Grant and Alana Williams training partnership is no more

West Australian Racing
Grant will apparently be the sole trainer going forward, not sure if it just an interim measure.

My assumption would be that Alana is unvaccinated and therefore cannot be in the partnership, she would also be unable to ride trackwork I guess, so that would be a major blow to Grant

So one jab won't cut it for a trainer to start a horse this week?

Can’t see much changing for their operation apart from her name no longer being in the racebook and not being allowed to attend raceday, you guys don’t think they have enough staff already to step up and take on some extra responsibility? 8-|

Pretty sure Alana wont be able to touch a horse in regard to its training for a race by the new rules, even on their own property.
Considering how everyone, including Grant and Willie were praising the final touches that Alana had put on horses leading up to a race,
I think it could make a difference.

I understand that to be the case as well.  However If anyone at RWWA could explain how an unvaccinated person riding work at a private property is a risk to anybody or for racing to continue I’d be pretty keen to hear that explanation.

You must have relevant license to be working with racing thoroughbreds,-- re strappers. trainers, trackwork riders.-- there stables would registered with rwwa on application form for trainers. each year insurance is mentioned.

The Government have said there could be a 50k.fine or up to 12 months imprisonment with failure to comply covid 19 emergency directions. So RWWA have outlined there double vax. rules, so i imagined if the stewards rocked up and ALana was riding racing thoroughbreds it could come under the governments penalties.

    Would that be right?

Why did it take the stewards 4 months to get the results back? That seems an awful long time

Sugar Cain cost me quite a bit of money that day. It really irks me finding out it was running around with morphine in its system.

Racing and Wagering Western Australia’s (RWWA) Stewards have been advised by the Chem Centre in Perth that codeine and morphine had been detected in the sample taken from SUGAR CAIN following it competing in and winning Race 8 at Belmont Park on 25 September 2021.

Can an unvaccinated person hold a strappers or trainers license.
If the answer is no then she can’t work the horses even if it’s on private property.

That’s undeniably the truth as it stands now.  The question is is that a proportionate response to the current situation?  Anyone who thinks the current mandates aren’t a vindictive mandate to punish those who don’t comply is dilusional.  More and more main stream media are finally acknowledging this so hopefully the push back movement can grow.  This is from someone who just had their 3rd jab today, my choice

On reading these new rules its a bit more complicated than that, actually a bit silly.
A  trainer who is not vaccinated still has his licence but it is suspended until they are fully vaxxed.
They can have horses on their property and are bound by the rules of racing, but under no circumstances can they train or prepare a horse to race.
The welfare of the horses come into play here,so they allowed to attend to their needs, feed water, clean yards etc.
Don't think their would be too many owners leaving their horses with a trainer who is not allowed to train and if they did (one would wonder) .
A owner/trainer situation may be different, but these rules, with half measures, sure are going to complicate matters.
Does exercise become a welfare issue ,(had to get the horse out of the box etc),
    Lets make it simple,
    Either in or out.

Bit like being disqualified except you can keep your horses on your property.

the push back is real. This mandate bullsh&t will be over in 6 months, perhaps 12 months time.
I got refused service at a bar in leederville a few weeks back due to not being able to prove i was vaxxed. I am triple vaxxed. I have three different certificates but the noddy behind the bar didnt like any of my ID.
This is not how it was supposed to be.

To take away the living of a trainer who is working from their own property AND their home... is wrong. To stop a person going to a bottle shop is just wrong.
In the williams communication... they said they expect the split of the training partnership to be temporary and I totally agree... it will be temporary.....this madness will end and we'll all shake our heads in hindsight and wonder how they got away with it.

Unfortunately that will achieve nothing as it’s easily dismissed as the far right anti vaxxers and to be honest most protests actually are pretty full of those sorts who do no help.  What it needs is normal people actually saying they don’t agree with living in a community that has 2 tiers of citizens.

If the jab dramatically reduced catching and passing on COVID then maybe there’s a point but 50,000 cases a day in NSW which had a 92% double vaccination rate blows that out the water. It’s now just a case of not wanting to back down which is petty but that’s politics

Half right Precision.....It'll achieve nothing, but not for the reason you state.

It'll achieve nothing as RWWA is a fully owned government entity, and will follow whatever the government tells it to do. And that is no matter who is in government, or what industry people think.
