Race 1: SWAN DRAUGHT MAIDEN (1400m)

This looks like a race in two between Latorio and Caleb. Latorio is the class runner here, coming off a brilliant turn-of-foot for second at Bunbury. She’s versatile and hard to beat. However, Caleb is the local speed map specialist. He was unlucky not to win two starts back and now gets the blinkers on for the first time. On a Good 3, being up on the pace with the gear change makes him a major threat. Spangledstar is the danger if they over-cook it up front.

  • Recommended Bet: Medium (1.5 Units) on LATORIO at $2.60.

  • Bomb: Gigi Gogo ($26.00) has been honest and could sneak a place.

SelectionComment
LatorioBest final 400m in the race; peak fitness.
CalebLeader, blinkers on, major map advantage.

Market (105%): Latorio $2.40, Caleb $4.20, Spangledstar $6.00, Now Showing $8.50, Others $15+.

Race 2: MOUNT AUGUSTUS TOURIST PARK MAIDEN (1200m)

Satin Bow looks the play here. She has been very courageous in two starts at Pinjarra, sitting on the speed and fighting hard. This is a drop in grade from provincial to country, and she gets a 2kg claim with Natika Riordan. Yapper is the obvious danger, having flashed home for third last start at this track. He’s the "fifty percenter" to watch, but Satin Bow should have the tactical speed to lead them a merry dance.

  • Recommended Bet: High (2 Units) on SATIN BOW at $3.20.

SelectionComment
Satin BowProvincial form is superior; massive weight advantage.
YapperHuge run last start; local hope.

Market (105%): Satin Bow $3.00, Yapper $3.20, Rogerchinos $5.50, Nyra $9.00, Others $18+.

Race 3: GERALDTON TOYOTA HANDICAP (1200m)

A high-quality RTG 70+. Zing To Win is arguably the best horse on the card. He is a track and distance specialist (2 from 3 at Geraldton) and is a consistent "fifty percenter" (15 placings from 38 starts). While carrying 62kg is a big ask, the 2kg claim for Rocky Cheung brings him into the "manageable" category. Onemoretwomany is the danger; he’s a winner here and loves the 1200m.

  • Recommended Bet: Best Bet (3 Units) on ZING TO WIN at $4.40.

SelectionComment
Zing To WinAbsolute class advantage; loves this dirt.
OnemoretwomanyOn-speed runner who won’t quit.

Market (105%): Zing To Win $3.80, Prince Ragnar $4.50, Onemoretwomany $5.00, Gold Keeper $6.50, Others $12+.

Race 4: GREAT WESTERN INSURANCE BROKERS HANDICAP (1200m)

Scurgeofthewest is in career-best form, seeking a hat-trick of wins. He is 3 from 7 at this track and handles the 1400m back to 1200m drop well because he has high cruising speed. Queen of Hawks is the main danger, coming off a stylish Bunbury win, but she’s giving weight to the local hero.

  • Recommended Bet: High (2 Units) on SCURGEOFTHEWEST at $2.75.

SelectionComment
ScurgeofthewestWinning machine at the track; perfectly weighted.
Queen of HawksProvincial winner; huge ratings threat.

Market (105%): Scurgeofthewest $2.60, Queen of Hawks $3.10, Champeze $5.50, Sparkle Corner $9.00, Others $20+.

Race 5: COURTNEY KEEFFE ELDERS REAL ESTATE HANDICAP (1900m)

Boussac is the one they have to beat. He has won his last two starts at the track in convincing fashion. He stays at the same weight (adjusted for the 58+ grade) and is a proven "fifty percenter" at this distance range. Extra Zero has been knocking on the door with two straight seconds and represents the best "Saver" bet of the day.

    • Recommended Bet: High (2 Units) on BOUSSAC at $2.40.

    SelectionComment
BoussacPeak fitness; aiming for the hat-trick.
Extra ZeroThe bridesmaid of Geraldton; must include in exotics.

Market (105%): Boussac $2.20, Miff Muffered Moof $5.50, Butterflyrock $8.00, Extra Zero $10.00, Others $12+.

Race 6: COUNTRY COMFORT PERTH HANDICAP (1100m)

With the scratching of Spare A Prayer, this race opens up for Versaille. She is a first-up winner in the past and her recent trial win at Geraldton was sharp. She is well-weighted and has metro-quality form in her legs from Victoria. Must Be Nice is the class dropper and will be the one charging late.

    • Recommended Bet: Medium (1.5 Units) on VERSAILLE at $3.50.

    SelectionComment
VersailleTrialled like a jet; high class ratings.
Must Be NiceMetro class; 1500m back to 1100m is the query.

Market (105%): Versaille $3.20, Must Be Nice $3.80, Karri On $5.50, Live Lucky $6.50, Others $15+.

Race 7: WESTERN RACEPIX HANDICAP (1400m)

A tricky way to end the day. Deep Discretion has been incredibly consistent, including a win and a second in her last two Geraldton starts. She is a true "fifty percenter" (10 placings from 22 starts). Lim's Sarbach is the one to watch—flew home for second last start and the step up to 1400m is exactly what the trainer ordered.

    • Recommended Bet: Bet (1 Unit) on DEEP DISCRETION at $3.90.

    • Bomb: Sky River ($5.50) is better than the price suggests if she can lead.

    SelectionComment
Deep DiscretionRock solid ratings; handles the firm track.
Lim's SarbachMassive closer; needs luck in running.

    Market (105%): Deep Discretion $3.60, Lim's Sarbach $3.80, Crampin' My Style $4.20, Sky River $6.00, Others $15+.
