West Australian Racing

Fields are out this arvo for the Hannans but with no Keyton Grace, Classy Nugget stated as not going, who are the main chances?
Would FRK go first up with Marasco? Been scratched from Saturday.

FRK already stated he is going to Melbourne next Sat with Marasco.

I think Saffron Fire could be a good chance the way its been racing - not sure how the weights will pan out but hopefully a bigger spread than last year.

Escadaire very hard to beat. Saffron Fire has been beating inferior opposition narrowly ie Red Fish Blue Fish & Landscapes, going to find it much harder. Harvard, not sure what happening with him.
  • Whats the eastern stater Larson got going for him? Brought here to be aimed at the Hannans i'm told.

Dolphin Jo was a Vic country horse from Stawell and got into the Melbourne Cup. This one could be another bolter. ?????????

Dont let that form fool you about Larson. He is a very accomplished front running 1400m horse, and I believe that style suits the Kal track from what Ive heard?. He was narrowly beaten by Cargo Cult in a listed race at Caulfield earlier this year(off the top of my head--im at work)
He raced with success in Darwin over the carnival there as well.

    Pacemaker.

Jockey of LARSON and jockey of another horse got into FISTICUFFS and WHIP SLASHING during the running of a BAIRNSDALE CUP in Victoria.

Alcohol has eroded my brain as much as I thought.

I remember the race pretty clearly-Larson looked home and Cargo Cult just grabbed him. If he ran up to that form, he'd win the Hannans. He is very good fresh, and if he hasnt started since Darwin, which Id suggest he hasnt, he will be pretty hard to beat at Kal.

You'r memory is in great condition LINC maybe the drink has tired you'r body a bit though. Ex five DARWIN STUBBIE (big one's ) here. Now a two SMALL CAN screamer.

gee Saffron and Escadaire drew badly - looks like some speed coming from outside gates. Interesting to see Amianan in there - been pretty handy that horse loves to take up a forward position too.

They should call it a Sprint there will be speed in this one. Don't stand too close to the fence at the finish. WHOOSH will be heard I think as four come in a bunch lengths in front of others. Can imagine about seven dropping off one by one. TOP RACE this one. 8)

Backed Larson that day, thought it couldnt possibly lose to Cargo Cult and still cant belive it did.

Is much better than Escadiare imo

I think LARSON and Local Legend will really have to work to get the LEAD this time. Hope it does not turn into Dodge em Cars.

I will have to take ur word on that one.

Escadaire 2yo younger and had half the starts and still nearly won the same stake money.

Both have the same handicap rating so it should be a good contest. They actually raced against each other once and Escadaire won that race but with a 4kg pull - interestingly Anna's Choice who runs at Belmont tomorrow was only a neck back from Larson in 5th.
  • lordwaterlordwater    1,127 posts
Don't know a thing about ratings just think it will be a fast race with possible four (leaders) trying to get in front early. As I posted I think odds on that are against Larson and Local Legend getting out nice and clean from their Draws. Lot will depend on what riders are in race. Of Top interest I think race will be. 8)

I assume Anna's Choice is here to go to stud, and they are hoping to pick up a race or 2 along the way.
Would probably want to pick up some blacktype if it was to go to stud - has looked a bit ordinary at the Larkhill trials. Already got 2 sons of Redoute's Choice here anyway.

anna's choice a better horse than passenger for mine. in regards to the hannan's, Escadaire moral. Surprised no elliotto, thought he may have gone there if he'd have got in down in the weights thought he wouldve been a good chance. I'd be surprised if Larson got close to Escadaire no way is it a better horse than him for mine. Amianan is a go forward horse but had the guts raced out of it. Lieserl did win at warwick farm coupla weeks ago and it was a former gai so some go either way.
  • Will the weights be raised if IP comes out ?

I would say YES - last year they were raised 3kg when Marasco came out.
