I've just become involved with "Second Chance Horse Rescue" and was appalled, while going through the horses they have rescued to find this horse.
How can a horse that has won $56k for some owner end up like this???

He's not the only one. The amount of TB and Standardbreds in the rescue list is disgusting.

Most owners do their best to find good homes for their retired racehorses, there are always exceptions to the rule.

Obviously once you give a horse away, you have to trust that the new owners do the right thing.
  • There are a good few owners if you were a horse you would wish to be with.

    Mcmanus Magnier etc.

Retirement to a lovely stud until the day you die all horses deserve that.

We've never sent a horse to the knackery and i never will. And, we've had some slow ones. We've always sent them to a nice home. If i couldn't, i would pay for agistment.
That's why I would never buy a greyhound. I wouldn't want one as a pet, and they are too hard to give away.

Best pet dogs around - totally placid and wouldn't hurt a fly!

have had dealings with greyhounds in the past and as stated before they are placid loving animals,BUT don't let them see the neighbours cat run across the lawn or a small dog because they are very likely to take them , their instinct is very strong.

If you "give the horse away" you should still keep track of it's wearabouts and make sure it is cared for. I make sure any one who takes a horse from me signs an agreement stating this. Not to say I haven't been caught but it does lessen the risk.

Does anyone remember who trained Noted Ace before N. Reid???
