She was 40/1 today and never seemed likely. Don't know, but just got this feeling we won't be hearing her name too much.

Hope I'm wrong and she finishes up being a Sunline...imagine it Cox Plate and the commentator to the world gets the p mixed up with a t .

Good result for Demerit stock leading into the sales

No Demerits in this years sale due to his injury a few years back

Mate had a syndi bet in R6 - Boxed tri 2,5,8,9,13.

    No doubt
when he popped off the bowling green to have a listen he would have been
grinning from ear to ear. Hope he never headed back before hearing the numbers ;-)

He will no doubt be a tad peeved.

before anyone goes off..it was NOT darrens fault..wrong colours on the stablemates...grieve will cop a fine.

Well he did well to win a Saturday race with it as it had every chance at Bunbury last start when leading. Might turn out to be a good form race as Angelisa was also well beaten when she  finished behind him.

    What a shocking ride Pike

Well hit me with a wet lettuce. I backed Helm's Gate last start. Rode it perfectly and just never saw a run when he needed it. Today - I switched to Key To Fame thinking it would get a soft lead and Helm's does what it rarely does - sits on speed. It is too tough for me.

Had've stuck with both that would have been a very nice all-up!!!!

not sure you are 100% right there the trainer would advise that he only has one set of colours then it is up to the race club to ensure that one wears the club colours and and should be checking that prior to them going out onto the track that everything is correct thanking this is an administrative mistake

Nothing in the stewards report so presume all was as it should be.

There's normally a fine for not having the right colours, and that wasn't in the stewards report, so maybe it'll be added in later...OR perhaps DMac Fugged up for the first time in 2018!!  ;) :D :D

same as red hots the lower of stablemates with same colours usually is the one changed. Pretty sure some official has as Rio says fugged up not DMac though you should never ass-u-me i guess and that looks the case here on someone elses mistake

So DMac didn't see the horses in the parade ring? So DMac didn't see them on the way to the barrier? I saw a giant #14 cross the line so knew who the winner was before DMac realised.
Dmac didn't know which of them was a chestnut gelding and which was a bay mare? He didn't know which one had drawn the 1 marble? He didn't notice the completely different riding styles of A.Kennedy and J. Azzopardi?
I understand the colours situation is the major factor BUT a racecaller should be passionate about the racing he calls and there were so many opportunities for the caller to discover the error and make the necessary adjustment.
     It was very embarrassing.

I feel for anyone stupid enough to back Copper Fury and was listening to the race on the radio.

Then again, I was stupid enough to back Medom in the previous race :-??

I feel sorry for anyone listening on the radio, or in a TAB who had a ticket on Stirling Estate..How many tickets got thrown away??? Don't know how long he took to correct it on the radio, but it wasn't instantly done on the TV..

I'm with Rodent. DMac had a lot of opportunities to see the error and didn't. Just another example of one of the best being past his use by date and not realising

I agree that the Stirling Estate error was totally avoidable but I must say I reckon Darren’s calling over the past month or two has been very good. He copped plenty of stick prior and was pretty much out of form for a while there but has kicked back strongly. Hopefully yesterday was just a one-off

He corrected it on track as soon as he finished the call. Sky probably crossed to another race. Don't know about radio.

Looks like stewards have tried to sweep this under the carpet. Whenever the club colours are used it is noted in the report and somebody cops a $50 fine for having to use them. No mention this time.

As we know standard practice should have been for Stirling Estate to wear an alternative cap to the stablemate as it had the higher saddlecloth number. I assume Grieve only had one set of silks with him so the club colours had to be worn. Not sure what the rule is but I imagine Stirling Estate rather Copper Fury was the one who was meant to wear them.

A comedy of errors with D Mac putting the icing on the cake.

I was listening on the radio. He did correct it straight away. Threw G Hall off his game too, was talking about the great ride by Joey in the post race interview. I had to have a bit of a laugh. I don't envy them one bit, live TV/Radio is not very forgiving. They do a million times better job than I ever could.

  • He only corrected it because he was told of the error from down the line.
