The Other Ascot Preview for 7/12/19 by TMP (still)

West Australian Racing
I'm in early fellers.
It does not matter what we think or what we guess, the winners will still run first on Saturday!

R/1 I looked at 2 horses here; the topwight fave is 1.6 over here; but I cannot remember M. Santich winning with a fave before.
The astonishing run of D. Luciano with 2yo's might continue with Winsalot.

R/2  This will test'ya. Horse 12 with A. Durrant as trainer and W Pike as jockey s vv interesting; especially when I heard a statement on the replay that the trainer says this might be his best sprinter yet! This is v v short 1.38.with WA and the chicken NSW tab 1.33.\You can have some fun and back 2 here; include my winner last week Zenaze (what a cool and brilliant ride by T Turner.

R/3 This is v even but I would love to see P Harvey win 2 in a row on Nelsons Flight; up front runner at least.

R/4 I'm still kicking myself on missing out on Carocarpo last time.
I well might be doing it again after Saturday.
I thought Rebel Knight was a real certainty beaten last week; so I am on him already at 3.3.

R/5 I'm hoping here that the maiden Laverodd was one run short last time.
Mind you Massimo is such a fighter that nothing would surprise with him.

R/6/ Beautiful Mind looked a cert on the bend but....Electric Light ran her down.
I am hoping for upside with Beautiful mind (like Massimo betting against a proven winner in Electric Light!).

R/7 Baraki Beats with great speed would make it hard for one of my favourites Wrinkly.
Naturally I have to be on Flirtini. I had her going for a Motza in the Winterbottom, even a place!
I will not moan about Ascot and push for Belmont as the premier track!

R/8 Here is the big one but over 1800m. In the past , the speed has been ve good and the good horse up front keep going . From memory horses in the first hal of the field win.
This puts Best of Days right up there.
You could argue that Regal Power could beat them again; except there are the 3yo's and ....Missisipi Delta.
Like Falc I was v v impressed with that first up win. If she can settle close she can beat this lot. I'm on her already.
With the 3yo's I still cannot understand how Superstorm has not won all his races; so he will go in.
The 2 females are top class with the fave out to 3.2 here and Kay Cee in from 13 to 10.

R/9 The last is one of those difficult distance races.
I am looking at 2,8,10 and 11.
The 2 faves stand out in British Bessy and Sentimental Gift.
But you know that luck plays a great part in these races, so I also looked at High Energy from Barrier 1 and Here''s Lenny from b 15!
Just had another look and Stafford's Lad was a real good run last time; thought he would be 40''s here but is 18!
Of course I am hoping that she devil Winifer does not have a run tomorrow!

I have gone for Rebel Knight into Flirtini; any thoghts on the above are appreciated.

Did I tell ya about the guy late for an appointment and couldnt find a park. He was deperate and said Oh Please find me a spot. I will go to church every Sunday. I will stop swearing. I won't tell lies any more.
Then suddenly he saw a spot and looked up and said'It's OK; I've found one; it''s all right.'

All the Best and Good Luck. May the right shirt tugger meet you on Saturday.

I will be astonished of Dion Luciani wins the 2yo race with Winsalot. Considering its trained by Lou Luciani

    Race 7: Scahill Stakes.
Not much value here, but their are two for a place in the race at $2.62 and $2.88 with one Corp, treading a very fine line and backing both for the place.

Very good runs last start: Flow - place. Arcadia Prince - place.

Also taking both in quinellas with Flirtini and Stageman, think one of them might split or upset the fave's.

I'll be betting into 4 races tomorrow:

    R4 - The Nicconian (Win)
He looks to lead easily and get it all his own way tomorrow. Carocapo won't get the same run as last start, I've got him sitting 3 wide or using up some fuel to beat Why Choose Her and Star Glitter across. That's only if he jumps clean, which he sometimes does not.

    R6 - Forgotten Star (Win)
No surprise the first two across the line in the Jungle Mist are the top two in betting here. Forgotten Star's has been held up in the last two starts but once clear has hit the line strong, she always puts in. A month freshen up between runs and Patty goes on for the first time ever, Emma Stent has ridden her in all 11 starts. Snowchino could run them along at a good tempo here to see her run over the top late.

R8 - Jericho Missle and Dip Deep (Each Way)
Jericho Missle for the reasons I put in the Kingston Town thread and Dig Deep got going late in the Guineas. Should get a nice run from barrier 5 and relish the 1800m carrying only 52kg.

R9 - Push To Pass (Each Way)
It wouldn't be an Ascot race day without another mediocre bunch going around in a staying race. The grey does like to mix his form, he ran average last start but his run in the York Cup suggested he might be ready to win another one soon. On the 7 day back up with only 53kg, I'm willing to back him at these odds.

ran second is what could have been the slowest 400m trial of all time... 26.63
all four runners went to the line under a hold... and all trained by Lou.
Not sure you could take anything out of that trial?

Brave man taking $1.85 about Massimo tomorrow. Never been past 1200m. Lavverod, might be anything, but loomed as the winner last start and got out muscled. Still does a lot wrong.

I think there will be decent speed by War Saint and Widespread. This could set up for a something to run over the top late. Personally I might be way off, but $31+ about Annihilator seems very juicy. Also, Seanabreanna was massive last two starts at $4.

you are doing too much looking for upsets, bomber....
here's a few..i'm in our punters club chair for the final annual roll of the dice....remember I hold the record of 8 consecutive winning weeks...
<:-P  I have 50 bucks to spend and am having 5x5 on the following:
choice bid r1, settlers creek r4, bel my page r6, abdicator r7*, Mississippi Delta r8.
    * this is a VERY weak WFA race, more like a moderate 78+...
either go out with a bang or a whimper....

I think the DM stable must have read my post; Rebel Knight scratched (I still have delusions of gradeur sometimes).
The Nicconion is one of my tips from last time Jell but being TMP I will switch to the fave Carocarpo that I missed last time (his times are v v good and amazed how he is ?better ridden off speed; do they miss the start on purpose?).
I now have a lot going in to Flirtini!

Been interesting to look at the rank outsider for the Kingston Town - it's fluctuated seven or eight times throughout the week, first one horse then another, at the moment a three way tie, all at 33/1 - Gallo Chop, The Velvet King and Jerricho Missile.

Those three plus plus a few more like Platoon etc have all had their turn as being the rank outsider, it's that type of race!

Brilliant ride Steve Parnham, that makes all the outright fave's in the Railway - Guineas - Winterbottom - Kingston Town, all unplaced!

Railway - The Velvet King and Tellem We're Comin
Guineas - Jericho Missile, Dig Deep, Superstorm
    Winterbottom - Trekking
    Kingston Town - Tuscan Queen

British  Bessy  gee talk about average. and the celt never ever looked like winning at 1400m and wins a big race enough.

Not wrong Spink, how easy was that. Looks a ripper. Good to see that grey run a place in the last Push To Pass.

It's been a carnival for cerise and white, Pikey and Parnham inc. Realise there's three of them ( Parnham hoops ) but when going through the results at the end of the day city/midweek/country they arn't far off being in the money every single race.
  • thefalconthefalcon    20,484 posts
a lot of potential cup runners performed dismally in the last....looks like cerise and white might nab it..again...

Was just going to say that falcon, terrible terrible runs of Perth Cup "prospects" in the last race. Calling it early I'll be surprised if they get 12 - 14 runners max. It could fall apart.

Several that ran in the last, well good luck.

How many will go around in the Cox Stakes ? Am thinking 5 - 7 maximum. The cerise and white v Dark Musket.
