Good to see mate relax max.

Just cracked my first cider Freo. Settling in for a night of golf and AFL. Doesn’t get any better than that. \:D/

Missed the race Freo. Just returned with the Friday night KFC. Checked the IPad and saw off.
So too late for me to get on.
See it ran 4th. Any interest in the horse ?

Nah mate GP clutching at straws.
    See Nic Nat done again.
  • detonatordetonator    4,397 posts
Yes. Nic out. Was only just going against Carlton. Save him for the home games.
Only interest in this weeks game is how our mid season pickup goes Jai Culley.
Covid going to impact a lot of clubs in the run home.
Long season when your not in contention.

I think the opposite Deto. Great year to not be in contention. Teams like the Dorkers could have their best season for a long time and in the 3 weeks leading in to finals lose half their team.

Whereas we can cruise to the line, blooding young players, setting up for next season not worried about the outcomes. All we have to do is have 22 players that want to play as a team and then finish up in about 4 weeks and get an extra 5 weeks of leave.. First and second round choices galore...Happy days

Well done to the Kangaroos today.
The joy on the faces of the fans was gold. Mostly young fans too which makes it even more memorable.
Emotional Gold Coast win last week was special. This was even more special.=D>

Sydney did a Fremantle on Fremantle last night. Pressure was dialed up.
Sydney are an enigma though. Can’t trust which Sydney is going to turn up.
Not sure Fremantle had their “A” game. 9 goals ain’t going to cut it. Thought “Ross the Boss” was back there for a while lol.
“brand Fyfe” needed to impose himself more. Can’t always leave it to Brayshaw to provide the inspiration. Thought Lobb did his job.
Would be thinking hard about not trading him out to make room for Jackson. Done enough to give the Fremantle hierarchy plenty to think about I reckon.

Good to see that the leprechaun has time to find a $19m waterfront mansion while his customers deal with cancelled flights and lost baggage at a scale never been seen before.

Is that the same Alan Joyce that coached East Fremantle in the 1970s?

AFL players run onto the ground with game plays swirling in their heads. Rotation advice etc etc.
Tell me why it is so difficult when you are behind on the scoreboard to go man to man.
Would have to be the easiest instruction in footy but the least carried out. I don’t get it.:-/

Might have been John Todd - he coached East Fremantle around that time frame - before he coached Swan Districts

Interesting with Todd had great success with SD - but the2 years with WestCoast were pretty lean and ordinary

I actually worked with a bloke - long time ago - but he had a mate ( can remember his name ) who played under Todd  at  East  Freo - and we were in the office one day talking footy - and i said to him - what did your mate think of Todd as a coach . And he said his friend and a few of the other players wernt a great fan of him as coach

And i obviously asked him why - and he said - look Todd could be adressing the players - and he would say stuff like - look i was a champion player because of blah blah blah - or - this is what made me a champion player blah blah blah

He said - some of the players wernt too fond of that

Todd's record speaks for itself. He freely admits that he could not coach in the present era with the primadonnas and the mental health issues that prevail. Never heard of Todd praising himself to his players that sounds much more like a Barry Cable trait.

The Alan Joyce I mentioned definitely coached at East Fremantle and the only reason I raised in jest was he had the same name as the Qantas CEO.

    Primadonnas hey Chariots

Final qtr last  night - i reckon i saw a few in the Fremantle side - when the Swans really turned the screws

Still reckon they won’t make the eight Marko.

If you are talking about Freo - FD - what i find a massive risk - the Dockers for the top 4 are $1.70 - that to me is huge unders

Theve got Rich at the MCG early market Tigers $1.80 Frem $2 - so they aernt favourite - then theve got Melb in WA - thats a huge challenge - then the Dogs in Melb - another danger game - then W/C and GWS which they should win

Still think the Demons will win the premiership - they will make it 2 in a row - theve got gears the other teams havent got

It does indeed Chariots, and the great man still contributing. He addressed our players pre-match yesterday via amplified  speaker phone in the change rooms prior to the annual Todd Cooper Cup clash. Never mentioned himself once and something must have worked, at half time it was Deanmill 12.4 to Imperials 2.3.

Alan Joyce was coaching at Perth post his East Fremantle stint when I was working at Lathlain Park. Took over from Ken Armstrong. It wasn't a hugely successful stint but he later went onto coach Hawthorn to a couple of flags. I wouldn't trust being reunited with my baggage any time soon if you flew with the current Alan Joyce inspired gutted remains of Qantas.

No doubt the disappointing loss on Sat night probably cost Freo any chance of a top two finish.
To label them primadonnas is pretty unfair Marko considering most gave Freo no hope of making the eight.
As far as danger games, we’ll maybe have a look at the fixtures for the remainder of the eight as there is plenty of danger games that don’t involve Fremantle.
I have already bought my GF tickets, not saying we will make it but prepared to take the chance.
    Might see you there.

