Thought Surprise Impact would have done better. Still made my HIT on EXHILERATING and then bite at ARCTIC WATERS. Can't be too greedy. Had a good day. 8) 8)
  • The Cat had every chance to win, if TT had a start under his belt he would have belted them. Great ride Jay Ford and a fabulous race.
  • GOM brother.............. :?
made a few big calls of late, the mighty quin last night jumped crossed and lead yet still got run down in the golden nugget.. apache gets beaten by TT but had excuses so i doubt GOM will be giving up the punt just yet

Gee GOM cant wait for next weeks segment -lol lol lol-thats right you would have given up pinting -lol lol,AC probably should have won brilliant race well done Perth Racing and once again GOM cant wait for next week -lol lol
  • Great race, I was lucky, was going to lay TT, but didnt have the courage, layed D Beau, layed D Beau to get beat by Marasco in match betting, backed Marasco to run the hole. Turned out good.

Cannot work out if a horse is renown for hanging in and is indeed hanging in why do jockeys pull the whip in the right hand as Rawiller did on Marasco, no change to the result as it was but he only just grabbed 3rd, I would have been dark if he had run 4th

Piston the simple fact is Marasco is a NUTTER with his racing manners ,but you find it easier to bag Pike than the horse in the past and is as i stated last week a GR-2 horse ,Willie didnt ride it so you cant pot anyone this week but as i stated last week Ponty,Willie ,Brad Rawiller it doesnt matter he is what he is and thats a good Perth horse ,the only plane Marasco should get on is the Plane to Kalgoorlie he aint good enough for East has always been overplayed in the racing press in W.A .

hang on a sec i don't think GOM needs to cop any flack fair dinkum if it jumps with them it wins and i think that and i bet up on target and declared him so i'm just being honest. the start cost him the race. i'm going wth rodent on this you should never lay champions but he shouldn't be getting crap off any of us i think.

as i rule i'll never hold anyone to the statement "if this does this i'll give up punting" it's a figure of speech. GOM you've tipped me more winners than anybody over the last couple of years and this is the first one i've been against you with and you still should've been right so i'll stick solid mate and will be with you next week i'm sure
  • dung I was talking in general about a horse hanging, why do riders that know they hang in still have the stick in the right hand is what I was referring to. I dont think Marasco will have any trouble winning in Melb like he has in the past, he did beat Apache at his last Melb win. Agree he might have trouble winning in kal, but he wont be catching a plane there.

Blake people who say I will give up punting if this gets beat or similar are simply lairs, no one takes too much notice of GOMS statements as he even posted he would never post on here if somthing got beat, it got beat also.

Did stick with Sir Artsplace last night though.

well done Perth racing I dont know what it cost to get them here but worth every cent TT what a champ he finds something when all looks lost.

Agree Linc, one of the best I've ever seen on home soil. I was so close to switching to the Cat but didn't and I think we're all bloody lucky to witness what we did.

bloody wish i was there. jay txt and said it was unbeleivable and the old fella's still got it. atmosphere must've been electric at the races.

Is Apache staying for the Scahill? Hard to believe Takeover's lining up in a G3, anyone think Marasco can give him a shake off today's run?
  • TheDivaTheDiva    13,248 posts
I would agree that the race was one of the better races I have seen, certainly in the last 8 years being my time in Perth. It was fitting that they should go to the line locked together, and that neither one of them was embarassed by the run. The ovation from the crowd including the packed members top tier was one to remember.

Very curious to see the "official" crowd numbers, personally I was extremely disappointed. The marketing department need to have a rethink, whatever they are doing now is not working.

for the record blake, my post was re. gom was only just a friendly wind up most on here that know me and know OF ME will agree anything like that i posted was a friendly joke with no intent to insult or put anyone down, im definitely one to have a laugh and clearly would never have any seriousness to a post such as the one i made earlier...
and yes i am aware, it is only a figure of speech "if this does this i'll give up punting"

I am so glad I went to the races today, that was an amazing race and one that I won't forget. Perth racing did a huge job getting those horses to come to Perth and the connections of both horses were great. I hope that WA representatives show as much class when they travel.

Anyone know how Hips Don't Lie is???

Stewards reported a laceration to her hind tendon. I think it can't be that bad as they din't elabourate on it. Several Trainers had a look at the boots my filly wore in Race 2, apparently one of them said that all runners should be made to wear them.

How good was that??? I chucked a few bucks on Danny Beau but the race was everything it was hyped to be and more.....got goosebumps watching. Nothing could top that.......
  • TheDivaTheDiva    13,248 posts
I should change that answer as any laceration to a tendon area would be considered bad. Hopefully the filly can recover in time.

Very unfortunate for her connections. Any lacerations to a tendon are definately serious considering that horses are travelling at almost 60kph when they hit.

GOM was right about Apache Cat as far as I am concerned. He ran a great race and was unlucky not to win. However, he was wrong about Takeover Target claiming he was the lay of the decade and that he would be flat out running 2nd.
TT controlled the race from barrier 1. Jay stayed back with Danny Beau knowing his one danger was bottled up behind him. Great ride Jay. I hope GOM didn't lose too much money.
It is a very risky business when you lay champions.

I agree Rodent, GOM put it on the line and Apache Cat was superb - I thought he had won it from my angle (see below)

Great race, great day and wow, I did very nicely thanks to Takeover Target and the quartets and $8+ exacta payout!

    Great photos there lucky.
Fantastic race and worthy of the media attention it received during the week.

Cheers! The race was one that I won't forget anytime soon, that is Joe first inside the gate as TT is coming back in the gate!

I must applaud the connections of Apache Cat, for allowing the public to pat the horse and take photos of the horse close up after the race in the parade ring - great to see!

I sure hope TT stays for the Scahill, probably not a bad move as it'll be his last run before the Autumn or Singapore.

    are you kidding tete?
    1. would have to be the best race Ive seen in perth
    2. The crowd was fantastic, whichever way you look at it. Racing in Perth has never been able to back up crowds from week to week (and last week was massive). Take your hat off sunshine, Josh Rodder has pulled off the big one this time. Outstanding effort to get horses of this calibre in WA and the people came and they cheered. Sometimes I wonder Tete, give a little bit of credit???

lol care to indulge a bit more Ruffian please? btw i agree with u, why is he riding horses of the potentional like Harkam Grace? Guy shouldnt even be riding trials in Geraldton!!

Ah yes the talk of a punter in denial..

Got caught three wide, couldnt get a clear run, held up at a crucial time blah blah blah. Apache cat was lucky to be behind the leader, could have been much worse than that. Just keep backing the "best horse in the race" rather than the horse most likely to win.
