Im waiting for $1.30 to have a play - probably just wins but there will be better betting opportunites in the future I reckon.

Something which really annoys me is when there is incorrect information published in the racebook or Formguides.

    For the record

    Takeover Target distance stats

    4:1-1-0

    not

    1:0-1-0

Scenic Shot is a good horse but not in the same category as Takeover Target! The others are just handy Perth sprinters who make up the field.

In summary I think there are plenty of horses here who could / would beat TT over the journey, just unfortunately they aren't in this race.
I would back Marasco (had he been set for it) for eg.
  • Nan^Jiang^LaneNan^Jiang^Lane    501 posts
Nothing in Perth would beat him. There should have been a poll on winning margin.Ill tip say 3 lengths hard held
  • StaticStatic    276 posts
Marasco you got to be joking? Takeover beat Marasco first up on his home turf? Hows an extra furlong going to help Marasco beat a superstar?
If thats the case Marasco should be able to go to Japan, Singapore and England and beat the best sprinters there which Im prety postive is impossible.
  • darkshinesdarkshines    2,837 posts
I think you missed the point Static, he said over 1400.

I think you'd agree TT was never the best 1400m horse in the world.

But as someone said, this will be a jog till the 1400. He can't possibly get beat in those circumstances, even if he's going poorly.
  • StaticStatic    276 posts
No I still got the point. My point was even though the race is 1400m, Marasco is not in the same class. His only claim to fame was a gr2 victory in Melbourne beating Apache Cat which was over 1600m !

I do think though Fred should have missed the Kingston Town and gone to this race, could have ran 2nd not 6th.
  • Nan^Jiang^LaneNan^Jiang^Lane    501 posts
Marasco wouldnt get within 2 lengths of Takeover no matter what distance it was over.He won over 1400m at his 3rd race start. Is a duel winner over 1350 including running down Gold edition in a 10000.His over 1400m runs he started from barrer 19 in a stradbroke got beat 3.5 lengths. Was 1st up over 1400 behind Bentley Busicuit when needed the run and got beat 4 and when he lost on protest to honour And War carring 61kg.I wish Marasco was in it, get abit better odds cause the fools would back him again.

Not sure how you figure that.........
Got within 2 lengths of him 2 weeks ago over only 1,200m - closing fast !

Those races are all over 1,200m (1,000m for one of TT's English ones) not 1,400m.

I'd love to have seen him go from the Winterbottom to this race too.
Hindsight is a wonderful thing though.

Tivers he was closing fast on the other horses hence why he ran 3rd but 2 n half L in front were Takeover and Apache. Anyway why is Marasco being mentioned, he is not even in this race!

Possibly Tarzi to run second. Not sure how Scenic Shot will go first up.

He got beat 2.3 and never looked like getting near him.Wouldnt get any closer over 1400m.

You are correct. 200m further and he still wouldn't have won. Apache Cat would have, with Marasco 2nd and TT 3rd ;)

Can tell you one thing for sure, without any doubt - we will never know !

I think Tarzi is a digby to run second. Has the best turn of foot of the the others. Hartley's and Royal Lott take a while to wind up, and Scenic will be last and has had countless problems. And apart from his slashing go first up in the Autumn, he's usually average first up anyhow. More a staying grinder these days anyhew.
  • Nan^Jiang^LaneNan^Jiang^Lane    501 posts
Yes cause a 1400m race is run differently, Takeover has a big heart in him and never gives in.He is a world champion sprinter and Marasco is a Group 2 horse.simply not good enough to beat him.He would have run a good 2nd but he simpley wouldnt have been good enough.
  • JordanJordan    1,827 posts
    I wouldn't back him at $1.22!
  • TiversTivers    7,720 posts
And my point is that TT is a world champion 1,000m / 1,200m horse.
    Marasco is a 1,400m / 1,600m horse, but not a world champion.
Somewhere in the middle though, there has to be a point where Marasco would beat TT.
    At what point then would you say that is ? 1,450m ? 1,500m ? 1,550m ? 1,600m ? 1,700m ?
I'm merely suggesting that I believe that point would (could) be 1,400m - just !

TT wins obviously enough but i also dont think he is as good at the trip...and i also agree with tives that a certain horse would have gone very close and i might have been on  but in a 5 or 6 horse race im not sure if he would have got sufficient pace, anyways he's done this prep so thats that ...
4 perth runners is that all we could muster ?? P...poor really.

Reckon TT would need to spank them and probably will but i wont be plunging.

    Hahaha no Linc.

A Digby Morrell (not sure how it is spelt), bald bloke used to play shockingly bad footy for North Melbourne. Morrell = moral. Pretty lame really but still used by my good self.

Me either - but I'll be playing the quartet straight out, with maybe a few allways in the 3rd/4th place

Liking Tarzi to run 2nd, won this race last year! And is in form as he always is at this time of the year! Distance suits!
  • TiversTivers    7,720 posts
Need a quintet ticket for this one. Back the 5, for first 5, in order.

    Concensus appears to be :
    Takeover Target
    Tarzi
    then..........?
  • BlakeBlake    8,176 posts
what's all this won't run 1400m talk?? turn it up.

    the 4:1-1-0 is correct.

1400m stats in order - and i'm including 1350m because in saturdays case the 1350's will have been much harder run races than saturday.

*won the midweek on the kenso by nearly 3 lengths under a hold
    *3rd doomben 10,000
*midfield stradbroke from gate 19 had a horrid run
*1st Doomben stakes by 3 lengths with 60.5kilos in track record time and ran home in 33.37
    *1st Doomben 10,000
*5th All Aged Stakes - first up was fatter than 3 sumos.
    *lost the villiers on protest

surely there is no way this horse gets rolled.
