What about the punter that would go to a pub with a TAB terminal and if there was a short priced dog favourite about 10 seconds before the jump he would insert a real bet of say $1000 first on the favourite  then 10 other $1 ticket bets on the other runners.  By the time the operator either got from the bar to collect the 11 bet wager the race was normally over and if the main bet had won he would happily pay the $1010 and receive the winning ticket.  If the main bet dog lost he would say he bets $1 all the time and only has $11 to pay for his bets and the $1000 bet is obviously wrong, it should have been a $1 bet like all the others. The operator would quickly ring the tab hotline and get the $1000 was cancelled. I believe he worked mainly in NSW and had to keep moving around to avoid detection. Anyone see any similar goings on in WA re cancelling unsuccessful bets after the race.
