Who's Online
“Regulatory requirements or reduced choice for punters?”

Question for contributors:
Tabtouch customers are reporting they’re being advised their accounts will be cancelled if an email address is not attached, with this being described as a regulatory requirement. Some also say deposited funds must be turned over before a withdrawal is permitted.
This appears consistent with broader Australia-wide online Corporate bookmaker practices.
Are racecourse bookmakers actually compelled by regulation to obtain a customer’s email address before allowing bets to be placed, or is this an internal policy decision?
More broadly, is this simply necessary compliance and responsible gambling oversight, or does it represent a further reduction in choice for punters — effectively “our way or the highway”?
Interested in contributors’ thoughts, particularly from anyone with industry or regulatory insight.

Only read again very recently on a slightly different note but with rules and regulations - Tabcorp not for the first time - fined a good deal of money ( 15 cents to them ) for taking bets online during live sporting events.
Now whether like the rule ( seems a bit silly to me ) or not it’s in place that to place a bet during live play - you have to either call them or go into a TAB - there’s no other way to place a “live” bet and you can’t do the bet online.
Tabcorp been told that often enough - yet they still blame other factors as to why it occurs.

In regards to rules and conditions sometimes when the boot is on the other foot things are a little different.
All good now but how many times in the past did the WA Tab and Tabcorp have to be told - hey guys this is pretty simple it’s right here - you can’t miss it - it’s in the government “constitution” TAB act - Credit Betting Is Not Allowed. It’s against the law.
Gosh don’t know how many times they had to be told that.
If laws aren’t abided by then whether it’s Corporate bookmakers or Tabcorp the problem is that they become a law unto themselves.

Think reason can’t do it online perhaps to do with Gambling Responsibly - now you tell me!
With the amount of Tabcorp fines ( there’s plenty all in the public domain ) I’m computer illiterate - but you’d think they’d have the best back up after the best back up to see these things don’t occur - human error that’s always a good one or the work experience kids fault.

He called foul and that got the ball rolling.
Hard to believe happening just once and being fined let alone happening again and again, they must have a strange system - here it’s simple go to place a live bet online and you can’t do it - the way it’s meant to be.
