Adam Simpson seemed a bit frustrated as to why his club missed out on $2,000,000 revenue on the weekend on AFL 360 tonight.

    Watched footy classified last night.
Matthew Lloyd said he had Justin Longmuir on his radio show earlier that day.
Lloyd said Longmuir sounded flat as a tack and dissolutioned.
Wonder if his mood was dictated by the fact that his team are now forced to play in Brisbane against a rampaging Lions team that have found their mojo, because of finances due to spectators being locked out of Optus ?
For those thinking they will get the return game back at Optus in round 22 so all is good.
By then we will be in the depths of winter. Fremantle will not be making finals and Brisbane will be up and about for finals with Lachie Neale and Berry back in the team.
Freo fans will be saying see you next year.....And the beat goes on.

Doubt whether Tim Kelly's comments post match made one bit of difference to Hawthorns planning for West Coast this week.
Got 42 possessions. Half of those contested. Won the medal.
    Hawks have tagger in Worpel.
Reckon Clarkson would have already had that one covered.

Ross Lyon a prospective coach of Collingwood Fantasy, Fallacy, Fiction or Fact.

If it happens I may have to align myself with Oldhendo and Skids and join the Magpie Army as my second team. I did follow Collingwood in the VFL due to the black and white alignment with my WAFL Club Swan Districts.
Also trained one night with Collingwood in 1968 when stationed at Puckapunyal on National Service. when Bob Rose was the coach but it was impossible for me to have a real crack due to living in Seymour and probably a lack of ability.. Was playing Coach of Avenel in a major Victorian Country League instead.

There you are Detonator just giving you more Collingwood ammunition to dislike me even further

    Very good Chariots

But George G has got you trumped

You had a training run with the Magpies in 1968

But George - probably around the same era - he actually played ( heard him say it ) one reserves game for Fitzroy against Hawthorn at that mud heap Glenferrie Oval

And while im at it - how did a Swan Districts bloke like yourself end up barracking for that rabble called Fremantle

Disillusioned with the Eagles the way they treated their members with seating etc. (I was an Indian Pacific Noteholder).

When Fremantle came on board they were aligned to Swan Districts and 3 other clubs in the WAFL so I became a harbourmaster and jumped ship so to speak.

You are a masochist Chariots. (is that a person who loves inflicting pain on oneself ?)
To pull on a "Ross the Boss" coached Collingwood is about as horrific as it gets.
If RTB gets the gig, that would be as enjoyable for me as  West Coast winning another flag. I would be driving up and down the streets waving my Eagles flag in celebration.
I would put Oldhendo on suicide watch and I doubt we would ever hear from Skidmark again.
During the RTB era at Dockers I managed to send Dungy into oblivion and I would do the same to all you Pies supporters on here.
    Bring it on !!!! Hahaha.

The former Swan Districts great centreman Leon Baker was originally from Avenel wasnt he Chariots?
He wound up at South Bunbury (in SD country zone) during his many travels for a couple of Premierships and the rest is history as they say.
  • ChariotsonfireChariotsonfire    3,025 posts
If the ball had bounced to Stevie Milne instead of away from in the goal square Ross would be a premiership coach.

Coached Fremantle to their only Grand Final.

Coached Fremantle to a Minor Premiership.

154 wins and 106 losses from 260 games not to shabby.

When you decide to dislike someone Deto you will never be swayed.

Mick Malthouse coached teams to premierships on the back of defence.
"Ross the Boss" had the same ideology.
The defensive game well and truly passed both of them by.
In his last 4 years at Freo his ladder positions were 16th 14th 14th 13th.
And lets not forget he recruited Jesse Hogan and Lachie Neale had had enough of him and got out before RBT ruined his career.

But good luck to Collingwood if they grab him because they are going to need it.
Oh and for not liking people....dead heat between "Ross the Boss" and "Smirker McGoo".
    :D

That is Longmuir all the time. The lack of effort and general regard for what the result may be from some of the senior players (Wilson and Lobb to name a couple) is of massive concern for me. There were multiple times were Wilson just pulled up to a walk when the contest was within arms reach yet I would be happy to wager he has no need to be concerned about his place in the side.

Then to hear the coach in the press conference after the game say the club was in a “development phase” really got up my goat. Here you go lads here’s your cop out, no need to worry about a complete lack of effort/hunger for the contest because we are in a development phase. That is just a red flag to a bull for me, slack of boys because we aren’t gonna do anything anyhow.

Missed an opportunity to go 4 and 2 over an injury depleted team, set yourself up to make the season meaningful.

IMO the honey moon period is now over and Longmuir, he is being shown up for his inability to create connection between the forwards and the mids (sticks in my mind when asked over the preseason how the club was going to improve scoring this season he sighted natural improvement, a sure fire winning game plant for season 2021) and the inability to create that hunger and drive that creates a winning culture by constantly playing under performing/under commitment to the contest players like Wilson/Aish/Lobb in positions where they get shown up. They set the standard and it leaches through the group.

    Geelong dropped Jordan Clark again.
Eagles should snap him up as a replacement for Shannon Hurn.
Patrick Cripps yet to sign. He would look good in the Blue and Gold. JK retirement should free up a few bucks for him.

Gilgy, he still hasn't got the cattle to do the job yet, I'd be moving Fyfe on this year and allow themselves room in their salary cap to get at least 2 good midfielders who will be with them for 4-5 years.....That will give him the connectivity they need and allow a players like Mundy to stay on for 1 or 2 more seasons to help on field with the new and younger players.

If they dont get quality in their midfield it will be hard for the likes of Lobb and co to get too excited about delivery to them...Back line when fit is very good.

So IMO re-new the midfield and they will be a top 8 team for several seasons. Lettign Fyfe go  - if he is willing to move on - could be  bonus for the club..If he doesn't - put him up the forward line and teach him to kick...
  • GilgameshGilgamesh    5,009 posts
Agree he doesn’t have the cattle but every coach should be able to extract one basic thing out of his playing group and that is effort. Risk of repeating myself but Freo gave none last week in a game against their main rivals who were undermanned then gave out excuses for it.

He just does not inspire me.

    Game only worth 4pts.
Lynch dropped two sitters early on. Riewoldt not interested. Dusty still in holiday mode.
Geelong were $10.00 for the flag this week. If I hadn’t had such a s*** week on the punt I would have had some of that.....Not saying they would win it. To lay off on GF day against the Premiers Richmond.

Gee “brand Fyfe’s” Dusty impersonated hairdo looks sharp tonight.
Reckon he got that freshened up just before boarding the bus to look good on TV.
That is after he would have caught a few waves in the morning.

Everyone must be losing on the punt. Cause seems everyone has gone into “sulk mode” MIA.

I actually thought the Eagles were really average today Det. They’re a long way off the top teams and I hold no bias toward either WA team as I don’t barrack for either. If they were up against a half decent team they get rolled today at the MCG.

Fair point. We played without 10 of our best 22 today.
Don’t want to be peaking too early.
As I posted before. Win the winnable games until the cavalry arrive. Get high up as possible in the 8 in September. Then play your best football.
Reckon we have the weapons that will cause other teams to be concerned when we get them back.
We will have the hunger that has been well documented ie players missing out in 2018 and the likes of Willie getting back. Ryan gone to another level. Allen a real bonus in 2021 So after we beat Adelaide we will be 6 and 3.
    Glass half full.
    ;)
