Race 1 – Magic Millions Plate over 1200m

This looks like a bit of an open two year old race.  Race experience usually goes a long way. I’m going for Mouth Karate each way from barrier 5. He gets the blinkers added and off a slight freshen up this is his chance to earn the prize money he needs to get a start in the Karrakatta Plate. Lordhelpmerun was impressive on debut and the extra 100m here will help. Look for it to be to closer late. Shooter McGruddy is riding in really good form at the moment as well. Rebel Knight gets blinkers added as well and is out of the top producing mare Rebel Sister making this gelding a full brother to Rebel King. His most recent trial with the shades on was very impressive. I’m going to leave the favourite out and throw in Foxy Dreamer. Simon Miller and Chris Parnham team up here and is a smokey.

Race 2 – TABTouch Handicap over 1200m

This is a really competitive three year old race where a number of different form lines clash. The up and coming Three Secrets is the on top selection. Had to get further out of his ground than it would have liked last start over 1100m. Up to the 1200m suits and he was scratched from the Listed race at Bunbury on Wednesday in preference for this. Drawn well in gate 3 he should be handy and in a position to strike at the top of the straight. How To Fly has hardly put a foot wrong all campaign with all six career starts he has run in the first three. At his only start over 1200m he ran a great race behind Epic Grey in the 3yo Magic Millions race. Danny George looks very promising for Brett Pope. He was simply to fast up the straight in his debut and then last start was off the track the whole way and win nicely. This is a step up in grade and he will run a great race. Get The Vibe goes in for fourth. She has been super consistent and going forward with the services of Tayla Stone is an advantage, she may just have to do a bit of work to cross from her wide gate.

Race 3 – Richard Lee 70th Birthday Handicap over 1400m

Jump straight into it here and I’m going to go with Valderi Valdera. Was steaming home last start on the day that favoured on pace runners. Its her first try past 1200m and I think the form around her has been solid after finishing behind Royal Missile, Dynamite Dream and Cuanzo her last three. They all have lengths on this field. Kimbo’s Girl has been also very consistent and drawn well in barrier 3 will lead here she is the real danger. Very keen on that quinella. For third we will go with In This Life, she is drawn well and will get a nice trail behind Kimbo’s Girl. Next best is Wanted Desire who never really had a chance against Nelsons Flight the way the race was run after having two really nice wins. Valderi Valdera

Race 4 – Irene Lugg Memorial over 1400m

One Shortfor Shaun McGruddy who looks to have a great book of rides. This race lacks a bit of depth and One Short was in front everywhere but the line two weeks ago. He’s down in grade here and this looks suitable. Warrior Of Justice looks to have a stack of ability when he is right but has clearly been a challenge for Team Williams to keep him up. His first run is usually the best run of his prep so this is a question mark second up. Pike jumps back on board and he has the blinkers added here. Big Watch. Grey Enigma is one of those horses that is very consistent in this grade. I quite liked his last run and think he can be in the finish with Chris Parnham taking over from J Brown. For fourth Sixpence Spent has been in handy form and his last run was good.

Race 5 – Canteen – John Lugg Handicap over 1000m

The market has this race pretty spot on. Floyd on top for me. He’s got enough speed to rail through here to lead and wont have to do nearly as much work to get there as he did last start. He clearly improves between and first and second up runs and if he produces the same performance as his second up run last preparation he will be winning. Jingtang is racing in sensational form. He is the only horse to push Gee Boss since Chris Parnham jumped aboard and we know he toweled them last week in slick time. Jingtang will get a great sit on Floyd and he is always strong at the end of the 1000m. Speeding Comet was a nice run from back in the field last start and will be closing late. Dynamite Dream is up in grade here but wont be too far away from the good barrier.

Race 6 – Iron Jack Handicap over 1800m

Clearly on top and clearly the best horse in the race is Western Temple. He is the only horse in my opinion that can get to stakes grade. Keepers Son was great last week with Lucy Warwick in the saddle for the first time, however this is tougher. Stoicism has gone to a new level this preparation, however is a month between runs. For fourth ill go with Ragazzo D’Oro. I think with the way the race will be run will suit this horse.  For your first fours be sure to put Discoville in at the tail end. Its just that type of race.

