We were on our 3rd attempt to get a BF foal, and finally the mare held this year. So we will have one of the last BF foals to go with our last Flying Peg foal - which has turned out to be a winner in Danes Maree.

Jeremy Smith will be hit really hard by this I reckon - in fact he has said so on FBook. As he always talked about him in such a relaxed manner. He also said several times how fortunate they were to have had a champion stallion like him. Not Champion necessarily in his results, but a genuine performing stallion that regularly added to mares. The better the mares he served the better results were gained.

When we were umming and arghing about whether to send our mare to him he told us that if she is producing good type horses, that are performing (from lesser stallions) then BF will only improve them again...So glad that we went...And I can only assume that Jeremy's attitude has been helped by seeing BF produces great winners...and every day winners over may years.

BF will be remembered for along time in WA and potentially Australia . Now to hope we have a good one

    ;) :D

Rising 17yo but you would think still with several good seasons left in him. His loss towards the top of producing Stallions standing in this State, will have some long term effect on those older stronger types we are used to seeing from Trade Fair stock. Looking towards the next breeding season, local Breeders will have to consider developing sires as the established names are getting a bit lean. It really does leave Oratorio, War Chant and Snippetson as the last remaining proven stallions in this State of a stakes class runner.

Snippetson is running at about 2% SW/R and he’s had plenty of time at stud. Wouldn’t expect to see him in a category of proven sires of stakes class runners Damien.

Looks like City Place, Universal Ruler and Trade Fair are outperforming him by that criteria, and Patronize is level off a smaller sample size.

Yes but Snippetson stock has been tested on the East Coast where winning black type is not easy. I think his numbers will improve over the next ten years here to a very acceptable level.

    Fair assessment.
Although to be fair he’s also covered a higher quality of mare to compensate...

I do agree though - his numbers will rise over here.
He should now get many of our best mares over here, which to be fair aren’t half bad.
(Depth being the issue, not top end).

thought unencumbered would do ok as a sire.

Surely I am missing something Damo, doing some research on him, said he was passed in for 75K at Magic Millions . Then sold for 11K  at the following August Inglis sales and won $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ 1.9 Million

If this is correct. This is fairytale stuff

I don't know about that side to the story but the story of the day and year so far is Spirit of Boom. His stock are winning, Trainers love them and they are selling like hotcakes when offered as yearlings. Eureka Stud purchased him for the incredible sum of just $1.3M which at the time was a gamble but now it is dirt cheap.

Spirit of Boom is very interesting. Looks like double Danehill is no problem for him. Inbreeding to Without Fear has had some success. Also note that a couple of his good ones carry Special, a full sister to Thatch, and SOB carries 2 lines of Thatch.
