Good Friday Ascot & Kalgoorlie - 15th April

West Australian Racing

The Marjorie Charleson is a cracker this year.
they talk about how well weighted Flirtini is in the race, but she hasnt run well in two campaigns and I thought the trial was average.
The market has the two fillies as hardest to beat (Buzzoom/Searchin Rocs).

Chrisso... had to add Kal to the thread!
Its going to be a big Good Friday in the Nelson household.

Used to be the worst day on the public holiday calendar.
    Not any more!

Gents, also do not forget the return of the mighty Showmanship at Sale at around 1.55PM.
1100 and gate 2 probably not ideal i'll just be looking for a storming finish hopefully with a clear run "blocker" Lane is on though..gets in on the limit.
Would be awesome if he won pre injury was good enough to beat these.

    Few early punts,

R1 Sheikh It in a small but typically lottery type of race
R2 Not overly confident but settled on Silver Bugg and Celtic Grey
R3 Bent Leg Boris at decent odds to improve
    R5 Bambun Boy (best)

    Ascot
R5: No6 Man Of The Hour - ready to win now for Micky G.
    Kal
R1: No2 Pedal Power - Kid just needs to pull it out and it will give them wind burn.
R3: No6 First Moment - Racing well and the rider engagement is a huge plus.

The two fillies in the market look the most likely in the Charleson but if Amasenus was able to get an economical run(over to you Brad)she has proved very competitive in this grade, nearly won the Scenic Blast fresh with 58kgs.

First a no race because the race was 100m short. That could only happen in Perth.

As if it’s not hard enough already for owners to win a race ????

That would be the fair option, the horses still ran and it would be wrong to penalise the participants

They should have to donate it to the Good Friday appeal

you'd think SOMEBODY would have picked it up. the connections of at least 1 of the runners, the experienced stewards? 100m is quite a distance. if i had a runner, i'd pick it up, no worries.

could there be a class action each claiming the winners prize?

Probably doesn’t help the end result but for future reference Sheik It was the horse that would of benefited the most with the extra 100m

RWWA released a statement on CRIS that they will pay stake money to each as they finished over the line.

someone maybe able to link it in

p.s. you'd think darren mc. would have picked it up..he would have called hundreds of races from the 2100 & 2200m starts.

That’s a massive win for frequent friar…prize money with no ratings points!

My question is, in the short time before correct weight was declared, who brought it to the attention of stewards? A punter who backed a loser or a bookie who laid the winner?
  • thefalconthefalcon    20,471 posts
i'd say a sharp eyed steward* or maybe darren mc.

    * not one of the 3 blind mice...

    So that's what happened..
Makes a mockery of what I got told a long time ago.
Steward in charge had to tick off that everything was as it should be.
Can a steward be suspended for incompetence?

It's not the first time either.
I can remember one race being 20m short, and nothing happened until i mentioned it on here.

Do jockeys get paid more if they win a race coming between runners rather than around them??

Just looking for a reason why Kristy Bennett wouldn’t have just yelled the right reign on Cryptic Love at the top of the straight.

Rode it exactly the same way the previous start.. Barriers haven't helped.

1 win from 93 city rides this season.

Was that when Buster Bash led and won by 4L?

Yes. 49 rides ago. Might struggle to get back on it as Jett rated it perfectly yesterday.

Wouldn’t they have run a world record.
Would have thought the time run would have alerted a few.
