R1. Westspeed Nursery Handicap - So You Think Tipster #10 - Matt R
Thateldo, the $70000 Easter yearling bay colt looks to be odds on today after a decent spell. In only 2 races of his career the colt has been beaten by some quality 2 year olds that have solid form against the states best in listed and group races. Thateldo beat the Karrakatta Plate runner up in a trial back in late 2012 by 3.5 lengths over 100 metres. This colt has the class and the barrier draw to be far too good for these. Jason Brown keeps the ride which only strengthens it's chances. With the others stablemate Kais Diamond with Ryan hill aboard looks the threat. Prefer to see this gelding from Oratorio take a sit instead of leading like recent barrier trial where fought hard under pressure in the final 150m to finish 3rd. With blinkers added should get the run of the race. Add Miss Santa Fe for the novelties with two recent trial wins for Neville Parnham. Was the fastest trial for the 2 year olds on the 24/6.

Quokka looks the one to beat here in the second race of the day. Placed in three starts the chestnut filly strode forward last start over 1200 from a wide barrier but could not go on with classy Magnifisio. With Mitchell Pateman again on board and a drop of 200 metres this filly by Hurricane Sky can put connections back into the winners circle. Illusion Light returns after a lengthy spell with its first run on the Belmont track. Layed outwards at last start in December costing her the race but trust these inconsistencies have been resolved and see a very strong showing here. Throwing Dawn's Flyer in as the recent run on 19/6 from a wide barrier was very promising. This run was her first back from a spell and came from near last on the turn and is obvious she would only improve from that run. With Azzopardi on board the weight advantage could assist in knocking off the top two. My monies with Quokka but if it starts in Saturday company, take Dawn's Flyer each way.
6. MADAM SASS - 1. QUOKKA - 2. ILLUSION OF LIGHT
Oraletto looks a horse that needs a good rest between runs. The fact that this horse has not started since a trial at the start of June will be favourable for its chances. Bellaxena is the one for me here though. Ben Pearce has this filly by Balestrini going very good at the moment and only missed out on the chocolates at its last start. The effort in that race gives this horse the nod. Watch the market on others.
3. BELLAXENA - 1. ORALETTO - 6. MAGIC HALO
SUGGESTED BET - 4. BELLAXENA $10
Credo looks a type suited in this race. Unproven over the mile before its last race this gelding by Scandal Keeper could have found its race. With a 1.5kg claim from that run over 2200 and a inside draw the finishing post could be his own today. Also with a change in jockey to Carberry race tactics may see Credo drop back off the pace as was ridden last start. Put last start winner Nunca Te Rindas in for second and consistent mare Leggy Blonde in for the novelties. If credo gets up have a crack at Park Lane in the next.
12. CREDO - 11. NUNCA TE RINDAS - 2. LEGGY BLONDE
Open race confronts the punter here. Quaddie punters best to elect the field. My tip in this field goes to Park Lane and Cliff Smith. This gelding knows the track and the distance compared to others in this field, and with in form jock Chris Parnham back on board he can get this one over the line again. Likely that Park Lane will sit back with cover toward the back of the field in this race. Another that catches the eye is Antelpen who has won 1st up and over the distance. These two could go the quinella. Satellite City could suprise 1st up as well.
2. PARK LANE - 5. ANTELPEN - 3. SATELLITE CITY
Third up after a freshen up gives Counter Offer, a Trade Fair mare a chance to add to her 3 victories. Twice a winner over this distance Colin Webster rises back in distance with Troy Turner steering. The drop back in class will favour her chances. Other chances are Bedamijo who drops back in distance after two good runs in provincial company. Knight Fury has claims if can settle into the race.
16. COUNTER OFFER - 11. BEDAMIJO - 9. KNIGHT FURY
Just how the name says, Troy Turner will ultimately be in charge of ensuring the right time in shifting gears on this Flying Spur gelding. Slick shifter showed a good turn of foot to record a well deserved maiden victory at Pinjarra on the 20/6 and if can repeat that form the gears should handle another 100m. Simon Miller's High Limit gets another chance with a more favourable barrier. Tacking On could suprise if can jump and settle early on.
9. SLICK SHIFTER - 5. HIGH LIMIT - 14. TACKING ON
SUGGESTED BET - 9. SLICK SHIFTER $50
This field lacks depth and one horse that stands out is Luwian. A recent debut here in WA produced a mature victory and another forward showing will be expected. Peter Hall is the change in the saddle with a wider barrier draw. Tranquilla Star should be fighting the finish out with Luwian. Keep Mr Magic safe in exotics with the weight drop.
8. LUWIAN - 14. TRANQUILLA STAR - 5. MR MAGIC
SUGGESTED BET - 8. LUWIAN $100
