What a golf tournament. I think it might be the best tournament I've ever seen.
The rollercoaster of emotions and excitement and disappointment makes golf the greatest sport.
I don't think I've ever cheered, gasped, screamed or even shed a year more than what I witnessed particularly on Sunday. The financial investment was small in comparison to what I didn't realize was my emotional investment into Rory. From hole 1 it was drama with an opening double and then Bryson birdieing 2, he was already on the back foot. Fast forward 8 holes and miraculous he was as much as 5 in front while only briefly.
He played 13 exactly how he should have, for 2 shots. Then unbelievable he hits his third shot into the creek, an impossible outcome for someone of his caliber. He drops 3 shots in 2 holes and whack, he's all tied up.
Ludvig and Rose and even Reed charging, it was anyone's with 4 to play.
After a booming drive on 15, Rory hit what I think was one of the best shots I've ever seen, with the amount of pressure and consequence on the line. A towering draw 7 iron to 5 feet for eagle, he misses the putt but take a 1stroke lead
Ludvig and Reed are dropping away, while Rosey is up ahead. He miraculously birdies 18 with a monster putt, reminiscent of his Open championship last year. He draws level with Rory with two holes to go.
Rory again hits an amazing iron shot into a terribly hard pin position on 17 to make the birdie and go into the final hole with a 1 shot advantage. All he needs i par for the jacket.
Rory in position A on 18 fairway, hits a gap wedge into the right hand bunker. An easy up an down normally, he hits a beauty to 4 feet for the win. And in the flavour of the day and his crushing US Open defeat last year, he misses the putt to bogey the last and finish at -11 with Rose.
He had to pick himself up again for about the 10th time, they head to 18 for sudden death and both absolutely nail their drives.
Rosey plays first and nearly dunks the thing and finishes 10ish feet from the cup, a little unlucky to not feed back to the hole.
In steps Rory, same shot as in regulations, and this time there is not push to the right, he finds the bank perfectly and rips it back to about 2 feet. The crowd are going sick.
Rosey finally steps in and pushes his putt ever so slightly right and taps in for par, leaving roroy to finish off. Heart in mouth for all, he hits the 2 footer dead centre and claims his Green Jacket after 14 years of pain and criticism and it all comes out of him.
I don't know how he did it. His resilience is unmatched. He tried to lose it 12 times. But now he gets to come back forever.
Financially, 33 units jumps back in which was well needed, the bet was made back in January.
His win also keeps me alive in the doubles, trebles and all 4 multis for the majors, with Ludvig (PGA), Scottie (US Open) and Hatton (The Open) the remaining legs, with collects from $600 to $100K all still live.
He might just win all 4 now with the career grand slam monkey off his back.

At RBC Heritage, most of the big names suit up again in this designated event.
The heavy favorite is raining champ Scheffler at $4.
I've gone back to the well this week with Xander Schauffele. He is $16.40 with TabTouch with money back if he gets within 10 shots. Good enough for me and have had 2.5 units here pre tournament.
It won't be a Masters quality event but it's an event nonetheless and we love it.

Xander is 7 back at -5. He has played fine, just cannot get a putt to drop.
I'm backing him again at $51. The putts will start dropping and if they do early in round 3 I'll look like a genius.

Xander birdied the first two holes of the day and was looking good. Had 6 birdies on the day. But unfortunately countered with 4 bogies and a double to shoot even par and take himself out of the tournament.
Of course, recently backed players Justin Thomas and Chan Kim are up on the leader board, one behind Si Woo Kim.
Have a sweat in the euro with Jordan Smith only 3 back. Looks like that's the only hope this week

Scheffler is $10 to win and is only 4 back. He could be a bet for those looking
Also, at Corales, of you want some value outside of the leader, Vincent Whaley at $17 could be a show.
I've had 0.5 units at 170 for a miracle/interest.
JT wins the Heritage in a playoff from Novak.
He's been knocking on the door and unfortunately I didn't answer this week!
Also, old mate Garrick Higgo wins at Corales for the second PGA tour win in his career. Followers of the golf thread may remember his first win years ago when I got him fresh from the Europe tour. Great seeing him back in the winners circle.
LIV Mexico 4 units
Patrick Reed $16 - coming off an impressive 3rd placing at the Masters, he has hit form and is due to finally win his first LIV event in Mexico.
LPGA Chevron Championship 4 units
Minjee Lee $23 - she finished close up last week and essentially lost the tournament within 4 holes on the last day with 4 bogies in a line. She's back to her best and excels in the bigger events
Zurich Classic 4 units
Rory and Lowry $4.75 - hard to go past the reigning champs and the latest Masters winner. I reckon they've started a dominant run in the event and can see them winning again
Extra bet - Zurich to be decided by a playoff at $5.
Being a teams event and then weird scoring, it wouldn't surprise to see a log jam at the top. Good price for a playoff. 4 units.

