Not much doubt luckygray will, if smerdon can get it going like it can.

Starstruck was WA bred by Haulpak out of Colour Me Red that makes it a WA horse as it was bred, raised and owned by Heytesbury Stud and she was the mare's first foal, which again throw that ridiculous theory out the window that first foals are no good.

Pago Rock has won numerous races over there, Playing God has been placed in at least two Group 1's over there and Scenic Shot won the Mackinnon only a few years back, Mr Moet went over there at the end of its campaign and was placed in several WFA Group races, Bradson is another one who won a Victorian stakes race over there. Shot of Thunder won the Toorak over there, Centisle won the Goodwood as did Let Go Thommo who also won several Group or stakes races and was placed in Group races over there. Petite Amour won a Group 3 and was beaten 3/4 of a length into 4th in an Oakleigh Plate after looking like it was home but unfotunately this year it was run over 1150m at sandown if it had been run at caulfield and over 1100m as per normal it wins, incidentally centisle ran third in that same race. Golden Delicious won a listed and was placed in Group races over there, Stormy Nova etc, etc, etc .

Seriously some people have very short and selective memories.

Thanks for these horses mate. They are already part of the list.

    Cheers,

Beau Heed didn't win but was 3rd in the Group 3 Coongy behind Circles Of Gold and Filante, 4th narrowly btn in the listed Geelong Cup ,2nd in the VRC Queen Elizabeth Stakes Group 2 and 2nd to McGuane btn a 1/2 length in the Listed Ballarat Cup all during a 1996 Vic Spring campaign, also Fair Sir ran a very luckless 3rd in the 1987 Group 1 Cox Plate to Rubiton and Our Poetic Prince and probably should have just about won, think that's worth a mention.

Lead Role a brilliant Zvornik 2yo won the 1981 Group 2 Pago Pago Stakes at Rosehill, and am pretty sure he debuted here and won several races here.

Concrete, a brilliant sprinter miler placed in the Group 2 WFA Canterbury Stakes behind brilliant sprint mare Avon Angel and 2nd to Avon Angel again in the Group 2 WFA Expressway Stakes.

Rant and Rave 2nd in the Group 2 Hobartville, 2nd in the Group 1 Canterbury Guineas behind Dolcezza and 3rd behind Drawn in the Group 1 Rosehill Guineas and 2nd in Group 1 Tancred Stakes (BMW/ Mercedes etc) WFA to Bonecrusher all during the same Sydney 1986 campaign as a 3yo.

Brilliant Jungle Boy fillies Wink At Me 2nd to Avon Angel in the 1985 AJC Group 2 Surround Stakes and 3rd in the 1984 Group 2 Silver Shadow Stakes to outstanding filly Satin Sand and Len Morton's star Jungle Boy filly Lost World won the 1982 AJC Group 2 Surround Stakes.

Palace Reign a very notable omission he was a brilliant winner of the 1992 Group 1 Caulfield Guineas, 1993 Group 2 WFA Memsie Stakes at Caulfield and 1993 Group 2  Feehan Stakes (now Group 1 Dato Chin Nam) at MV. Stick Around won the 1991 listed Bendigo Cup for Wally Mitchell and Dodger Dyson and the Haddow Stud bred Patronise out of their handy Jungle Boy mare Aloof won the 1989 Group 2 AJC Up And Coming Stakes. He was by Without Fear but pretty sure he was foaled here and the studbook says bred by Haddow Stud and their principal Tony Freebairn owned him.

Black Ivory won the 1984 STC Group 2 Peter Pan stakes and the Listed Gosford Classic

Send a Sign never won stakes races but won multiple vic metro races over there and I'm sure that there would be many more that have escaped the memory of mine and others on here

Thanks for this mate. Some of the horses you mentioned are already on the list and some are not so I will add the ones that are not part of my list. Also the criteria is from 1984 onwards. Thanks again for your help.

I read right right through the thread this time and unless I missed it I thought Palace Reign hadn't been mentioned previously.

