Fantastic to See Team Williams Back Training Winners!!

West Australian Racing

Grant & Alana straight back into the Winners Circle on a Stay of Proceedings, and Lucy Fiore landing a day to day double by narrow margins.
It seems they are adapting a No Comment Approach at post race interviews, anyone know why?

It's not against the rules to refuse interviews.

No comment approach - no problem.

Paul Harvey when riding was the same. That’s fine. Very much enjoy hearing what the hoops and/or trainers have to say, and if it’s no comment that’s all good too. Ryan Moore the same - more often than not “no comment”, no worries at all just move to the next.

Imagine living in a country with a racing jurisdiction whereby didn’t have that option. That would be a concern.

100% agree with you both it was just an observation to gain some input and you are both on the money. In fact The current format of the obligatory post-race interviews are about as useful as an ashtray on a motorbike to a Punter, I far more prefer the style of Hong Kong, you get a much better look at the horses to make an informed punting position and in reality the Aussie post-race is just a wank where the trainer says something condescending about the horse like they are a genius which have turned have a sours ear into a silk purse, and then a patronising statement about the little person who rode it, and then the jockey is asked 5 different ways, do you think the horse will get a mile. BORING! Good on the Team for NO COMMENT.

I agree that they could ask more varied questions here than what we normally see, but the coverage is far better than we've ever had.

I like hearing what the losing Jockeys had to say. Still waiting for one of them to answer 'did you see which way they went?'

There’s been some interesting jockeys comments over the years too - Damian Lane after copping terrible interference in Sydney words to the effect of - I’m pleased to come back here alive.

A funny anecdote read was a jockey in SA when asked what the worst bake had received from a trainer - his reply went something like this - I had 5 rides for Darren Weir on a Saturday - the first race of the day was on the hot favourite and absolutely stuffed it ( I’ve seen the replay not a thing went right, was terrible ) but as had more rides for him later won’t be too upset.

He came back to the enclosure and Weir only said 2 words - “Go Home!”

He rode a double for him later in the day from memory.
