Have to laugh at the deductions that TABTOUCH have applied today to races 6 and 7.

Obviously they will be substantial as horses at the pointy end of the market were scratched.

Highlighting Race 7 they have deducted 39c for General Husson.

Other operators are as follows:

VIC TAB - 31c

LUXBET - 28c

TOPSPORT - 31c

SPORTSBET - 31c

UBET - 31c

LADBROKES - 32c

CROWN - 32c

Now how do TABTOUCH get their deduction to be 39c considering the prices they were betting yesterday were equivalent of their competitors. They need to be outed for this. It is daylight robbery.

And another thing is TABTOUCH don't even tell you what their deductions will be before the race like their competitors. It almost feels like they make up their own rules after the outcome.

they do have their own rules... or should I say WA does.
here are the scale of deduction... start page 38.

These are the old, old, old fashioned ones that apply. But ofcourse, WATAB can follow the rules of either the corporates, OR the old outdated WA legislation... because they are managed by centrebet/william hill. They get the best of both worlds.

This old scale does not take into account the percentage that was being bet in the market at the time of scratching... so the deductions will usually be a bit higher.

The corporates use the new model formulted a few years back, which DOES take into account the % of the market at time of scratching.

WA, in general, just needs to get with the times.

As far as bookies go in WA... if they are scratched while you are on the racecourse... the stewards will come give you the deductions... god knows what they use?
IF scratched before you get on course... you get NOTHING... so you can either use this old scale, OR you can take them from one of the corporate websites... which are generally pretty accurate.

    clear as mud?

Thanks Diva. That is clear. So WA are off the pace which in effect means the TABTOUCH is able to apply old rules which are out of date and a rort to punters.

And TABTOUCH want punters to bet with them, fund the industry, they reckon.

Call it out for what is it - a skin for the punters, a rort.

They need to grow some Cajones and frame their own markets. Not just for the occasional WA main thoroughbred race.

    They use a Algorithm
    To determine the Deducations
Depends on Market percentage and odds of the Scratching
    Go Figure that one ?
So different Corporates have diff deductions

Think they are trying to take us for fools with the whole bet local / the brand that funds the industry propaganda. If they keep pulling stunts like this they will continue to lose business to the corporates.

One suspects if they waiting until after the result to publish the deduction then their exposure to the winner must be taken into account. Warrior of Justice was $4 into $3.3 before the scratching.

Ever notice the price tumble when the favourite reaches the lead on the first turn at the Greyhounds.
Probably the same guy pushing the buttons on the deductions.

I backed Lane in the last at Flemington today and low and behold 4.80 becomes 4.30 on the tote when refreshing.....

I know this is to do with processing all the last second money, but again, its annoying and happens often!!

Will be interesting to see what the deductions are for Express Snooper tomorrow. It's 2.90 at the moment after racing and getting beaten 7 lengths today!

  • The product and the service that the WA TAB offer is a joke. I closed my account about 3 months ago for a number of reasons. TAB Radio is a joke, Gareth Hall is about full of himself as possible. Loves nothing less then bagging out regional clubs, his attack on Narrogin was a disgrace and he is not held accountable for his comments. He is there to promote racing in WA and all he can say is how sh*t it is, ( I agree its not in a great state but still you have to be positive)
A few months ago I was driving home from GP about to listen to the last of the night on the radio and the did the trackside interviews then had a slight delay, the studio put on a song and then 9 minutes later they turned the music off and gave the results of the race. I brought it up to them and all they said it was a TECHNICAL ISSUE. Yep the issue is Technically the flog in the studio went to the dunny and stuffed up. No admission of fault. All they are there to do is provide a service to the industry and they cant even do that for our main Metropolitan Harness meeting.
On 2 other occasions I had a bet pre-post on fixed odds and with a  scratching I lost 30% of the bet. I had the exact same bet on 365 and lost 20% of the bet (the odds were within 10c of each other)
When I called up to close my account they asked if I had a gambling problem and was it the reason I was closing the account (I do have a problem, I don't win enough haha), I told her no, the problem was with the TAB and the product they provide and TAB Radio which was a disgrace.  I asked her how much I had turned over in the last 3 years and there was silence on the phone, I think she realized I wasn't a $10 punter. Now that money goes to 365.

    Rant Over

A lifetime TAB punter...And this past week both Mrs Rio (gambles far more than me) and I have been investigating the corporates. I know I am slow to change, and I know it will take me a while to change...But the service and product have just got so bad that its got to the point that we have to look seriously at doing it...

rock n gold race 3 at MV
    3mins to go Fixed $17, tote 9.90
    2 mins to go $18 and 10.20
    1 min $18 and $10
    30seconds $18 and $10
    Jump $19 and $11
    Payout $19 and $12.50

Are they back to running their own book on the Tote???? Does anyone know what is going on at the moment??? The example above is not too far out of the norm, but its an example of after the jump movement on Tote and not close to fixed prices!?!?!?!

I dont think there is anything untoward some tote punters should have bet fixed by the looks of it.$19 was overs as the 6 & 10 were both heavily backed late.

Tote market fixed at 118% or thereabouts. Fixed markets can get as low as 105% at jump. Nothing unusual about that example

Just another example of how horrid TABtouch are. Looking at the Norm Smith markets. Eddie Betts is 17-18 most corporates and 9.75 on TABtouch, what a joke.

Eddie Betts 22/1 ($23 ) on the first corp I looked at. Tab also betting $6 that the Norm Smith Medal winner will come from the losing team. Yes it can happen but just $6 . Good luck. It would need to be under a one kick game to have any chance of that happening and even then would be doubtful.

They run a promo on a market but wind the odds in to compensate so it's not really a promotion. Just trying to get the suckers in. Most of us just see through it.

Hash in the history of the Norm Smith its happened just the four times.

Maurice Rioli 1982, Gary Ablett Sr. 1989, Nathan Buckley 2002 , Chris Judd 2005.

Thanks for the $6 Tab...that's a great bet.

Or @Hash a better way to work out the correct odds might be this...the Norm Smith has been going nearly 40 years...4 winners from the losing team over that journey...divide 40 by 4 ...gives you 10. About $10 or $11 would be fair on that system.

The draw is back into $19 :-q but a market has been added too for the game not to finish in a draw - $1.02 .

Would be punters heaven to hold every bet ( thousands of $ ) on today's game @$19 about the draw. As long as it's not one point or 6 points the difference in the final minute!
