R1. Del Basso Smallgoods Nursery - Gary Wright
We had all been waiting for Rebel King to show us how good he was, he certainly did that and delivered in spades a fortnight ago at this track, one of the most explosive wins we have seen for quite a while. He returns today and it should be more of the same, what a great pick up ride for Ben Kennedy here. The inside barrier is the only small query but it is small indeed. In all reality Rebel King should win here by panels of fencing. Dont expect any fancy prices though, and understandably so. Sass N'Glam may run second here as she did a fortnight ago, she looks to be quite a nice filly but fair to say not in the Rebel King mould. Our Memory Girl probably leads once again and is a good chance to run a place as is Mysticity, who has run some good races but finds it hard to win. The other three starters are racing first up, and normally would be given some chance as they all have good trial form, but we will look on and see how they go today against the King.
1. REBEL KING - 3. SASS 'N' GLAM - 2. OUR MEMORY GIRL
SUGGESTED BET - 1. REBEL KING $90

A host of chances in this second race, and you should get good prices on all of them. One that was disappointing last start on the face of it was Zuccheros, but he did begin very tardily that day and was pushing the proverbial barrow up the hill to recover in that race. Interstingly his two race wins have been over 1000 metres and at Belmont Park and that has swayed me to give him another chance today, he is drawn well in the middle of the field and could sprint home over the top of them here. Another big chance looks to be Sovereign Debt, who returns today and is ever consistent, however his last win came at the corresponding meeting a year ago, but he gets a chance to rectify that today from a good draw and William Pike on board. He also has a nice record first up. Celebrity Miss returns here and certainly adds depth to this field, she has raced in some good mares races previously. Next best may be the last start Pinjarra winner Geiger Rio, who is also a very consistent performer when at his best.
6. SOVEREIGN DEBT - 8. ZUCCHEROS - 2. CELEBRITY MISS
SUGGESTED BET - 6. SOVEREIGN DEBT $20 x $20
Dragonlead was scratched last week from what looked a winnable race on the back of his previous win, and whilst this race has a little more depth than last weeks we will still tip him on top here. His form leading up to that last win was promising and he just looks to be suited by the 2100 metres here, and then there is the 53kgs and the long Belmont straight that appear to be well in his favour. Dragonlead appears to be a good type in the making and today will probably tell, but he should either win or go very close in this field. Desert Glow ran a nice race when third to Ora Dare here a fortnight ago, he has been on a tour of the state of late running the country cups circuit and performing quite well, and could be the main danger to Dragonlead today. Go Tiger is a little hard to catch on his day, his last run was good in the Ora Dare race but he can be a little inconsistent at times, and Drive West got a beautiful run along the fence last week when winning, but he still looks an each way chance in this type of field today.
9. DRAGONLEAD - 5. DESERT GLOW - 7. GO TIGER
SUGGESTED BET - 9. DRAGONLEAD $50
The return of the Belgravia Stakes winning mare in Arcadia Rose highlights this very nice three year old race. She did nothing wrong last preparation apart from a poor run in the Champion Fillies when she raced off the track and maybe the 1600 metres wasnt to her liking that day. This is a pretty good field but she does appear to be a pretty good horse and she is the tip to win first up over the five furlongs today. Her record first up is unblemished in two campaigns and she is a track and distance winner here, the draw may be a little tester for her but then again we get back to regular rider W.Pike to take the mount, a nice plus for her chances of making it three from three when resuming. Similarly Chinetti put in a poor run at his last start before a spell but there were excuses there, and this horse has shown a lot of ability during his five start career, winning three races, he looks to have prospects in this race. Zedfire Ezpress won very well here on opening day, certainly more depth in this field but hard to ignore that victory, and the likely leader is You Will Be Queen which will set a cracking pace and give them something to catch in the straight no doubt.
