R1: No4 Maddy Lou @$18 really interests me. DeCampo on, fantastic positive front running driver. Don't have it having troubles finding the top, doesn't drastically have to improve on its last run, very happy to have a bet. Hunger Strike will push forward with it, I hope it doesn't push for the top, a danger sitting close, obviously a danger if it does lead. Alta Alure repeat of last race structure is in the finish. Sweet Coco continues to put in good efforts while being a work in progress, Stormyskyes is a massive price if it can get a flow in to it.

R2: No bet, thought No7 Arma Believer could lead and really push Hugotastic.

R3: No Bet. No1 Sebastian James you could argue beat better horses than these last start, looks to have a mortgage on it but will take Era as well in the EQ as a saver and as I'd cry if it won and I had no result.

R4: Backing No8 Chivalry EW mid tote. My take was The Wildcard whizzes across and tonight is the night Nathan Street pushes forward and takes it up. Punting wise i'm hopeful it isn't that simple and Chivalry can capitalise on a bit of early speed and out slug them. Think he gets the big drifts mid tote.

EQ: 4,5,8,9,12/7,8/1,7/3,6,8. 100% costs $60.

R5: No Bet. Looks a market expectation Wonderful To Fly is vulnerable at the start. I've been sucked in by Ima Fivestar General a few times, racing really well without a win, not sure it can cross and keep out the 4 but if it did you would love to be on. Will just go wide in the quad and cheer.

R6: No idea on the trotters but I did think Voaky's horse looked an EW chance at the double figures just having a read of the form.

R7: EW No7 Rockstar Quality. Looks there could be an early tussle for the front and make it a run on event. Rockstar Quality coming from some fast run races should have it in good fettle to run on well here.

R8: Small bet EW No2 Alwaysbfrank hoping that it can stay right up on the speed somewhere.

Quad: 1,3,4,9,10,11/3,4,5,9,10/1,2,6,7,10/2,6,8,12. 100% costs $600, going to need a couple of results! R9: Something small No7 Pushbutton Rock expecting that it can step a lot better than a number of the horses around it and in front if it, head to the pegs and find some gaps late.

R10: Couple of dollars No6 Gota Good Warhol
hoping that in this line up tonight is the night it finds more good luck than bad.

Anyone who puts that much effort into previewing the Friday GP Card - then you have to give them a like

Pity some other forum members dont do the same

Who knows VK might put the pads and gloves on and make a comeback

Bit of luck for Zuede to get thru but sick of nothing getting done to these drivers! MM drifted up the track that use to always be a fine when cost themselves a finishing position due to the runner getting an advantage along the pegs.

Mitchell got fined $100 in race 10 for shifting ground to advantage another runner but I agree, it happens an awful lot with little consequence.

I won a race up the inside with Lindsay shifting a normal 9k race and he got $500 fine, and not the fact that it cost us 8,000 last night the difference from 2nd to 1st

Maybe the Harness Gods didn't want the handicapper to be beaten. :D  Horse is going very well.

The original reason for fining drivers on the leading horse for drifting up the track allowing a run to their inside, was to try and stop drivers running up the track impeding horses to their outside.

What would it be , 90% of all harness racing tracks Aust wide have got a sprint lane - so the driver leading around the final turn doesnt give 2 hoots if he drifts out in the straight , thus when they go back to GP ( with no sprint lane ) maybe they dont concentrate on keeping their horse straight so something cant get up its inside

What does annoy me , if your on something coming 3 wide ( and  i have been beaten  a few times like this ) it looks like its going to win but it doesnt keep close to the outside of the horse in the breeze , and something  gets between them and beats them and if the horse 3 wide had only stayed 3 wide nothing would have got between them and it would have won the race

Fines warnings and reprimands, either mild or severe, achieve nothing. Doesn't matter what it is..... speeding, drink driving, seatbelts, unacceptable whip use, allow more care, not on the gate, not correcting the shift out under pressure, mobile phone usage, late to the parade ring, dress code.

Interesting race 10 Friday, Zuede started racing as a NR50(L1) won 11 races,105k in stakes now a NR49,   Blue Blazer NR50(L1) won 19 races,200k in stakes now NR 59,   Gota Good Warhol, NR 50(L1) won11 races 132K in stakes now a NR52,   Trittrittbangbang NR50(L1) won 180k in stakes now a NR52,  is this called handicapping?.

No, not even close.... but the frightening thing is that the disastrous and some say corrupt HWOE system was about 20 times worse, heartily endorsed by the Gordon Geckos and their RBD Giftshop. At the very most basic level, at least we have PBD in NR which has retained a slim albeit tenuous  thread to actual real handicapping.

    corrupt!
in my opinion the the HWOE part of the WA system was ok but the conditioned races being linked to it was a major issue
the HWOE part was only an adaptiom of the MC system with 2yos taking 25% penalty and 3yo taking 75% penalties - yes too generous should have been 50% for 2yos and full penalties for 3yos -
HWOE and NR both had their short comings despite both attempting to address the same issues
the two systems had more in common with similar HWOE/NR points ratios and similar matrix
what should have happened is that the best of both systems be taken to make a better system but instead a party to NR was appointed to give an unbiased  "independent opinion"  some would say that was corrupt

Corrupt wrong word....should have said "corrupted" ...in the sense that changes were made to suit pressure groups and the original concept got "corrupted"as such from it's original incarnation  via the conditioned system that overtook it......along with it's hellbent bias towards RBD. That is what really was counter productive to actual handicapping, RBD can, in harness racing where draw is so crucial especially on small tracks like GP, absolutely "corrupt" a handicapping system, any handicapping system.

Didn't see any SOUP today at Pinjarra, that $100 fine must be a greater deterrent than I thought.

Also, great to see every single driver complying with the "wrist only flicking" action with the whip and no engagement of the shoulder or elbow....Pfffft.....No fines today, they must be watching the total adherence of NZ drivers to this rule.

Was introduced on September 1st, 2020....described at the time as a "strict regulatory requirement". Been a fabulous success, the must have collected 10's of 1000's of dollars in revenue.

Harvest time down here but no "King Edwards", only Royal Blue and Prince of Orange.

Interestingly, the Manji Speedway hosted an Australian Title for Sedans last weekend. Every driver (from all over Australia) took home a big bag of spuds. Reminded me of the old days at Country tracks when you had to shoehorn the obligatory free bag of chaff into the back seat.

Jolted my memory regards GMTC and KAMBALDA clubs were big on feature winners receiving new carts,.KAMBALDA'S two meeting carnival always had carts for leading Trainer,& Driver
Mid Eighties Feature winner returned positive swab, so when dust settled the second placegetter owner requested the cart, so the club had no luck getting cart returned, then Charlie Skehan was on the case, it was drawn out, was discovered the cart had been sold.End result club payed value of the cart plus 70 dollars interest to rightful winner.
