ditto diva, I've watched the replay about 5-6 times and am convinced prize catch ran 3rd.
the only explanation I can find is that it was finishing so strongly its an optical allusion seeing there was no query from the connections.

Absolutely would have said Prize Catch ran 3rd watching the race.
The only thing that got him 3rd was the sheer size of Missile Launch's head, seriously he's a beast that bloke

Missile Launch has white on his nose which strangely doesn't show up very well on Diva's photo. It gives the illusion that Prize Catch may have beaten him.

The stewards report that.."Spiritual Warrior got further back than expected due to the moderate pace" is pretty funny!

Sort of understand what their saying - about 2% but the other 98%, I mean seriously.

So if the speed was right on and Missile Launch went 20 lengths clear, then the question asked... ok Lucy why did you get so far back behind Missile Launch - answer - because the speed was right on, explanation accepted.

Can have an answer for everything!

The fellow on Sky - Jason Lincoln who use to be a trot steward - that's the type of bloke you need - speaks sense and understands the game.

Where are you getting that from @savethegame ?

Stewards on the ball--------just  the format for next time,  with  what happened yesterday----just to give the punters a chance plus those, who would want to lay  those seven horses on betfair that had a nine hour float trip; approx five hours of the trip was on a dirt road.

Only helping out.----- probably would have altered your train of thought.?

parts 1&2 to be put on cris; or  similar would have thought-  you will have to look at those runners performances yesterday going forward. with caution.

on a different note, seems to be a number of races that have been deleted the last 2 weeks. Ive had nominations in a few of them and then the race is deleted. Id be interested to see who accepted for these races before the race was deleted?

Just on the perth cup, with winner to receive  only 236k. are raceday guards  put in place on the horses and have to be there two hours prior.

Boxing Day--------- for battling jockeys and 4kgs appies is like Christmas day for them, think if the three venues have 12 runners or more  in one field,we might struggle  for jockeys as a few jockeys have weight restrictions  as well.
  • savethegamesavethegame    3,215 posts
Boxing Day it will be listed on cris wether the horses had direct access to Esperance from Kalgoorlie.--  no nine hour float trip ubeknown to the punters.

Tumbled into spiritual warrior purely his kalg.cup win,was something else plus his 2200 card 3/3.
Wasn't aware of tactic changes, now post race it becomes a little bit more clearer

,Warwick must be concerned  with his fitness levels, and didn't won't him to have a gut buster,so more then likely go around sat. screw him down a bit more for the cup, His the one trainer that is capable of,finding the rabbitt & pulling it from the hat.
Now screwed him done a bit more- think he can see the rabbits ears  couldn't believe the price, can have a bet to nothing in the cup. now

Good work stg, it was all about fitness for Spiritual Warrior, Towton Cup the Warrior was very interested in that ( not! ) backs up a few days later in the CB Cox Stakes...um where is it..oh there he is getting fitter...then onto the ATA and the trainer has it spot on, and now a live chance in the Cup.

Was ridden as quiet as a church mouse in Towton and CB Cox, today was its day and the Cup now a bonus, and it's a fighter, wouldn't write it off with the Justin Warwick polish.

Riders--- one tough horse three 2100m and further in ten days, probably hasn't got the  same class factor as  few of the others in the cup,but he doesn't train him for a bit of this and bit of that on the swim through like others by having to peak on railway& k.t. day-------- and then try hold him at peak fitness for a month till the cup. ----
That's what allows him to be a realistic chance, wouldn't be surprised if trys to lead in cup and his fitness level hopeful comes to the fore. because no-one would take him on,

Can hear the frustration Roo, to be honest when he went to 8/1 in the Towton was astounded then he darn well blew to nearly 20/1, and in the Cox Stakes even less interest, then thought today though he'll be a lot shorter - nope not a cracker again.

Ombudsman made the race for him today too. That Towton Cup was run at a farcical slow speed and that's of course ( according to stewards report ) why Spiritual Warrior got so far back 8-| fascinating stuff.

He's been a good horse though and overall quite consistent. Also as said a few times rate that trainer big time, he gets them right.

Thought Arctic Stream was the one to beat today, but how short was it?!! Prince Turbo the same - if had my time over again - I'd be avoiding some of these fave's like the plague.

As falc said heap of chances in the race and the market was $2.40 and $2.65 Arctic Stream and Prince Turbo...should've been 4/1 the field!

Spiritual Warrior top weight too, keep telling bomber their absolutely thrown in these days!

Even that fave Pikey unplaced on, outside barrier - yes deserved to be a warm to hot fave - but that short ? Their starting shorter than ever - keep away!

There is still no stewards report from Bunbury 29th December. Usually its there the day after

Whilst Kyra Yuill had been in good winning form for a while now, I've also been noticing that she "has form". What i mean is that she consistently allows her horse to shift in in the straight under the whip without stopping riding and had been causing interference as a result. She was reprimanded yesterday at Bunbury 8.1.20 for this, which caused Shaun mcgruddy to have to check and had to clean out his undies. There were also 2x today at Gero (race 4 and 5) and I've seen some others lately (Sunday at Bunb from memory).
I wonder if the stewards will be on the ball with today's efforts.
