the good fight to the owners that own back markers!
and if they go like hell or not....mmmn it is wa so maybe that does not count!
and is a certain horse going to be up there this week if it starts?? please god say yes!
it was tomorrow, the horse i was thinking of, and how well it looked suited to my eyes, and its, well, it's scratched!
I gonna save my money and bet on Sundays. I always seem to have more fun.
I've been at the Ascot Saturday meetings 4 out of the last 6 weeks and over it.
there is no doubt the track had been off every time rail reverted to true.
perhaps they did something or other to try and alleviate the obvious after finally realising what was happening.
or maybe they just read mailman's post and the penny finally dropped.
Wonder if it might have been a good idea to release that info to the punters sometime before the racing began???? Or maybe it was and i just wasn't looking in the right area for that information!!!!!
Maybe next time they'll install some quicksand on the 3 metre pad, you know, to even it out, and not tell anyone about it before hand
Sure are doing a fine job of making it harder and harder to bet
telling the public after the event, is par for the course all over australia.
it is interesting though, how could they be sure that aerating it would have the desired outcome?
why was it never done previously, when every man and his dog could see the racing was patently unfair?
did it ensure the track was a level playing field, or did the leaders suffer consequences of it?
i am inclined to think leaders did worse than they normally do.
But i also agree about some of the front horses...what in the hell happened to Caiguna????
Just would be nice to know these sort of things on the track report...Dead 4, inside running positon aerated...
But it is easy after the event...It could get out of hand...would they then have to advise when weeded, sprayed, cut , etc, etc, etc....
Just an observation that in this instance it may have played a part on a fairly big day for the club. And it is obvious (now) that they did it in an attempt to soften up the inside running position, but didn't advise the betting public that they had done something that could've pottentially changed the racing pattern...
(I think when we redevelop, we're getting a like button).
Aside from protecting punters what happens if some connections in big races know more than others about exactly how the track has been prepared during the week. I am not saying this happened on the weekend, but lets face it racing organizations are hardly the 'tightest' organisations when it comes to keeping info in house. It wouldn't be a stretch for some connections to know someone at Perth racing / RWWA for example, or know a friend of the track managers who unknowingly passed on information that gave them an unfair advantage regarding the preparation of the track.
[/b]Can I emphasise that I am not suggesting this has happened on the weekend merely highlighting the potential for it to happen in the future if all information is not made available to everyone.
its info privy to some, which can be misused or used to advantage if it is leaked to some and not to others.
thats why they should publish anything they do to the track, on race morning.
I looked up the watering of the track Saturday morning and it said No Water Added 31/3 but the rating was Dead 4.
So, that means they watered the buggery out of it the day before. Plus, it sounds like they did something else to it, succumbing to the pressure that industry figures had placed on them to produce a fair track.
thats fine, but they should have published how much water the day before and whatever else they might have done.
If it is given to all, it takes away any advantage an individual may get from it...whether it be a punter, trainer, owner or anyone. I really thought that if there was any prepartion made that was different to the normal it could be incuded in the track condition report on the morning of the races, like the penetrometer reading.
ie..dead 4, 10mm of water added on Friday night, penetrometer 6.5 and inside running track aerated.....
surely it's not too hard to do, well for it shouldn't be if they cared.
also i would wonder what the penetrometer readings said.
if they take the reading at 3 widths, i would be surprised if the inside reading was not a lot higher.
also was the aeration for the entire circumference or just the straight?
not the only place to treat the punters with disdain, but that's not an excuse is it.
clever people that cared would make it their 'point of difference' from other places that don't give a stuff either.
they could even have a motto......"WE CARE"!!!