The injury plagued Seafarer just 10st 4wins & 2 placings, it could have been anything if sound, it ran 3rd in an 1100m  listed event over there down the flemington straight and fourth in the Group 1 WFA St George behind Princess Coup, Sirmione and Douro Valley.
  • AndrewCarterAndrewCarter    2,171 posts
Golden Unicorn a former brilliant Karrakata Plate winning WA filly who won the Group 3 1988 VATC Tranquil Star and the listed VATC Jewel Handicap in Melbourne is another worthy of mention.

Thanks for all these horses Andrew Carter and everyone else. I will add these to the list. Hopefully there isn't too many horses left to add, then I can compile this list and present the findings to you all on the forum.

Bound to be a bunch more than what we've found so I wish you lots of luck you're going to need it.

Will try and get this list up and running and onto this site soon, in a few months if possible
  • PCPC    2,265 posts

yep it will take a few months for this project but I am determined to get this list up for all of you to see. The results are quite astonishing. I have lost a track a bit with the newest horses which have been names in recent times so I need to find some time and look their stats up, compile the stats and then add the horses to this list.

Again it will take a few months for this massive list to be on here but I will get it done. Any questions at all in regards to this - let me know.

    Thank you.

    Hopefully not too bad.
    From the stewards

After the running of the race
the RV veterinary surgeon reported that Pago Rock had unilateral blood in its off
side nostril.  Trainer Mr D Hayes was advised that Pago Rock must gallop over
1000m in front of a Stewards before racing again.

Oh that is good news. What the hell is "unilateral" blood? Why not just say "in one nostril only and not in the other"? Last time I heard the word unilateral used was in relation to invading another country without UN approval. Now we have stewards engaging in spin doctor terminology.....bah humbug!!!!

Must Pago Rock gallop unilaterally or in the company of another quadriped of equine extraction???

Just thought I would add another WA horse to this list - as JayJay pointed to me tonight in another thread, Palace Reign was also a WA horse.

    Won the:

    1992 G1 Caulfield Guineas

1993 G2 Feehan Stakes (now called the Dato Tan Chin Nam Stakes)

    1993 G2 Memsie Stakes.

I know I created this thread way back in 2013. It seems from all of the comments on here that we have covered every possible WA horse who won stakes races outside of WA. I have done a word document and compiled the info (thanks to all of you).

I have also included 2015 onwards in terms of WA horses winning stakes races outside WA and they are: Delicacy, BHB, Shiedel, Silent Sedition, Real Love, Waterman's Bay, Rommel and Disposition.

Also - notapunta - if you are still around on this forum, I saw your question above (from 2013) and yes Voile D'Or was trained by Joe Miller and won a Listed Mornington Cup and the South Australian Oaks

I did a count and it stands at 202 Stakes (Group/Listed) races outside WA won by WA bred and/or trained horses since 1984.

At first thought the figure (202) seemed a bit high but if people want to go back through the last seven pages of this thread you will see names that I had not heard of and im backing those people who said that these horses (the obvious ones we know and ones we perhaps didnt know) were WA bred and/or trained horses.

So thanks to those people (you know who are) who have assisted me with this task, now the big task lies ahead - how to post all of the information on here somewhere. I may need to chat with one of the administrators about that..

Thought Real Love was very brave a 1/10 ride pushed on hard up the hill working that ride probably sends her to the paddock / breeding barn winner was far to good and makes Hartnell look ok

Ok so here is another one to add to the list - AWESOME ROCK

Bred in WA (Gingin), then was sent to the Magic Millions in the eastern states and was sold there, but before that - he was bred in WA. So AWESOME ROCK is a WA horse for sure. He has won two stakes (Group/Listed) races outside WA..

2016 Group 2 Dato Tan Chin Nam Stakes (1600m WFA at Moonee Valley)

2015 Listed James Boags Symphony Stakes (1800m hcp at Flemington)

So now the figure is at 204 stakes (Group/Listed) races outside WA won by WA bred and/or trained horses.
