If PHENOMENONS starts the other might as well not show up. This horse is that far ahead of the rest its scary!

Only beat the tiring Liquidation by 3/4 len, and he is many lengths off his best as he is being aimed at March/April and was for that run overweight. Phenomenons is a talented horse, but I'm unsure about being scary, as he didnt win the race in question.
This is true, but Liquidation had a 6L headstart and didn't go around a horse. I'd suggest Phenomenons is a much better animal than Liquidation even accounting for Liquidation being fat.
liquidation is still fat and has barrier 17 on saturday so there is a good chance he wont beat phenomenons this saturday but i can bet you he will finsh in front of phenomenoms every start after!!!!!!!!!!!
With even luck LIQUIDATION wont get near PHENOMENONS this, or any start this prep... possibly ever! Unless hes getting 6 or 7kg off him.

Think that is because it has been winning and jumping up the ratings. When it ran 3rd it did not go up ratings or weight.

I still refuse to bet on 2yo & 3yo 16 horse fields at Ascot . One would think he will be very competitive in this race and should go close to taking it out, however he must get a clear run and have no bad luck in running. I wouldn't touch this race with a 10 foot pole based on that.

The horse must be for sale with this much publicity being generated. So does anyone think it is currently worth $1M ?

No..do you know of an offer like this?
In time it could attract that sort of money with the right results though imo.

NO not heard of an offer, but folks on here say that he is worth more than Liquidation, and substantial offers have been made for him

I was thinking this the other day... bloodstock is FAR from my area of expertise but i would have thought given the sums some are going for then definitely 1m would be around the mark

can i ask why they didn't take it???

a gelding that's won a listed race in perth by a neck. i would've given them a rug, bridle and work saddle. and that's not knocking the horse at all it goes good but 800k is 800k!

and i don't think phenomenons is worth a mill either. has won 2 or 3 saturday races has it not? might be in the future but not yet? fair trade won a saturday first start then bolted in a group race it's second start in melbourne, they got close to 2mill. that's the type of horse that is worth that kind of money imo. if they're worth a million then what is rebel raider or whobegotyou or fravashi, nicconi, heart of dreams worth??

Several owners in Liquidation and majority decided to keep the horse as it was left to them in an estate and the emotional ties were too strong.

100% agreed that $800k is enormous

    $800000 is a decent amount.

It can be viewed in different ways.

Would the deceased person have sold for that amount or was it a condition that the horse never be sold.

The horse is highly unlikely to win that amount of prizemoney, even $400000 is an ask. A Derby or Railway Stakes is a pre-requisite win.

Maybe the owners are screaming rich and they just want the pleasure of watching a horse race and who could blame them.

I think 99% of owners would have taken the amount offered as it is overs.

Good luck to the owners and I hope they have a lot of fun with him.

  • No 2009, this years Derby winner is yet to run a place in his career. Has the D factor and is being quietly primed 8)

I think this year's Derby winner is going around on Saturday. Both of the contenders that is.

What does everyone else like in the other races? Like Diamond Highway and very keen on Kaleido - holds winning form, doesn't mind the quick back up and the wide barrier won't worry it.
