They're not confirmed as far as I know ? Still need to run safe trials next Monday and then a decision will be made

I don't wanna start a punch up here, but I find it impossible to believe ? Got an email yesterday to say that Monday July 21 will be trials to assess the safety of the refurb before hoping to race at Belmont on July 26. They cannot possibly start racing there without trialling, but I do understand your point about the website, I think that is in HOPE, although I have heard they're confident of it being OK

Definitely no argument, got an email at 11.30 this morning giving race date changes, 9 in total. Maybe its gone out prematurely. You could be right.

Are you a member ? Interesting that I am a member and have not got one today, got one yesterday which sounds like the one you are quoting ? Let's just hope it does go back on 26/7

I feel that they probably should have got through the trials first before making announcements on date changes.
If it doesn't pass, they're just going to look sillier.

Gallop and today's trial went well and Perth Racing on facebook said racing is set to go agead at Belmint on Saturday. Weather conditions to be monitored in the lead up

    Belmont transferred to Pinjarra Sat.

Came back too soon. The track apparently is buggered and reading between the lines Perth Racing admit to as much.

They say it is because of the forecast of heavy rains for Saturday, but my money is that the problem is considerably more and they have been told by an expert that 'computer says no'.

So Bunbury and Pinjarra Park to pick up the slack until the renovations at Ascot can allow a return.

Sometimes you just don't believe it can be this bad.

Suppose to be one of the best wet weather tracks not anymore. Maybe its time for a change in track management, how much money is Perth racing losing. Trainers must be pissed off .

Would Ascot based and Northern corridor Trainers, be getting subsidised for travel that simply was not part of pre season planning ? For horses that revel in Soft conditions that Belmont is more likely to throw up season after season, keeping your horses back for Ascot is not really an option. So  I would imagine that there are some Trainers that face 2,500KM extra this season on the trucks. Those km's and hours away from home base result in additional costs, so yes, I think several Trainers might be just a bit peeved.

From what I'm told is with the heavy rain possible and predicted during the races they are protecting the new section from chopping out. They have straight swapped Saturday with Pinjarra's Wednesday meeting,

Ascot cant be back until probably mid late September, Pinjarra about to go into their recess period. They by the looks taking no changes with further disruptions. Dont Bunbury grass can take much more either.

Some trainers might be unhappy but better they racing than staying home in their yards.

What happens next week with the weather not looking good for end of week, they can't keep on hammering these country tracks, fingers crossed this wet weather doesn't eventuate.

Going forward, what are the options to improve the situation that is Belmont. Obviously we need a plan so in future years we don’t lose so many meetings there each winter. The grass is fooked, it can’t handle the rain like it use too. How successful has the fibre sand at Bunbury been in everyone’s opinion? Could the inside grass at Belmont be converted to fiber sand? Seems like a sensible first step to me. Obviously the funding would be the issue, we need someone with the relevant skill set to put it into action. Or I could be completely wrong and we shouldn’t go down that path at all. Once the fiber sand was in, they could look at re doing the grass track and possibly 20 plus years down the track look at decommissioning Ascot while Building a new grandstand at Belmont to accommodate year round racing at Belmont. Obviously these are big ideas which will be hard to achieve but we need a solid vision going forward and need to give the trainers at Ascot a very long time to plan for the future. Imo the peninsula location is sensational. Optus oval, crown and GP all within walking distance and needs to be the future

The communication was they moved yesterday’s meeting to protect the newly laid “trench” section which is understandable considering the weather. But are we saying the rest of the track is no good as well after 2 meetings ?

No mate.. The trench is the issue at the moment but I was pointing out that the rest of the track is getting very old and tired and isn’t what it used to be. Going forward I would expect they will be losing meetings in coming winters as it needs some major works done. Would it not be a good idea to look into a sand fiber surface on the inner grass to prevent losing meetings until we get to a time where we can look at upgrading the grass surface. It’s going to be a long process so we need to start the planning for the future soon

The present issue is all about the 'trench' at the 250 metre. My info is the rest of the track is pretty good.

Belmont carries a massive load most of the time but some have forgotten the extra load it has carried over recent times.

The redevelopment of Pinjarra (although a few years ago) and more recently and importantly it had to do meetings through the summer to cover for the lost Bunbury meetings. Summer is the time when Belmont has significant work, not able to be done last few years.

Reckon there will be major work done to Belmont once Bunbury has settled. The demise of Belmont is greatly over stated.

Will there be Saturday racing at Belmont rain is coming in on Friday night. Track will be wet. Will the "trench" hold up.? So many questions need answering. For the sake of racing I hope the trench holds up.

Most of the rain is coming late Saturday arvo/night so the races will be safe. Nowhere near as much rain is being predicted although the bureau has been known to get it wrong occasionally
