That would be nice for you Deto, then all he would need to do is find about 25 quality players.

You do realise your Colliewobbles are the only team we have beaten this year ?

Gil reckons the AFL is "listening" to fans that want to retain tradition and don't want a night Grand Final....just like they have listened to all those wanting the draft age raised by a couple of years.....or to the vast majority who would finally shut down the money bleed that has been both GWS and Gold Coast that have redefined the term money pit, merge both of those  dysfunctional disasters with North and relocate to Tasmania, thus giving rise to an engaged football state and market,  a 16 team competition and less dilution of the talent pool.

The 'listening" will result in initially a twilight Grand Final, no change to the draft age and a continuation of the propping up of two clubs in a hostile environment Aussie Rules wise. Meanwhile, grass roots footy continues it withering decline.

Re night GFs - i will give you my view

I was visiting someone interstate - and i happened to fluke getting a ticket to the 1995 Night  Preliminary final between Nth Melb and Carlton - and to this day that is the best atmosphere i have experienced ever at a football game

2 Powerhouse Melb clubs at the time - it was drizzly rain all night - theyd kick it down one end - Carey - the supporters would go nuts - the excitement - then theyd kick down the other end Kernaghan - again the excitement - the anticipation it was fantastic

However i suppose the atmosphere depends on which clubs supporters - same era i took my dear mother to a night game at the WACA between West Coast and Melb ( David Neitz might have been capt of the Dees - but he was playing that night i can remember that ) and she turned to me midway through the 2nd qtr - and because it was so silent - she said to me - are we at the Opera .

Just a comment on the umpire dissent uproar and this is coming form one of the biggest umpire bashers of all time I would use it to fuel the fire as a player.
The general atmosphere and attitude at junior footy and community footy has improved through the roof this year after no one is allowed to engage with the umpire just cop it on the chin and move on as I tell the boys or in rugby league they say swallow it and play on.
The AFL has pulled out a genius move from the top down so everyone else just has to accept it we couldnt get umpires either so had to happen.

Simpson is safe for this and most of next season if he wants to stay...

How good was it to see so many past premiership players and coaches down at Mineral Resource Park. It gave the younger guys a real sense of what the club was and is about....

Something that the poor old Dorkers will never be able to do!!! ;-)

Read Paul Haselby’s column in the paper today suggesting Gaff and Naitanui should go to another club to chase elusive Premiership glory. WTF
Must have been a slow news day to write that fiction.
Not sure at their stages of their careers that they would be remotely interested in doing that.
Cmon Paul…..deliver some articles with a bit of substance FFS.

What the club is about ???
Well currently they are on the bottom of the ladder with the lowest % in the history of the AFL.
What the club was about ???
We’re Kerr, Chick, Cousins and a raft of other players who have had their lives destroyed by what this club is about whilst being coached by a chemist) ??
Simpson is safe for this year and most of next year ??? WTF does that mean, he’s either staying or he’s leaving because he’s not up to it.
The longer WCE clowns just assume that they will just miraculously recover from the mess they are in the longer they will remain in the bottom eight.
Do you seriously think they are just going to wave a magic wand and pull eighteen A graders out of their arse and be back in the top 4 in five years ??
It is a mere advertising campaign by WC and their media minions to hold onto members walking away.
Suggest you all read Mick Malthouses comments earlier in the week.
    Eight year rebuild.

The Eagles are a serious industry FD and if you aren't aware of that then you really are a dil.

Collingwood, Carlton and to a lesser extent Hawthorn are similar. They attract quality, due to how they go about their business.Anyone can highlight a few failures if that is what they want to do.... People who didn't take the chances presented to them. In the same era you mention you can throw in McKenna, Brennan, Cox, Judd, Lewis, etc, etc All who have used their opportunity positively.

Within 5 years the Eagles will be having an influence on the finals. That's what good companies do. Make a mistake and learn from it. The past 3 years they have made some decisions that have turned out to be horrendous mistakes.

They. will learn from it...and will be a very competitive team, in the finals within 5 years. I sincerely hope in that period the dorkers can get 1 or even 2 premierships. They are building nicely and the addition of Longmuir was a decision they made that has turned out to be as good a decision as any club has made in the past few years.

But if they dont get 1 or 2 in that time. The Eagles will come back a lot stronger than they were, and you guys will wait another 30 years for your next chance.....

Age demographic suggests Freo will be top 8 side next 8–10 years.
Also suggests Geelong on the edge of a very big cliff. You can only regenerate so many times I suppose.

It would be beneficial for Gaff and west coast to part ways. It would be win/win for both.
He would hold some currency if he can get some form in the back end of the season.
He has a sick dad back in Melbourne too I believe.
I for one would like to see him at Carlton, as we have no wingers and one of them(lochie O'Brien) sleeps with the light on, he is that scared.

    Your possibly right about Geel

Your bagging the shiit out of W/Coast - the only difference presently between Eagles and Cats is W/Coast have been slaughtered by injuries Shuey Yeo Nic Nat - O Allan etc

The only thing Eagles have done wrong is the Kelly trade - but thats  the system i - if you are up for along time and win stuff - you have to tumble down the bottom - that is the system

The trouble with Frem - i dont think they are anywhere near as good as they are being hyped - plus they have got a giant obstacle - called Melb FC - next 3-4 years - no one is winning anything bar them

You keep bringing the drug issue up  at W/Coast which was many years ago - what about Haw and all their silent strikes which got swept under the carpet

And what about that StK player who has been  charged with serious drug trafficking - now i can remember around 3-4 final  years  of his  career - Caro saying at time - they are very worried about his  off field behaviour - and at that point in time who was he great mates with - and who did he go with to America on an end of season trip

Bottom line - there would be alot of skeletons in the closet in alot of AFL Clubs

I am not bagging the shit out of WC.
    They are actual facts.
I am actually questioning this charade that says they don’t stand for sub performance, don’t rebuild etc etc.
If you refer to Rios last comment that is what I was reacting to.
Somehow WC demise is linked to Fremantle.
WC are no different to any AFL club,, that is my point.

Freodockers . the only ones who destroyed  Chicks Cousins and  Kers life and the other raft of players you talk about were Chicks Cousins and Kerr . To blame the football club for what has happened to them after their footyball journey has finished is folly.

Not sure Carlton would want a 30 year old Gaff. Unfortunately his best days are behind him.
If you are playing a chunk of games at Marvel then not sure that ground suits him either.
I understand his Dad situation but he has an an opportunity before now to go back home.
Will be an interesting watch on how he goes this weekend. Our players have missed so much footy that I forget what their worth is and what they bring to the table. Especially in their latter years and post injury and Covid setbacks.

Read on Perth Now that Nic and his partner are expecting their first kid……Phuck me. That is all we need.
Nic dining out on Uber eats and having sleepless nights.
It is easier to pick which players don’t have kids as opposed to those that do.
We are the “family” club. They are changing the name at Minerals Resources Park from the West Coast Eagles Football Club to the West Coast Eagles Crèche.
For those that think this is “tongue in cheek”….well think again. I am deadly serious.
Is a top professional sporting club supposed to develop and nurture a winning culture or is it all about a friendly family kid and pet environment ?
Seriously we are PHUCKED with a capital F.
