..."and in turn offer better odds for punters." How ?

Exactly Riders, unless they reduce the take out rates I can only see it being worse for punters.  Top tote at least had some appeal as usually one would be above SP but a combined one I just can’t see how it will ever offer value for the punter

Little off-handed comment in the article that Racing NSW will now control the Sky Throughbred Central Channel to further promote Racing in NSW  :-& As if they dont get enough promotion across every available channel FTA or otherwise already......

what does Paramutual and WOP mean please? Dare say WOP is win or place but not sure.

Paramutual is simply another word for the tote
WOP is Western official prices, the BEST of the BIG corporates price at any given time from about 30 mins before the jump of a race

I will stand corrected on the "exact" nature of the WOP, but I'm fairly sure the TF (top fluc) and SP (starting price) are taken from those prices after a race, used by the corporates for their "dividends"

Punters taking best tote are going to be far worse off with a national tote.

I think it is great news from a harness racing aspect - especially the quinella and tri pools - they might be decent to bet into now - they were dismal on a state basis

Of course VLandys leading the way again - cut his teeth and brilliant at the time when CEO at Harold Park - fancing getting annual $1 million sponsorships for the NSW Trots from CUB , well he did

What WA Harness and Gloucester Park would do to get an administrator the ilk of VLandys - and i dont think Peter would take too kindly to the ones who want to spend/ pisss awauy 30 million and keep an outdated 800 metre  goat track . no i dont think Peter would warm to that mob

I'm a firm believer Gloucester Park has a future, under the current management structure definitely NOT. What has the current president and management achieved to make GP grow and become better?.

Yeah - too stupid for words isnt it - and at a cost of $25- $30 million - pity that Paul Murray isnt it ,  who had  hard hitting ( even though he is a Liberal part fanatic ) column in Sat West - pity he isnt a Trots fan because he would rip this to pieces , and severely embarrass them

And the bitterly dissappointing thing mate is appart from Warren R and Chop Chop they are the only 2 trainers who will say anything publicly

I asked another the trainer ( who posts here ) the other day - simply what is the general talk amongst trainers re this crucial topic - wasnt prepared to answer of course - that is typical of WA Trainers

If i was a trainer and especially if i had a few nice horses in the stable  , who could really cut out a very slick quarter - i would be super keen to race them on a beautiful spacious 1000 metre  metro track - where you could really let them fly - id have zero interest on racing them on some pidddly - 50 year out of date - 800 metre goat track

Bottom line mate - quite a few WA Trainers couldnt care;less - and that to me says they lack ambition

i don't think its a lack of ambition i think its more the fact people are just completely over it in regards to having their opinions and views kicked to the curb by those high up , at this point in time we are almost better off complaining to a brick wall
