A lot of shorties around today but the one I'm really keen on is in the first race. 

Just Too Hot probably the most effortless trial you will see. Can it bring it to the races, a 10 start maiden who really hasn't shown a thing in its previous outings. Always a danger but something seems to have dropped in its time away over the past 4 months.....Currently $3.10.

    Going to have a small EW speculator on Larking in R5. She is out of Starcraft and never been tried over a trip it could show some improvement.

    Great trial indeed. Didn't see the race but it must have been pretty disappointing.

    Just too Hot absolutely friendless in the betting out to 4.60 on Tabtouch

    Pike touched 3.60 then smacked into 2.60, gets the money.

     So they decide to go forward from barrier 13 and lead. Talk about shafting the punters. What a joke!

    surely questions need to be asked by stewards on that. wasn't like it was pulling hard they just rolled it forward.

    Yes, there was a gap midfield to slot into but had no hesitation in going forward. An absolute joke. It's not like it catapulted from the gates and jumped 2L in front.

    Rodent have you ever rode in a race?
    If you have a look at the replay Chris Parnham elected to go forward because this mount jumped so great, why would you choke the horse after it jumped so good, have a look at the stewards report.

    Staples and O' Donnell had little trouble finding a rearward position from the get go. All about intent I suppose. To me there didn't seem to be a lot of straight to work with if you were thinking of slotting in midfield and the trainer was quite specific.

    As if not riding in a race devalues my opinion. I reckon I can read a race better than most jockeys. I'm certainly a better judge than most jockeys.
     What % of punters would you say can win every year for decades? I'll tip that the % is very small. Out of that group, if you remove the punters who use a high tech approach or are part of a punting team, you are left with a minute group. People in this group need to be able to read a race very well.
     NOTHING prevented Chris Parnham from riding to publicised instructions. It may have been to the detriment of the horse's chances but so what. We see horses unnecessarily restrained from wide gates in every single race. It's quite pathetic.
     My main gripe is not with C.Parnham as I believe jockeys shouldn't be tied to instructions but rather just ride the race. My gripe is with the stupid rule of divulging your tactics to everyone before the race. To then do the opposite of what you say you're going to do is a joke.

     His mount jumped so great? That's just making things up as the picture shows.
     At no point in time did he restrain his mount, he just let it slide. Here's a tip from someone who's never ridden in a race. If you're on a leader and you've drawn the outside gate going up 300m in trip, you had better grab hold of it at the start if you intend to ride it in a rearward position (as instructed).

      Was interested to see the report from the stewards in regard to the 'change of tactics' not being followed.  BUT while there, noticed that there is an update in the summary for the first race that the third placed horse Return a Smile was now a gelding.......  What, during the race???  

      Nope, your right H there's no way you'd touch a maiden race in WA when the best time to inform you of BIG gear changes in a race, is after the race..... (racebook says colt, and nothing in the gear changes)

    Why do trainers divulge their tactics anyway ?
    Is that so they don't get a please explain from the stewards when their horses are ridden upside down ?
    You can use the same philosophy if they declare their hand as in this case and then do the opposite ?
    Did the trainer or jockey get a please explain ?
    No consequences just like the "whip rule"
    May as well have cardboard cut outs in those stewards towers. :D

    Does anyone keep stats on "stewards accepted his or her explanation" vs "stewards did not accept his or her explanation"
    I reckon it would be 98% accept.
