I think Warren - in this very tough gambling market - with the saturation of sports betting - all you can do is present your product to the best of your ability

And i think Ql;d are doing that - even tho you point out that their turnover has decreased - well that is racing accross the board tho

They were going to lose AP - and get land somewhere else - the qld participants ( unlike the wa participants ) got off their aarse and did something - they lobbied the new govt - reversed the decision - kept their magnificent AP - plus brought back Totting big investment to the Darling  Downs area - plus Marburg is going to be a big training centre - so at least Qld are trying their very best

You contrast that to WA - rudderless - and we have had racing ministers and about to get a new one - who have had a very limited knowledge of Trotting

Again you contrast that to Qld - one of their Racing Ministers was Russ Heinze - i look at things fairlly - his honesty highly highly questionable , like some of those ministers under Joh at the time

However he knew racing - some of his relations still train pacers - he got the land for AP and got it built

And if Russ Hienze was Racing minister for WA he would sack/get rid of every person who wanted to keep an outdated 800 metre Metro  track and piiss away 30 milliom of industry funds  - and in my opinion that wou;ld be to the great betterment of WA Trotting

There ain't no pill to take, not a class you can attend nor a book you can read, stupid is forever.

I mean one cant carry on like a flog towards other participants at the stalls , on a race day and call others stupid. You've been shown the facts and figures the same facts and figures you claim are essential in backing up an argument, and because they dont fit your agenda you discredit them, thats called cherry picking and thats why others take your opinion with a grain of sand

Can you please provide us with facts and figures that prove without a shadow of a doubt that what your actually suggesting is the very reason for the downfall of this sport , otherwise what your saying is just an opinion and we all know opinions mean jack according to some people

    Marko,
I think a big difference, and I am happy to be corrected, between Albion Park & GP is that GP is totally owned by GP. It is not an industry owned facility (like Byford is). Therefore we as industry participants have absolutely no say in what ultimately happens to GP! From what I understand, even though industry funds are used to "prop" it up, if GP was sold tomorrow, all the proceeds belong the the GP members, not us industry participants.

Last night at AP - just watched all 10 races - inter dom pacer and trotters heats

I dont think you will see a better nights racing , all 10 races just utterly fantastic , and the 500k - 2 yearold race  just out of this world

The betting might say otherwise but that was Champagne harness racing

The proportion of the Point of Consumption Tax (POCT) revenue passed directly back to the racing industry varies significantly by state: [1, 2]

Queensland: 80% of POCT revenue is directed to the racing industry.Victoria: 50% of POCT revenue goes directly to the Victorian Racing Industry under a recent 2024 funding deed.New South Wales: 30% of POCT revenue is passed through to the three racing codes.Western Australia: 30% of total revenue collected is returned to the state racing industry. [1, 2, 3, 4]

This is what all you participants need to be lobbying for.

Never before has the government taken more money away from racing turnover and given less back.

30 cents in the dollar is a pretty clear indication of where we are headed down the toilet.

Increasing the percentage return to the industry will not solve the problem. The problem is people don't bet on the product. It is the product that is broken. Increasing the return on POCT will just give RWWA more money to waste and fritter away and improve their bottom line without fixing the problem. Poor managers make poor decisions.

You couldn't get paid enough at Tabtouch to do the prices for the Monday and Tuesday meetings.
GP 7 out of the 8 shocking races, all races 2,100 mts , no stands, no trotters race. Narrogin has 2 1,700 mts plus Higgins heat. But with many running already on Friday and Saturday night in many races. So if you own a trotter there is no races for a week ? Too me the N/R system has devalued the industry so much that in a couple of years the top ten leading trainers will be the ones with horses that can twice a week (meaning metro racing just about finished with no races available) Because with the cost of training fees going up like everything else. Buying a horse for 3 to 5k is only bring rehoming horses from other states with horses the option for owner /trainers
from SYD or MELB is the best option for return on investment. But these aren't  horses to sell on (egUSA) so someone will be last in line to rehome and I don't think system can cover the numbers in the next few years. To me N/R systems will destroy the industry. I  think we are heading to country racing only in WA. Am I wrong?
