Race two
I think CAT FIVE at an each way price is a good chance in a race like this. He should get the lead here relatively easily and be able to dictate terms. Its last run I thought was very good when it handed up the lead and was forced to make a long sustaining run, I thought it battled on really well on that occasion and the extra distance is not a concern. I am not willing to risk JUST HOPING at a short price as I am quite concerned about the barrier draw, its last run was good when it was able to lob into a lovely trailing position behind the speed, it took TRUE GOLD the length of the straight to gun her down which indicates she is no slouch. I just worry she will get caught up in the ruck on straightening and get out when the race is all over. Looks the best horse in the race though! REAL GLOW is an honest horse who is always somewhere around the mark, she has each way claims. So does BEATNIK BOY who is in some good form.

Race three
Am going for BEAR RIO here who is a pretty good horse fresh! Its recent trial was good and I think it can get a lovely run just in behind the speed, gets well in at the weights and will be running on late. SETTLE STRADA always seems to run into one better but will somewhere in the mix, should get across from a wide alley and give them all something to catch, no trial is the only concern. Was really impressed with the trial performance of CARGO CRUISER who was under a stranglehold for much of it, has had only one race start where it won well at Mt Barker. The stable is in form and it looks a good each way bet at odds. SILVER SASS was a good last start winner when she was forced to do all the work but was still able to score a good victory, she will enjoy the hot tempo and also has winning claims!

Race four
Found this race pretty difficult and ended up settling on BACKHOUSE STREET who resumes from a let up. Its first preparation was good when it charged home from next to last on a number of occasions. It ran a solid second behind ARCTIC OCEAN who has been in good form but was then sent to the city where Harvey rode it upside down and it disappointed. Has a good first up record and there is enough top end speed to get him into the race. SILBAR has been in pretty good form and comes into this race with an each way chance, may have to go back from the gate but will be running on strongly late. STONEBOY may be a knockout chance, he has been quite unlucky at its last couple of starts. Tough race!

race five
I think this race is set up for SAY STARS who I thought was good last start when it ran home very well from next to last on the turn. There is enough speed in the race to favour the back markers and he should be flying home late. FOXY COMMANDER is a consistent horse and in quite a weak field he should be able to find a placing if not pinch the event, he will get a lovely run from his gate and be somewhere in the firing line on straightening. CAPTIVATING SPIRIT is another horse who will enjoy the hot tempo up front he has been putting in some solid efforts when getting back and running on. CANTIC is an interesting runner who has his first start in the state, his trial effort was good and it may pay to watch betting with this one! Another pretty tricky race.

race seven
I am giving ROYAL CULTURE one more chance this preparation as it will enjoy this hot tempo up front and be charging home late. He always seems to find one better this horse but I think this is his race for the taking. TWILIGHT HERO put in a good effort last start when it led for almost the whole trip and pushed EXCELORADA to a long neck, he should be somewhere around the mark. THYME FOR BUSINESS is an interesting runner who resumes under its third trainer, it has a good first up record with 2 wins from as many starts. CATCH DAT KAT will enjoy the hot tempo up front and should be included!

race eight
Am going for TIFFANY YELLOW who has put in two good runs this campaign when winning well at Northam and then running a good third in town. Should be enough pace in the race to suit and will be running on well late. CYCLONIC HALO i thought was good first up and will improve on that run, it has each way claims in an open race. VICTOBOUGG has been in good form at Pinjarra and can play a part here!

still finishing race one!
good luck

    Rail at 18M so a good opportunity to get some very intense close up action shots. I'm going to be there for the first four races only. Images on my facebook page in the early evening.

    Race 5 Say Stars. Great run last week with no luck and can win. My best for the day.

    Race 4 an improver will be Ruth's Star. Interestingly first up at 1650 then back to 1400 and now 1200. Wouldn't surprise if ridden more patiently and it can play a part. With the Swede on board the result could be a Turnup for the books :roll:

    I have one going around in the 5th. She's called Calamine. We bought her from over east. We don't expect much from her.
    She seems to like a dry track, so i hope the rain stays away.

    Hi Rio,
    It's the first time I've bought one from over east. It cost us stuff all, so it was worth the risk. Her trial win was the fastest time of the day, but second horse, trained by Adam Durrant, was going better on the line.
    CJ's? Is that the tavern near the roundabout? If so, I can honestly say I've never had a drink there. It's usually full of Africans and Lesbians. It's not my cup of tea. I put my bets on and get out of there.
    Also, you wouldn't say that the staff are that friendly. If I'm not mistaken, I'm sure a "thank you" still costs nothing.
    Keep Smilin'

    KB...i very occasionally go in there, but that is the one i was talking about..have been in there at night once..i'm a fairly big bloke and i can tell you straight up...never again!!!!! Hope she stands up to the run and you get an idea of where she needs to be running....i'm sure you know but trial times can be so deceiving...My Carnarvon boy ran the same time on the same day as Colour Correct in it's first trial..Mine was off to Carnarvon, the other is in the Belmont Sprint!!!!!

    See you same place... same bat time falc.. but can you encourage Uncle Len to drop into another spot on Wednesdays!!!!! :lol:

    Hi Karl,
    I've paid more in GST than what we paid for this horse. The Mrs wasn't happy I jumped back in, but she's got over it.
    I haven't had a runner since last year, so I'm looking forward to it.

    Hi Rio,
    She'll find it hard from her barrier. It would be great if she gets up, as I'm stuck on 9 wins. I need to break into the double figures. Lol. Also, she'll pay a great price.

    Tip for Belmont for WED 6/6/12

    (with rail at 18 and forecast for wet - (and the chance that Murphy watered too late again as he did before last Sat!))

    Check
    * speed maps for on pace runners
    * inside draws
    * forget swooper jock's ( eg Yuill)
    * shy away from closer favorites.

    she is ok as a rider dungy.
    certainly better than most of the guys over there.
    perhaps her problem is confidence at the moment, but whatever it is, there is no way you can be a very good jockey one day(and she was)and then all of a sudden no good(not at her age anyway). it doesn't work that way.
    i would actually rather her on my bets(if i bet :? ) than the other two you mentioned.

    From it's 3 runs it looks more of a get back and Swoop home type runner..Even when starting in barrier 3, she got it back to 11th, before swooping home into 3rd...last start it was ridden on pace cos she got stuck 5 wide in a 9 horse race from the outside barrier!!!!! Then to make it worse she pushed to the lead on the bend and wait for it....she got pipped on the post due to going to early..IMO

    So if it is a on pace runner, she still cant judge it's pace right to get to the lead.....and stay there..

    Am sure that today she will ride it back and hopefully bring it home from some weird pocket that she has ridden it into..So it will either be a spectacular win...or another spectacularly shocking ride!!!! :roll: :roll:
  • GOODLUCK to AARON MITCHELL having his first ride today

    certainly got the right name to be a winner :P

    Carey - it is just as well you don't bet - if you reckon K Yuill is as good as most of the blokes. She had her time - she graduated from Pony Club to racing and with her claim, got on some good horses - but many, many of those winning rides were not "good rides" .
    She now shows that she can't
    * race in the field
    * judge pace
    * make a good decision in running

    and thus she resorts to taking off wide.
    Solidarity and loyalty is one thing but open your eyes.