If i was a Dorker supported i'd be booking mine too Freo.

There is a bit of good luck and bad luck going around. If they keep the passion, they should make their own luck, barring Covid ****. So  big push for discipline on and off the field in the next 5 weeks, an they are as good a chance as most.

Melbourne and Carlton are my throws at the dartboard, but it is a year of chances from anywhere in the 8 i reckon.

JJ Toddy couldnt be at Fremantle Oval on Saturday to present the John Todd Cup after the SD vs SF game due to covid so what a marvel he is to still do his prematch address to the Deanmill boys over the speaker phone probably feeling under the weather.

Marko Todd got the WCE into the Finals in his first season as coach there and they went only went under in the last minute due to a Gary Lyon snap on goal in the Elimination Final (Top 5 in those days not this Top 8 rubbish). He then after a season of seeing the shenanigans going on off field by a number of their players cleared most of those out like Zanotti, Ishchenko, Gastev, W.Matera, O'Connell, Wrensted etc whilst their best player Ross Glendinning retired at seasons end. Despite having an ordinary 1989 he did get games into the new young players like Sumich, McKenna, Turley, Pyke, Waterman, Watters etc who would be first game regulars in their dominate seasons in the 90s!

I thought that the game on Sunday ws a good display for both teams. The Hawks are a season in front of the Weagles on the road to recovery, but both showed a good mix of youth and experience.

The Eagle will need to shed a few more of those 30-100 game players that are just not stepping up. And remove th3m totally from th club, to allow the younger fellas to come through and some of the ones that are left just relax a bit about their place in the club and play the team game

You bring Allen, Long, Chesser and McGovern into that team and we would've been a lot more competitive. Hawks may well finish in the top of the bottom 8, which is where the Weagles should be next season.

Basso, Brough - both the boys in the ruck - and now Culley have all held there own. Put those 9 players with Barrass, Witherden, Hearn, Gaff, Redden, Shuey, Kelly, Waterman, Cripps, Ryan, Rioli and Darling (if not traded) and you have a good base to build from.....And in the wings is NicNat, Yeo and whoever they draft in.

Looking better as far as i am concerned than 5 games ago.,,,Bring on 2024

I dont usually respond to his rubbish Chariots but sometimes you just have to show them up when they are so completely wrong all of the time!

I also could have mentioned John Todd coached EF to the 1974 WAFL Premiership, WA to the 1983 & 1984 Australian Championships accounting for Marko's beloved Vics & SA both years, coached Australia to a series win in Ireland in the gaelic game after the 1984 season and of course after his WCE days coming back to coach both SD & SF to upset WAFL flags in 1990 & 1997 respectively all outside of his Swans 1980s era he supposedly only succeeded in as a coach but I didnt want to make a complete fool of him!

Precious little Swan District supporters - allways  very touchy about their club

And the guy who told me was a top flite professional engineer -  didnt say it a nasty way about Todd - but thats what he told me - and he had a friend who played at East Fremantle

The problem with this forum - is if you tell the truth - you get disliked

Where as your good self and Chariots and Jay Jay and a few others - you hold hands and make daisy chains - alah you like each others posts - even if they are rubbish posts - you give them a like even if it is complete nonsense - just to keep sweet with them - just plain ridiculous - but thats what some people are like- id like rather good robust debate

Todds 2nd year at West Coast - i heard the late Bob Davis - and he wasnt just some internet knob

And he heard or overheard Todds spray at half time - im pretty sure it was a game down at Geelong and they were getting thrashed - and Bob just shook his head - and said thats not the way to get your players up. And of course there was that game at Essendon where they kicked 1 goal for the game - to about 25 - thats clearly a coach  who has lost his players - and thats one of the reasons he got sacked at the end of the year

And of course there was that state game where Todd was coach - and again alah a sports forum - im just repeating what someone said- and im testing my memory - and it was 6-7 years ago

It was Kim Hagdorn on the radio  - and he said along the lines - WA  were getting walloped  and at h/time Todd none too pleased  and gave Buckenara a hell of a spray - like you are hopeless Bucky - you havent touched the ball yet Bucky - the only problem with that - is Gary  Buckenara had been on the interchange bench the entire 1st half - and apparently Bucky gave Todd a nice spray back
  • VillageKidVillageKid    2,357 posts
Once again you tell porky pies.
I can find no data at all in my extensive football library that Gary Buckenara started on the bench and stayed there for an entire 1st Half in a game WA got thrashed by Victoria with John Todd as coach.
Mind you mentioning Hackdorn was probably enough evidence to suggest ****!

You and your extensive football library - what a load of craap - we have to take that as the gospel do we

And i knew youd play the man and have a go at Kim Hagdorn - simply because it is different to your opinion