This week there are two events of interest.
The CJ Cup on the PGA Tour and LIV golf Korea.
The CJ Cup is one of the last lead ups to the PGA Championship in a few weeks. Scheffler has turned up and is a prohibited 3.75 favorite. I think ill steer clear early on but eye catchers are Sungjae Im ($23), Mac Hughes ($34) and Gary Woodland ($81).
At LIV Korea, I'm having a stab at Brooks Koepka at $23 for 2 units. The only reasons being that he loves the PGA in a few weeks and performs well this time of year in the lead ups. Also, Niemann just tied him for most LIV wins and something tells me his competitive nature won't let that last. A purely speculative bet.
The 3.75 before the tournament looks unbelievable. Even the 1.50 after round 1 looks amazing compared to the 1.08 now.
Hindsight is a wonderful thing, but a wire to wire winner was $11. It's a bet I've had a few times and it didn't even cross my mind this week.
Anyway, it's over
At LIV, Brooks is paddling at -1, six back from the leaders. He needs a couple of 65s be into it.
At Truist, Sepp Straka took the win from Shane Lowry and Justin Thomas by 2 shots. Aberg was in 4th gear the whole week. He just parred his way around the course and slipped up occasionally and plodded to a +1 finish. Schauffele better, but not enough, finishing T11.
At Myrtle Beach, Ryan Fox wins in a 3 way playoff from Mackenzie Hughes and Harry Higgs. My pick Kevin Yu, finished strongly and fell one bloody shot short with a couple of sloppy bogies on the back nine.
Of course, my girl Thitikul got the job done on the LPGA without me on. My pick, Nelly Korda plodded home after being in contention going into round 4.

