The solution to multiple runners is not to allocate drivers their own colours, optional or otherwise. It is completely disrespectful to both the owners who supply the horses and the trainers who prepare them.

I don't go to work (as the employee) and say "Look boss, I am wearing my own uniform today, I know you are paying the bills and the wages but I want to wear my own selection, I want to promote me".

The jockey walks up to Bart. "Hello Mr Cummings, I want to wear my own strip on So You Think today, I won't be wearing Dato's colours".  "Fine son, wear your colours in the cab on your way home, hears your voucher".

The release says BOTRA were consulted. The membership most certainly was NOT consulted.
Agree with all you have said JayJay.  Whilst on colours had a galloper (slow) a way back racing at the Provincials, Jockey came out with the incorrect colours, so kind of thought "what hope do we have here, Jockey has not even looked at the Racebook to see what he should be wearing, let alone study the form in the race.

I posted that if i was an owner , i would like my own colours

But for the betterment of the sport , i can see what they are trying to do , they are trying to have some super star high profile drivers , which even non or  casual Trotting folowers are aware of

There are all these insults , why cant a thread title just be discussed

Handicapping and Integrity are the two most important things in racing and harness lacks both, they drive turnover fact.

I go back to the 4th March post , what will driver colours do to help grow a

Always remember stoopid is forever :)

Intelligent individuals wouldnt dare attempt to confront and verbally abuse other participants in a public setting such as the stalls at the Pinjarra trots during a race meeting would they now ? Would be a real grub move from a licensed participants wouldn't you agree ?
Here we go again making a statement without the facts, it was actually twice but that happens when dealing with grubs.

facts ??? Most of us were there the day that one of the incidents took place, for someone who preaches professionalism in the industry and accuses most participants for lacking, you are definitely no shining example of said professionalism

Shake your dicks boys and let the pissing contest be over.
Back to the colours,I’m lucky enough to have a share in penny black and with a decent amount of owners I think it’s great Michaels colours are worn on her as he’s done the work on her to get her to go as she has and should get all the recognition and it’s good exposure for perspective owners to join his stable or follow his other runners.
If you’re a sole owner and pay the bills and you want your colours used absolutely that’s how it should be.
I don’t think joe public will really follow drivers if they don’t already but we should be pushing to promote the star horses.

As allways im the poster who can see all sides of the discussion point

Now if i was an owner , yes i would like my colours because im paying the bills etc

However if you look at the other states who have brought this in for a fair while like Qld Vic and NSW , i think they have got a common sense approach , that horses irrespective of who is training them they are in the drivers colours , but onlyfor bread and butter races , feature races are off the table , like so back in the  day Gammalite and Pure Steel in those big races would definitely be in the stable colours

However for the non feature races im all for it , and it may increase turnover

You take Shannon Suvaljko , he is the classic example for it in WA because he is purely a freelance driver

Shannon use to have those beautiful blue colours , so say he has got 8 drives at GP , they are non feature races , so Shannon is in those lovely blue colours for all 8 drives , it is so easy for the punter , theres Suvaljko he is on this thing , he is in his  blue colours , and some punters like backing certain drivers

What they are trying to do is give the Drivers a profile , make the Drivers the Superstars , like Geoff Webster said , back in the day the leading drivers had profiles like the footy stars

So from a punting aspect i really like it , because if im having a bet interstate , i can instantly see my horse because of the drivers colours , or there is 40 seconds to start time , and you see in the prelim a certain set of drivers colours , eg - oh Robbie Morris is driving this thing , its in the market i will back it - that helps turnover
If your talking about the blue colours with the white diamond sleeves that Shannon has,he uses those colours on horses that he or his missus owns.So they are actually owners colours.

don’t forget he uses them on the horses he trains in someone else’s name aswell

Excluding the Shannon suvaljko owned American typhoon which raced and saluted in the Peter tilbrook colours today

so you think that sort of behaviour, at the stalls, at a race meeting makes yourself or harness racing for that matter look professional?? Do you think its a good image going after someone in public over words said on an online forum ???

Word of the day , declection, the act of changing or causing and object to change direction, often after hitting a surface, or in a psychology, a defence mechanism to avoid scrutiny by shifting focus. Not going to lie im learning so much with this whole word of the day game, cheers Warren.

In his day, I don't think Tinny had a problem with not enough colours to field a full field.
I too, disagree with driver colours.

Lightening, I see Tinnies wife Karlene (nee Thorn) originally from Kalgoorlie , trained a winner at Flemington today, at odds that touched on 200 to 1 fixed.

Great result for Graham & Karlene also owned by Terry & Kath Condipodero. They bred her,  Graham broke her into the cart and she works on the jogger everyday.