Race 7 – Schweppes J C Roberts Stakes over 1800m

I’ve been really keen on Action heading towards the WATC Derby for months now and with the blinkers added for this race I have to stick with him. He was being pushed along at the tail of the field on a day that was clearly favouring on pace runners. The blinkers should help sharpen him up and the 1800m looks perfect. Money Maher also has the blinkers added and is drawn the best of the fancied runners in barrier 5. Miracle Man was terrific last start and does look like a horse on the way up. Sentimental Friend was held up and had to angle for a run in the straight. I think the market has it pretty spot on here. Crown Prosecutor could step up here and might be one to throw into the exotics.

Race 8 – Good Friday Raceday - 30th March Handicap over 1200m

Snow Lordcould be ready to turn into the horse he has promised to be. He took advantage of a soft run and will need to do the same again here from barrier 2. If he reproduces the same run he will be hard to beat. Run Liam Run should be ready to peak third up. His two runs back have been better than they looked and I expect him to improve. For third I’ll put in Ragnar’s Saga. His best has been over further than this but with the blinkers on today look for him late in the race. Blackline goes in for fourth. I think she is big unders at her current price. She will get a good run in the race but this is a big step up in grade from the race she won last time out.

I Posted in other thread, so therefore I will look like a goose twice.

Have to attend a wedding this arvo, so need something to do to pass the time.

R2: In Love with Paris. $6 fixed Seems generous

    R4; Warrior Of Justice

R5 Atacama Sky looks due to me.

R7: Sticking with Big Shot Paddy for a nice result. Looked a bit flat last run, still was good at long odds to run 2nd. Don't think the 4 week break helped.

R8: Candlelight Star. Bit unlucky last run also don't mind Diablerie  might play both.

    Quaddie Donation:   1,5 / 2 / 1,3,7,12 / 1,3,7,8,10  .

A good line Coldy. Alternatively you could be twice as clever.

    1) pretty keen lordhelpmerun - was a better run than the toppy last start. Should be priced closer together. Also like Ionyx at the price. Willing to risk both favs
    2) pretty keen danny george. Took 3.3 boosted the other day. Family discussion is at huge odds - good eway bet. Trainer in form with big priced winners too!
    5) super keen floyd. Should jump to the front and gas them. Boosted to 3.96 earlier in the week. Very short now but liking the support!
    7) startthefriar worth a cheeky bet. Think it has some sort of ability. Sentimental friend also worth a punt - as a good run last start! Money maher huge risk. Cannot believe its priced that short!

Impressive win by the Playing God gelding, Lordhelpmerun

Danny George in the second is of course the full brother to Lorentinio (resumes in coming weeks) and I think he could be a bit better.

Yep. Followed up his good 1st up effort. A tad surprised they never went forward with Mouth Karate. I need to start listening to myself - don't back anything A Mitchell is riding.

Don't mind Grey Enigma E/W for a bit of a roughie in the next.

A more experienced jock may have forced the passage that half presented itself at the top of the straight on Kimbo's Girl. May not have won but since I went hard the place ...hmmm. :((

Wouldn’t have made much difference I reckon det, didn’t let down once the run finally appeared..
You think D Macaulay had something on the winner? He was in love with the ride on bushfire blonde

    Keepers Son a late scr!
That changes the complexion of the race big time now

For those of us who put stock into how a horse looks in the yard, it's infuriating when five horses in a 12 horse field either don't parade at all, or leave the yard very early.

As long as the top weight was out in the parade ring that’s all that would have mattered to me

After a second look Hash, you are right. Would have thought, given the run, she would have ran home better.

they are supposed to be in the ring at a certain amount of minutes prior to the race.
could never do it myself, but how they present is very very important to some.
if they were not there in time, and they did not have reasonable excuse then they would be fined(or should be)

i went to the races for a period just to test how i would go, after reading stuff from geoffrey hutson and trying it in pratice.
i was not bad at the bottom level(maidens)but any thing above that, i was pretty much useless at it.
maybe nosey can do what i couldn't.

he was a mate of mine as a kid in cheltenham, before he went to tasmania and became a trainer.
just about biggest one ever seen!

    No relation, carey.

I grew up next to Caulfield racecourse, and having been hanging over mounting yard rails since Jesus played full-back for Jerusalem.
