Awesome, shame 519 isn't also going HD at this time.

    About time - the quality of race broadcasting in this country has been below par for a long, long time!

    Does look very nice (as expected), albeit funny how it gets debuted on Sydney's big day!

    Starting to get a little peeved with the sydney bias with Sky. If you watch the wash up show on sunday morning its all Sydney, even when they had G1s over in Melbourne standard syd races have priority

    Sky = Sydney

    To be expected given the channel is based there and with Melbourne cutting ties last year, of course they'll give Sydney the bias.

    Still not sure how Perth Racing don't get every race shown on a Saturday - that's the disgraceful part!

    So no Pinjarra on Sky HD - is this because of Pinjarra not having HD capabilities?

    This was what I thinking. Maybe I am way off but don't you have to film HD vision with HD cameras?......prepares to be shot down by someone who knows otherwise %-(   L-)

    That sounds right Kramer and Lucky

    Their press release mentioned 137 tracks across the country which could beam HD vision. I haven't seen a list of where those tracks are.

    They said HD would be broadcast for races in QLD, NSW & ACT so all along the Eastern Coast excluding Racing.com's territory. It seems to hint at the reason being expense/logisitcs. Sometimes Perth races-and HK-are featured on Thoroughbred Central though(usually after the NSW/ Qld races are finished). I'm not sure how they will manage that now? I have access to both SD & HD versions of ch521 on the online version of Sky Channel.

    ^^ If you click on the button that says 'channels' in that link you see the options that are available: i.e Sky 1, 2, Sky Thoroughbred Central, STC HD...but I assume you can't alternate between channels on Foxtel. So does that mean the channel just broadcasts the SD version of Perth much like Foxtel did with the analogue versions of FTA channels in the past or still does if you have the non-digital set top box?

    Well they were showing HK in HD yesterday. But no Pinjarra, which I found odd, given it was Cup day.

    They have not covered Sunday WA racing for some time.

    the broadcast of the last few Perth races on sky central was a joke on Saturday. the microphone was crackling out of control. they then try and switch from Macca to the mounting yard and it wasn't working so you missed a bit of the after race interview. Not good enough.

    Would think this is a problem of the production from Perth Racing.  I have noticed many times in the past the audio is out of sync when interviews are being done, not sure if that's because they're using wireless mics or not!

    Does Perth Racing still have that massive production truck?
