Phenomenons currently 40% equates to $2.50 chance

    ----------------------

couple of gear changes worth noting

DOMINICANO - Winkers On. ADMIRING - Blinkers On, Winkers
    Off.

Doing a speed map I think this will be a very strongly run race - Kim Coin and Danamoss drawn wide should push forward early - well drawn runners will probably use there barriers to settle handy - maybe the odd midrace move by a jock losing his head or trying to pinch it

    cant wait for this race

Looks like another penalty kick to me.

Cant see any possible way PHENOMENONS can be beaten. They went hard last start and he cantered in, if they walk they will cop an even bigger hiding!!

I wouldn't discard Markus Maximus is always in the finish down here. And Berlioz was a great effort ,considering it was cramped for room at winning post 1st time & lay in & struck the running rail @150 m almost dislodging jockey & still was only 1 3/4 Lengths from Phenomenons.

    Dominicano for me.

My punting career is over if Phenomenoms does not win the Derby.
Every cent, in every account I have is going on.
So potentially only 21 hours until retirement.
Thanks for the good times, bar humbug for the bad and may the best horse win, to keep the career alive!

Was simply beaten by 2 faster horses.

Black Print even though was not going to beat the placegetters will make a nice horse next prep.

Probably the single worst day on the punt for the last 2 years for me. Must get better from here.

You are not Robinson Crusoe in this regard. I was sure I had been on a good thing in a few races. WIPEOUT would best explain the situation. Funny because today I jumped into the deep end. Nothing would go to plan and a couple of jocks pushed the panic button. With reason to do so of course. If I continue on this path would you direct me towards the SOUP KITCHEN.

Totally agree Static almost fell just before the turn and still picked himself up to run fourth very good effort, very nice horse in the making!

Don't give up on the Dominicano either people just overaced with the winkers first time but will come back a nice stayer 8)

Pretty average bunch of 3yr olds we have at the moment when 2 Eastern Staters can come over here with just average form and clean our lot up ....lol ... easy pickings for them lol .... but when a horse that has only won a weak maiden at pinjarra runs within 1 1/2 of the winner its no wonder ! lmao ... IMO worse derby for years ... but hey the crowd was good and plenty of talent about !
  • TheDivaTheDiva    13,248 posts
It will be interesting to see how many of these Derby runners continue to race in this prep - no doubt a few will.

Im sure the WA trained runners will have to take on open company - so we may be able to get a good guide to the strength from how they perform.

I believe the winner Markus Maximus will now head to the SAJC Derby

Wow Ivan, you really came up with some inaccuracies in that statement
Only won a weak maiden at Pinjarra? I assume you mean Black Print. He won a maiden at Pinjarra BUT then he won a 3yo 0-67 at Pinjarra over 2000m by 4.5L. The horse he caned was Ten Aces who won his subsequent start in Saturday class at Ascot beating older horses.
Black Print was beaten 2 1/4L in the Derby.......but don't let the facts get in the way of the point you're trying to make :liar:

gee Rodent - didnt think you would be the one falling for the wind up merchant  - the opening line of his just invites people to take the bait but good to see people havent responded to drivel

PS - you notice the horse (Black Print) nearly fell at the 250m mark
  • RodentRodent    7,446 posts
Bait? I'm not buying into the depth or otherwise of the WA Derby.....as a Sydneysider I know how inferior it is to our Derby (Big Col beat Markus Maximus last start)......where did Big Col finish in the AJC Australian Derby yesterday?
I was just correcting a known falsehood. Everyone is entitled to their own interpretation of the facts. The trouble with Ivan is that he just wrong

Moody , is brillant at setting a horse up for a target, you only have to look at the amount of country cups he has one.
People may not rate Max, but Moody did and he wouldn't of flew the horse over just for a run - would big col of made the first 5 place getters yesterday ?,I doubt it.

Its great our derby can attract these kind of horses here, remember, horses like Better Loosen up, Dulcify , (Summer Carnival)were sent here to race because they thought they were just below the top rung of horses running around in the East, they later went on to become , a couple of the greastest horses of there time.

Look at what Hayes did again this year with Nico, came here in the summer and hit his peak again-then won another Group 1 in Melb after.

Look for Max in the Caufield,Melbourne Cup betting.

Plus don't count our horses out - Choisr Kid-(spring sprints), Phenomenons.
