Who are the most likely candidates for the Karrakatta this year.

Miss Solis is obviously the most likely fave.

I think we saw a couple of contenders on Saturday in The Danehill Rose and Profound Effect, possibly even Culprit if he can improve a bit.

Darlington Abbey, Vonlenska, Jestpatim and Single Spice will no doubt head that way, coming out of the Magic Millions.

Then you have Looking Ahead, but that form looks a long way behind those mentioned above.

Fuddle Dee Duddle and Playhouse Theatre. The latter pushed Miss Solis right to the line in their trial today.

Anything else to come out of the woodwork?

I think the MM (and all other form for that matter) might be a shade below Miss Solis.

Playhouse theatre was a great trial today, pushed Miss Solis and never gave it in.

single spice was a run and a half in the mm.
one more run and then bingo!

Only 2 from the MM are any chance. The 2 that defied the massive leader and near rail bias that day.
Miss Solis clearly the best of the ones seen so far from Aquanita, but that's not to say she is their best chance.
Haven't seen anything else that's raced to worry about.
The Supremacy will sort the contenders from the pretenders 8)

    Want to take evens?
5 1/2 weeks to go, a lot of water to flow under the bridge. Being 2yo's, half the horses mentioned won't even make it to the race and several trainers would be holding back there best chances, trying to time there run so the KP is their 2nd or 3rd run.
Chances are a few good debutants will pop up in the Supremacy, Perth or Gimcrack Stakes.

Gotta disagree with pretty much all of that. To find a winner that fits that profile you've stated you'd have to go way back to Confront; every other winner had started (and in most cases multiple starts) 2 months out. Placegetters ditto, lately the only runners in that bracket to do anything were Rebel Call, Friday's Girl and Grand Nirvana.

5 of the last 7 been won by the 'dominant' 2yo early (pre-christmas) - cash in the bank (no worries about getting in), let up and then back. The only two that weren't - Roman Time (slow learner that raced right through and improved with racing) and Brava Fortune (there was no dominant early 2yo that year).

Miss Solis certainly fits the bill. It's got miles on Spice Again, and it was only marginally lesser run than the eyecatchers in the MM. Plus it has a pretty decent trainer too.

And Roman Time was just lucky Universal Ruler went shinny

Hence - same can happen to any of these (Miss S incl)

PT was a super trial. Worth remembering though that it won a race on Jan 7. So even after a 10 day spell and then back into the system, there would have been a fair amount of residual fitness. Miss Solis on the other hand would have really needed the hit out after last racing on the 8th October. Also races in blinkers i believe and I'm pretty sure Ryan Martin weighs a fair bit more than S Meeres. As for shin soreness, agree that all 2 year olds are on a knife's edge but surely Solis is a little less vulnerable second time in after negotiating 2 trials and 2 starts in October and from all reports going out to the paddock with no issues? I'm obviously a fan of Miss Solis but have a healthy respect for PT as well.

Is it worth throwing Miami Horror into the mix? Obviously he was below his best on Saturday but he may well have suffered from an abnormality that we are yet to be advised of :?:

Real keen on this bloke his win Saturday was full of merit ,Jestapatim ,Miss Solis,Scandal Keepers win last Wens was outstanding sat 3 deep no cover first race start and then dropped them at the furlong and D Macs 2 also think the KK winner will come from Saturdays race cracker of a race

Jestpatim or Darlington Abbey for me..both had runs and now both having a bit of a break before the race.

Miss S and PT have a chance to show that they have held their form this Saturday...My opinion may change depending on how they perform and if they come through this in good shape.

At this stage have got Jestpatim in front..2 really good runs.

Good contest at this stage...and Donna Riordan has done well in recent years with her 2yr olds...Miami Horror is my smokey..

Thought i just heard on racing radio that markets will open on Tuesday arvo!?!?!?!?!?!

But was engaged in a bit of morning road rage with a dickhead motorbike rider who took to passing me on the left hand side in between parked cars and then wanted to enter into a bit of verbal abuse!!!!!

Couldn't hear the radio properly and not sure if he was upset cos i wasn't paying him any attention as i tried to listen, or cos i flashed my lights at him!!!!!
