Coach of GWS does he ever cop any criticism ? Must be the best protected coach in the history of the game. Talk about an under performing team. The injury excuse - all clubs have injuries, depth was one of their strongpoints.

Shouldn't have been brought into the comp in the first place and same goes for the Suns. All both have done is dilute the talent in a bloody good competition. Imagine those talented young GWS and Suns players spread throughout Carlton, Brisbane, St. Kilda all of a sudden those three teams look good and we have eveness.

Now what we have is too many dud games - proved by Friday night TV ratings on games - well down.

Ess v Rich only viable alternative, but they want that Saturday night (Dreamtime - bigger than ANZAC Game).

Dorkers leaving out Ballantyne, Johnson and Matera.

Bit like the Weagles leaving out Lickass, Schofield and Masten

At least the Dorkers dropped all of them. Schofield been out for ages, Masten with injury and Lickass just holding on

Apart from Matera who is a young guy not going too well, (like #4) all the rest have been good servants for their clubs over many years...But their time has come. Hope all the Dorkers young fellows have great games.

If watching Carlton on Friday night is bad enough, the lack of a decent crowd doesn't help.
But worse is a pet hate of mine is the low positioned camera angle at the SCG makes the viewing ordinary. Surely they can build some sort of structure to elevate the camera angle. You can't get any perspective on distance from each other and or the boundary.

Noticed just 28,000 at the Hawks v Eagles game. Was the only game on in Melbourne on the Sunday - a crucial game for the Hawks - 80,000 members.
One guy reckons at least 30% of the crowd were barracking for the Eagles. Where were you Hawks supporters ? GWS average crowd at home is poor. Some games only managing around 6000 that's just a fair WAFL crowd 30 odd years ago.

Yes footy has come along way. Hurry up get the zones in...have as many umpires as players...have reviews on everything...Americanise it as much as possible. Get the commentators on the field ( that happened in an international cricket game the other day ). It's a sad state of affairs in some ways.

Essendon V Richmond - a beauty. Um ar that's it. One good game out of nine.
The next best game an out of form Adelaide versus a bigger out of form GWS.
Hawks v Port in Tassie not a bad one too - but the last game in Tassie to see North Melbourne play was diabolically small.

Fair weather Hawks supporters only come out when they believe they have a chance of winning.
Last Sunday was proof of that.
Same same with Dockers supporters. Where's Dungy ???

Membership may only be for 2 to 5 games, the club counts this as full memberships.

Said before the game Essendon v Richmond 'a beauty' ...i take that back!

A crackerjack finish between Hawks and Port.
    The five other games I-)

Never known the competition to be so lopsided. Have 18 teams - have mediocrity. Have 16 teams have a brilliant even competition.

Top 8 is (nearly) set, 6 weeks in to the season.

Geelong to come in, for North.

    Collingwood the only ?
Could come in, but for whom ?

Have a look at our draw. To be 3 & 3 after 6 has as set up nicely to win at least 8 of our next 10... at least!

Ok, so we've gone 1 -1 since then, need to win 7 of our next 8. I still think this is possible (although, more injuries could kill us). The Pies next 8...

St Kilda - ES = Win
    Dogs - ES = Win
    Freo - MCG = Win
    Melb - MCG = Win

    BYE

    Carl - MCG = Win
    Suns - MS = Win
    Ess - MCG = Win
    WCE - MCG = Win

The obvious danger games are Demons on the Queens birthday and, as much as it pains me to say... WCE. Having said that, we'll know a lot more about WC by the 15th of July!

They have a bit more of a rocky (AND LENGHTY) road to the G with games against; Richmond (H), Hawks (A), Swans (A), Crows (A) & Giants (H).

Their only trip to the G was a scrappy 10 point victory over Carlton in round 5.

So my friends, in a few months, the PIES will be nudging the top 4 with an 11-5 record, or thereabouts. While the WCE could be back with the pack.

     B-)

    :-bd

Old Skidstronamus is all over it!

A salivating game at the G next Monday.

    GO PIES!

Flew to Melbs for the long weekend. Went to the Dreamtime match (71pt margin), the Dockers game (61 pts) and even managed to catch the Carlton v Geelong ressies in the VFL on Saturday arvo (70pt margin). Yawn.

Many hawks supporters, including myself, would have given themselves a decent chance of winning against the eagles. Unfortunately eagles are irrelevant on the East coast, hence why they often get small crowds over there and they played at Etihad rather than the G
