Government backing a $1million slot race from next year on Cup Day.

    Why not just boost the cup. A 1200m slot race at that time of year wont suit anyone from over east (too busy trying to win g1s this time of year or getting into the Everest) and wont suit the Winterbottom horses. And what does it do to yhe Hannans? Why race in that?

    Not that it's a huge difference, but I think it's 1100m.
    Agree though, that it is at an awkward time of the racing calendar

    The round concept has nearly been total destroyed.RWWA couldn't save harness racing blaming tyranny of distance .When Richard Burt said 87 per cent of horses travelled every meeting, when in fact the three main stables were domiciled in Kalgoorlie for season, The particular stables addresses were showing as Darling Downs, Byford, Pinjarra. Starters subsidy went to those regions.

    But the Government for crowds, tourism should allocate money round week 50k Balzano wheelbarrow race, 50k GoldenMile Footrace from Star and Garter to federal hotel,Hannans Hcp, morning like it use to be.-----2k. For eveyhorse that travels from other areas Three meetings in the week. Allow 500k.

    50k towards Broadarrow day. on the thursday.for events.

    Bet you would get more then ten slot holders, who probably be Williams racing- Inglis, Tabtouch, Ladbrokes, -Simon Miller racing etc & all over in 1.10. Top up minor races with the other 350k.

    Agree STG. Broadarrow Thursday years ago was one of the highlights of the week. Running races with cash prizes blokes fielding on them. All the racing and trotting crew out there. Not very responsible but no one worried about the coppers pulling you over and putting you on the bag because basically it didn’t happen. Nowadays you wouldn’t think about it