Onto the PGA championship!
The three big boys, Scottie, Bryson and Rory are all coming off wins or very hot form and add in the star studded players from all tours and you have a recipe for a success.
Quail Hollow is a long course, suited to those who absolutely murder it off the tee. Quote simply, smash it as hard and far as you can and give yourself the best chance at approach. Hence Rory and Bryson up there in the betting. Rory has won 4 times here, including a PGA Championship. He owns this place. Such is his dominance, he gains 2.8 strokes per round to the field over at least 24 round. Basically, he is unbeatable here over 4 rounds according to the stats. Bryson is having around 2 strokes on the field, just off the tee. This is amazing and if he can maintain this he will be there at the end. It takes about 16-17 strokes gained to win the thing, so these two have half the job done on there stats alone. Scottie picks himself, his advantage comes from his driver but also, on the longer fairway approaches he is the best of the lot and his proximity gives him a massive advantage, especially on the makeable par 5s.
It is very wet, which will make playing from the fairway a premium. The sub air infrastructure under the greens has kept them well ventilated and they won't be as soft as they normally would with this amount of rain. Expect players to approach the green not by pin hunting, but by rolling the ball up to the hole. This works in Rory's favour, as he as openly said that he has changed his approach game this year with the implementation of the TP5 ball.
I've been bullish on Ludvig Aberg for a while now. He did himself no favors last start when he couldn't get a birdie to save his life. I have him outright at $21 and in multis with Rory Masters. He is $26 now at the moment and worth a bet, he hits it straight and long and high, all important here. If he can find the putter he will be absolutely all over it. After all he was leading the Masters on the back 9 before destroying his chances on 18. I've got 2.5 units Aberg at $21. I won't count the multis (yet haha).
My pick for this is Rory. He is the best player at this venue for 10 years. He is coming off a Masters win. The pressure is off. He has the swagger of someone who has been released of any pressure. At $6 he is a bet with TabTouch, money back to get within 10 shots. It's the safest bet you'll ever make. 5 units here.
Had a sneaky first round leader bet as well. Justin Rose WD last start with illness, could/should have won the Masters. He turns up at the PGA with 4 top 10s in the last 5 years. 1 unit each way at $81.
It's going to be a classic. Players tee off at 7pm WA time. Good viewing and good luck
Meanwhile, Rory finishes at +3 and played his worst round of golf ever at Quail Hollow. The only way is up for him he couldn't hit a fairway and could not hit a putt.
He is 8 back from the leaders.
The only saying grace is that is was 8 back after round 1 at the Masters.
He won't lose. Simple as that. He is the best player in the world by a country mile and this tournament has proven that.
Rory on the other hand, shoots another +1 round to be +2 for the championship. He hasn't got out of first gear and the reason is he cannot hit a fairway. His main weapon is gone. Interesting, and very frustrating, it was reported on Friday evening that Rory isn't using his normal driver, as his current driver was deemed non conforming. This was done on the Tuesday and the USGA are not allowed to report the results, only the players are. Hence why it wasn't reported. UNBELIEVABLE.
He notoriously went back to the old back a week before Pebble, and it worked wonder since. Now he has to change for this tournament and bang, he can't hit the fucking thing to save his life. The problem was the face apparently, thinned out from use.
Very disappointed. As mentioned, the best player in the world at this course for the last 10 years. Also, there has been a little arrogance creep in this week and it's not becoming of him at all. Not a good week for Rory and his die hard fans.
Anyway, hopefully he can finish within 10 shots and salvage money back.
Ludvig missed the cut. He was horrible. Actually was a chance to make the cut but a few late bogies killed his chances.
One last gripe. There has been NO coverage in Australia till 1am WST on all 4 rounds, which is an absolute disgrace. Considering the players tee off around 8pm, and on the first two rounds the world numbers 1-2-3 were in a featured group which you couldn't watch. I'm absolutely livid, a long with plenty other on X.
ESPN + had 6 streams of different featured groups etc and gold old Kayo could evening show one of these till the second wave went out in the afternoon groups. You can't even pay to watch the stream on ESPN+ with regional restrictions in place, even with a VPN (believe me, I tried).
It's 2025. Why we can't pay to watch what we want, when we want, is a mystery.
Anyway, they tee off shortly and coverage doesn't start for another 5 hours. So good luck getting up early to watch Scheffler stroll home in his 3rd Major.
No rest for the wicked, they tee it up again this week in a PGA tour event where Scheffler is 3.25 favorite with next best Tommy Fleetwood at $19
Early days Harris English looks a great each way bet at $36. He is coming off a great PGA championship and a few years ago he won off a great US Open campaign. When he hits form he usually backs it up
Scheffler playing is a testament to his hunger to play and win. Lots of other players have opted out this week but this guy just loves playing. And why wouldnt he with his game.
He's won his last two starts by 8 and 5 shots, and that could have been more.
Those happy taking the shorts should be. 3.50 is a gift of a price for someone who is this dominant. After all, he is only 4.50 for the upcoming US Open, a much tougher and bigger test.
I think he just wins again. 25 units here to collect 87.5.
Those looking for some value, it lies with Harris English and JT Poston. Both played well at the PGA and of there was to be an upset I think these two can be thereabouts on Sunday on the back nine. They were both $41 and I have had 2.5 units on each to collect 102.5.
A massive 30 units out this week.

This week coming into the Memorial half way through. It's a packed up leaderboard with Taylor and Griffen leading the way at -7.
I've backed a couple.who are finding form at the right time.
Burns, shot a 65 overnight and is 4 back. I've had my eye on him and at $21 at the half way mark, it's worth a bet
Xander Schauffele, he is 5 back, again had a nice round overnight and looks to be putting some consistent scoring together. Again, with a shot at $15.
Scheffler lurking at -4 and is currently 2.75 fav.

PGA Tour - Keith Mitchell first round leader at $51. He tends to play a good Thursday so we'll ride the wave here. May invest midway through.
LIV - Leishman at $51 to have a good week. Qualified for the US Open on Monday and is in form.
Euro - Kristoffer Reitan is the hottest man on that tour at the moment, have lobbed into the $34 to continue the form. A bit of a spec bey on Marcel Siem at $81, who reckons his game is very close.
