Torrid run, looked to have one laying in on top of him for a long way. I didn't think he could win from around the 800M as he was just not in clear running

Props to the kid if he won he would be King but gee that was a shocker he will get a few weeks for that and that all comes from no big race experance he panicked things could have been very different

He was smashing into horses on the bend he would of stuck to the fence when the track is playing like that you don't waist a barrier like that

Blocked for a run from the 800m, I would have preferred a wider gate. Finishing strong in clear running but the winner was in a league of its on.

dunno about winning but it was a mighty run in the circumstances.
should have finished much much closer.
a different rider makes all the difference?....who knows.

We will never know Carey but I believe moving out was the wrong decision I'll have to watch the replay, I will be surprised if he doesn't get time

...and a run over there would have made it interesting....28 days between runs is too long imho...especially going into 2500m.

Avdulla was basically out to get him. Legit.

looking at the overhead - not sure he would have got a clear run any earlier

I was watching Tarzino in the run ;) :D and he looked home a long way out - newitt had a lot of pony under him

he was fit enough, finished off as good as the winner

Huge run.. Would have had to be a magician to get him into the clear, dead ends everywhere. If Avdulla wasn't there and KOK could have followed the winner through it would have been very close.

I wish McDonald had gone forward early on Etymology because he jumped the best but had a look around and then was three wide for half the race. It might have made a difference because he was bailed up waiting for the gap to come while the winner was surging down the outside.

Massive run the local horse winner is a star Adam has to stop taking his mates over to ride and use a Melb jock

The winner had KK covered all the way was never gonna beat the fav even if it did get out winner is lengths better than KK

The barrier, the fact there was no clear running on the rail or wide had to drop back behind Avdulla's mount after having him block his run for a some time. I don't doubt KOK would have finished much closer had he got a better run, I don't think Joey can do much more, does he barge Avdulla out of it causing a fall and face suspension?

JAMES McDONALD  (ETYMOLOGY, 2nd) : “He ran super. You could almost
make a case that he could have won the race had he got out and got going
earlier. He was a little bit held up there.”

JOSEPH AZZOPARDI (KIA ORA KOUTOU, 3rd): “He went really good. From
barrier one, I wanted to be just behind them, but the one in front just
jagged back a bit and we got a bit further back than what we would’ve
liked. I had a bit of trouble getting into the moving line on the
corner, but it would’ve been nice to get out a bit earlier and start
flowing, but we had to wait. When he did get out he went well. It was a
    great run.”

OPIE BOSSON (RED ALTO, 4th): “He ran well, a bit of a surprise
really. He had the front early on, but couldn't keep up the gallop.”

BRENTON AVDULLA (PAY UP BRO, 5th) : “He ran well. He’s come along
this preparation. It was a very mudly run race. A lot of stuff was
happening in the mid stages. I ended up on the back of Craig (Williams,
Colonel Cluster) and the winner from the half-mile onwards, but my bloke
    just kept on one-pacing.”

CRAIG WILLIAMS (COLONEL CUSTER, 6th): “He’s done a great job under
the circumstances. He had a wide barrier and got across, so we had to do
some work. He was the only horse that was able to close off the race
after being forward in the run.”

JIM CASSIDY (SCADDEN’S RUN, 7th): “I was never in it really.”

BLAKE SHINN (LIZARD ISLAND, 8th): “He just didn’t see the trip out.
He tracked up like the winner at the 600 (metres), but from the top of
the straight he lacked that sprint that he shows, but he stuck on well.”

HUGH BOWMAN (SHARDS, 9th): “He didn’t stay. He ran a gallant race.”

DANIEL STACKHOUSE (PALACE TYCOON, 10th: “He went a bit lower than
expectations. He traveled well to the 600 (metres) and then dropped
    out.”

DAMIEN OLIVER (GET THE PICTURE, 11th): “He just didn’t fire today, so I couldn’t offer an excuse for him.”

DARREN GAUCI (AYERS ROCK, 12th): “He ran on tired legs today. He
looked like he didn’t run the distance, but I think he was a tired
    horse.”

DWAYNE DUNN (JADEER, 13th): “He slipped at the start and put us back a
bit further than we wanted to. About the 700 (metres) he nearly crashed
so that was his race done-and-dusted.”

BEN MELHAM (EXTRA CHOICE, 14th): “He pulled a plate and didn’t finish for that reason.”

SAM CLIPPERTON (MAN OF CHOICE, 15th): “He was probably a bit lost going around that way.”

TOMMY BERRY (IRON BOSS, 15th): “Very hard ride. He’ll be going to the paddock and probably gelded.”

    the entire race