5. ARCADIA ROSE - 2. CHINETTI - 8. ZEDFIRE EXPRESS
SUGGESTED BET - 5. ARCADIA ROSE $40
If punters want a challenge to find a winner, then you have come to the right race. a maximum field over the 1400 metres with form coming from all parts of the state, certainly doesnt make it an easy task here. Once again a lot of winning form exposed with this race being a final. In the end Ive gone for the Albany trained Tee Pee Cat as the selection, not with much confidence though, maybe just the fact he is in consistent form on his home track, and has drawn well in the big field, this is an advantage in a race like this. He may settle in a good spot in running and give you a sight for your money. Its difficult to know who even sets the pace here, but with the big field you would expect some speed on up front. Angel Wing is another who is in form and drawn well, so look for this mare to put in another good effort today racing off the pace. Anywhere Express has been racing well on the Goldfields, and has form around Nitro, the surprise winner here a couple of weeks ago, so dont dismiss her chances, and Navello ran Angel Wing close in the heat at Pinjarra, another that may go well in what is a bit of a raffle punting wise.
12. TEE PEE CAT - 1. ANGEL WING - 8. ANYWHERE EXPRESS
SUGGESTED BET - 12. TEE PEE CAT $10 x $10
Not only the highlight of the day, but one of the highlights of the Belmont season here. The Roma Cup has brought together a sensational field headed by the dual Railway winner in Luckygray. He comes off a stellar campaign last summer for his new trainer Trevor Andrews, and is certainly suited at weight for age here. He ran a top trial a couple of weeks ago and it is hard to tip against him first up today on the strength of his summer form. Once again we have a top hope drawn the pole, lets hope he gets off the fence so he doesnt get caught up in traffic, if so he must go very close here. Magnifisio is in imperious form having won his last four in top fields, he does have to overcome the outside barrier though, and in such a great field that wont be easy. Elite Belle will be hoping for pace up front to unleash her strong finishing burst, not suited at WFA but she certainly still has class on her side. Plenty of other good horses engaged, maybe Checkpoint at each way odds could be a knockout chance, his first up form and form over the six furlongs are brilliant. Settle Strada returns to his spiritual home here at Belmont, Ranger, Kalahaar, Grand Nirvana and King Saul all return as well.
1. LUCKYGRAY - 11. MAGNIFISIO - 12. ELITE BELLE
SUGGESTED BET - 1. LUCKYGRAY $40
A really good race to close the card here, plenty of winning form exposed, and plenty of good promising horses engaged. It seems the main chances here are all drawn off the track which does add some spice to this race. Hard to fault the form of Fuchsia Bandana and she does have race fitness on her side where as a couple of her rivals are resuming from short let ups. The 1200 metres no doubt suits this horse as well as she has a terrific record at the distance and once again Pike rides, he may end another good day in the saddle with a victory. Dont Fiddlers Elbow, Mia China Doll and Trading Day add something to this race though, all well performed gallopers who have plenty of wins between them. Maybe Fiddlers Elbow the best of those, he was most impressive at Ascot in the autumn winning four straight. Mia China Doll is up in class here but was a terrific first up winner for her new stable, and another that will press forward from the outside is Inok, I love the statistic that he has won all of his twelve races over the 1200 metres, a really good race the final leg of the quaddie today.
8. FUCHSIA BANDANA - 5. FIDDLERS ELBOW - 9. MIA CHINA DOLL
SUGGESTED BET - 8. FUCHSIA BANDANA $25 x $25
Thanks for the great preview Gary. I am pretty sure though that race 5 had been left out of the equasion. Either that, or I need a new pair of :-B

Run For Rum has had two starts back from a spell and should be just about ripe to put in his best effort now. Whilst he was beaten by Military Might last start the rise to 1600 metres and the fact Military Might rises massively in weight today indicate the tables may be turned here. Run For Rum started in some good races in the spring and is a very nice three year old on the rise it seems. The barrier is a little concern, hopefully he doesnt get boxed in from the inside gate, but all things equal he appears well suited over the Belmont mile today. His conqourer from a fortnight ago in Military Might still appears a big danger here, just the 4.5kgs rise in weight and the outside barrier may prove a little too much to overcome today. One at odds may be Kim Mini, a nice fifth in the same race as Military Might, she is improving with every start and may give you a sight for your dollar at good each way odds today. Dontgetcaught has won three of his last four and should also go well, indeed there is some depth here with eight of the thirteen starters all last start winners.
2. RUN FOR RUM - 3. MILITARY MIGHT - 6. KIM MINI
SUGGESTED BET - 2. RUN FOR RUM $20 x $20
