Just asking if GP has Kids Kart Hcp Races on between the The TAB Races . Or if the Country Tracks have them .

Called "Pony Trots" in WA. Gloucester Park used to have as a regular event, now very adhoc perhaps once or twice a year.

South West Pony Trots is very active....all meetings at Collie and Busselton feature two races per night. Pinjarra have their own Pony trots group. Not sure about other clubs other than some "guest appearances by the aforementioned groups.

Yep. Fielded at a few Marburg Cups and the kids Races are more popular than the Main Races . 200 people at Trackside last time to watch the Cup but around the South Side where the Kids Karts assemble big crowd of parents of 300 plus and Grandads and Grannies watching from fence and parked up cars. Get a bigger ovation than the Cup winner .

The country clubs in WA  support the pony trots very well with GP not giving a hoot.

Country clubs are really supportive of the pony trots. Unfortunately we face battles with some clubs and even officials with one telling me “they’re lucky to even race at all”

Sadly Albany now has 1 race before the first which makes it pointless - no crowds, no photographer, no atmosphere.

Without the support, they will disappear.

what is the reasoning for that, sounds strange to have before the actual racing starts. Has anyone taken it up with the authorities ?

I asked and was told that if there’s a delay it makes it too hard to prepare the track. Albany club sent out an official letter stating that the RWWA stewards dictate pony race times - this is not accurate at all. Clubs are in charge of that. It’s a massive shame for the kids and there is almost no atmosphere before the first race.

I’m thankful Pinjarra are great to deal with for our club, the Pinjarra Pony Trots, and we have great race times throughout the day.

South west also races throughout the meeting, usually after races 1 & 2 or races 2 & 3.

I have spoken with stewards and with Cam Brown.
