With current stake and participation levels on a continual decline in two years time we won’t have any horses left to run around.
But we will still have GP to look at.

First million for safety ----reimburse all the drivers that invested in the yank carts, and return to the carts where the shaft runs over the wheels, which also minimises the number  of wheels that go under the shaft, which provides direct access to the legs, plus the flat bar that carrys  the axle ,see were they put rubber attached by razor sharp cable ties to remove the sharp edge of flat bar, have seen that on carts--- razor sharp cable ties looking for a leg.------Or employ a engineer to design  a more safer add-on.

Two horses from same stable freo cup. you could be excused for thinking you were at claremont speedway. First corner one driver had to be at fault, if with a tape measure you measure from the  marker line is 1.3m. to the outside of cart 1;------- then 2.6m. to outside cart 2. then 3.9m to outside 3. then interference in a straight line. With interference happens at 2.4m. nothing  blame wise can be attributed to horse &cart 1. Stevie wonder says always blame must be with cart 3. and driver.

. Don't know how many races a  month are destroyed by lock wheels in australia. What about when 6/11-- galatic star was going to go straight past vampiro after vampiro had moved up the track (soup).had to explain to a small disgruntled punter.that they locked wheels. just another way to do my money------- very concerning when people visual something that doesn't end up  being the result..

While we at it spent  some on roll rings used to be trainers lined up to give there horse's a roll. after a race. Has pinjarra new complex got one. stand corrected.-- All horse lovers----- Think g.p roll rings are ornaments in the wrong spot.

Fix the in house problems.first, and we might just. improve in the punters eyes. Remember G.Lang  in a talk for harness enthusiasts,  saying victoria drivers after there commitments, would sit back and watch demo derby racing from the west on a friday night.

i rarely watch those ad-riddled tv channels but had a geezer at some show and saw at least 3 ads for GP's italian night on dec 4th....the 3 ads in less than an hour.

have not been to GP for decades..remember the late 60's/early 70's 44 gal drums of fire against the chill. barmen in white shirts and black bow ties..rinsing glasses in a trough and then fill 'em up again with those hand held squirters. doing that today and the joint would be shut down and probably demolished..

A cunning plan for December 4th??.....Pacing Cup, Italian Night, Fireworks and .......the Parliamentarians Cup....get all the pollies down there, throw ads on tellie, bound to draw at least a reasonable crowd having fired all your shots in the locker....and the impression for any honorable members present will be that all is fine and dandy in the world of harness and that GP is functioning all tickety boo.

Hey Rocket if you don’t understand what I mean by “not a level playing field” suggest you read this mornings West at the height of WA pacing season.
Think in my day we called it advertising/promo.
Has been going on for years, now it is at its worst ever.

Agree that trots get nothing in the newspaper but to be fair can’t remember the last time I read a newspaper, although I think more can be done the social media side of things is far from terrible in regards to advertising. Probably just reaches out to more of a younger generation

As previously posted Harness needs to have a second revenue stream.
G.P needs to be better utilised why can’t a new Building or Buildings be constructed at G.P
with a long term lease agreement with various Government Agencies or Private Companies.
Considering Land Value vs Asset Income it would definitely be a underperforming investment.
I admit to being naive & possibly ignorant in regards to the above but I think there definitely is
    a positive outcome .

The West coverage of harness racing is worse than it has ever been and is inexcusable.

However putting this in perspective in 2020 I recently moved from a house in a cul de sac with 10 houses and I was the only one that had the paper delivered. I am now in a 24 unit complex and there are three papers delivered.

Go to a coffee shop, there are newspapers everywhere.
Not about who reads newspapers, it’s about giving ALL three codes an equal opportunity to get there advertising/promo out there.
If it’s good enough for the races to be in there everyday then it’s good enough for the trots and dogs.

I dont think anywhere near the numbers of the past read the hard copy newspaper as they did before but maybe a lot of those now view it online?
Currently in WA we have arguably the best pacer in the country (Chicago Bull) and one of the best dogs in the country (Tommy Shelby) and yet both outside of the respective fraternities would be unknown in WA.
And yet with the thoroughbreds we hear about anything that wins a trial at Lark Hill in The West & radio for goodness sake.
Yes we know the turnover is 9 or 10 times more but how are the other 2 ever expected to pick up that slack without one iota of exposure in the local media in comparison?
And I would hazard a guess that the promotional and marketing spend spent on the races would be easily 9 or 10 times more than the other 2 codes!

Tommy Shelby is everywhere over social media, what we’re lacking in the newspaper we’re making up for on social media, but like I said I still think more can be done

If the exposure/promotion was the same for all three codes for the past 10 years would the difference in turnover be as dramatic as it is today.
Would the crowds at GP be so poor.
This is the bit I really don’t get with RWWA.
Surely they recognise or understand that 3 solid codes/contributors is better than 1.
Or just maybe the powers to be prefer just 1.

Checked out the podcast of Radley and Mortimer on SEN this morning....half the show spent talking to John Caldow and Ben Krahe about Eastern States harness racing when it is promoted as talking about Harness Racing in WA.????

Just a suggestion - and maybe give  it a 3 month trial - maybe each Thursday edition

But when i was in Sydney years ago - The Sydney Swans when starting off - or maybe Eddeltson thing collapsed - and they were left hopeless - and the general sporting public had no interest in them whatsover

Thus the Swans paid the Sydney Telegraph newspaper - to have 1 full page  in each Thursday edition totally on the Swans

Now with the WA Trots they could do the same thing - pay the West Austn to have one full page each Thursday - and have pictures and stories - with their horses etc - of young people who have come  across from pony clubs - or pony trots etc - people who read that could get interested in trotting - plus you could cram in plenty of information

And if you had a smart marketing type - you could hook up a few advertisers - to have their brand on the page - to cover some of the cost

But they have to try a few things - their marketing efforts are pretty poor - and you never hear from the hierarchy- talk about invisible and silent

It’s a very simple, basic solution Marko.
I’ve thought the same for years.
Question is why hasn’t it been done.
    It’s not exactly rocket science.
The lack of action to address such an obvious issue can only leave you with one conclusion.
