How good is Richie Bell in a photo finish live.
Doesn't shy away from it and seems to get it right most of the time.

You would think on Irish day he would check to see wheres she from before she rode just in case she rides a winner.

Whats the quickest way to get in a fight with the Irish? Ask them if their English

Absolutely! He must have been corrected after her first winner, because he said she was Irish after the second.
Luckily he was up in the stand and not down on the lawn!

The thing that really sh!t$ me though about Richie is, when he said how far from first to last in the call...
Yesterday in race 6, prime example. At about the 500m- "Too Dardy about 10 from the leader". Fair dinkum it was 5 lengths ABSOLUTE MAXIMUM.
Is he talking in trot language and referring to 10 METRES!? There is no place in thoroughbred racing for metres for margins. Lengths Richie, lengths.

Is he is one of our best, I would hate to see our worst.

No place in Trot language for metres either but try and stop them. Lengths and fractions thereof should be mandatory......Bell seems to call the gallops a lot better than the trots where he has been diabolical for ages with incorrect names, predictive calling, maybe through his pocket, I don't know....and a degree of first name and nickname familiarity of drivers  that is very galling. For mine, the gallops can have him...for free, not my preferred style of caller. Matt Hill gave yet another masterclass yesterday at the Valley.

Matt Hill has lengths (and metres!) on almost all of his peers in my opinion

In stark contrast Amy has two rides at Laverton today including the Cup favourite. From Laverton as the song goes... It is a long way to Tipperary.

Was going to post the same thing. The last horse seems to be always 10 lengths off the leader.
