Rare moment in the sun for long suffering Lions fan. Now I know they reckon Bolton is the best thing to arrive at Carlton since they installed a Soft Serve Icecream Machine in the changerooms but Bolton doesn't tag Zorko, he runs amok, Fagan on the other hand uses Rockliff to tag that imposter Gibbs to just 8 possessions...just saying. I think Fagan has been pretty good in taking on Mission Impossible.

I said before season started that Bolton was over rated but I must admit that Carlton have overall performed better than I expected.

Dockers are taking one step forward and two steps back at present but consistency should start to come next season.

Great servants Sandilands, Munday and Johnson won't be there in 2019 so the transition plans need to be in place.

Dockers won't be serious contenders if Spurr, Crozier, Sheriden and Tucker are regulars. Also think they should have brought Tabener in for Kerstens for the rest of the year and then made a call on his future.

Neither WA team in good shape at present but at least the Dockers have commenced the youth infusion, something the Eagles have not done under the misapprehension of being in a premiership window.

I suppose when your team is boring their supporters with massive goal hauls of 5 and 7 in the last two weeks you have to focus on hope. As false as it is.
Your gun recruits are crap. Even Brad Hill showed last night where his heart truly is. Lol
If your still persevering with Tabby, good luck with that.
Pizza boy Mcarthy is a ticking time bomb for when he checks out and looks for a career change.
I can't see a light at the Docker tunnel to be honest.
Prediction : Ross to coach elsewhere after next year, because after another dud season like the last two, false hope can only be stomached for so long. =))

The only reason "brand Fyfe" didn`t go was because other teams lost interest at the money he was wanting. That was because his form doesn`t even warrant All Australian discussion.

Matt Priddis was a worthy Brownlow Medal winner. Different class to Woewodin.

Ask Paul "aka Bruce Mcavaney" when was the last player in the AFL to have the most possessions and tackles in the same year. That is why he won the medal.

But it is time to go Pridda.

Are the corpoates taking bets on how many goals Freo will kick this week ?

I don`t know who they are playing but take the under whatever the number is. I would say on current form they would be lucky to kick 6.

  • ChariotsonfireChariotsonfire    3,025 posts
Kennedy kicked six and the Eagles still capitulated Detonator.

I do agree that kicking enough goals to win games is an issue but delivery into the forward line is compounding the problem at present.

You really lose credibility when you make ridiculous comments like those regarding Brad Hill who has been one of the Dockers most consistent this year. Surprisingly he has come through the elite kicking system at Hawthorn but has struggled to replicate that at the Dockers.

It's not enlightening Buffy..It is self appointed, specialist opinion, from a season in, season out frustrated football fan.......Its a daily serve of poor me and cos we cant win i'll just talk non stop so that whatever i do, my opinion will be heard... Even to the point of quoting someones post and adding the immense value that everyone wants added to an opinion on here.......

Dunghole saying "yep agree on all points" lol lol lol Really?????? Who gives a **** whether Dungholes blessing of an opinion is adding to the excitement of the site. Or adding some sort of approval to the written opinion.  I do however think we should all take his free advice - even though he sends it via pm!!!!! - Just don't read the rubbish.

Anyway on wards and upwards. I'll i sit here holding my breathe waiting for approval, opinion, blessings or whatever he does to justify my humble post being allowed on here..

Ooops Nearly forgot. lol lol lol....means i could have written whatever i want and its all okay..Its all a bit of fun...and i am sure it is for a lot of people

No idea to be honest. To win a Brownlow, you don't necessarily need to be the best player every single week, but mainly be the best player in your team, when your team wins (unless you have a 'blinder' playing in a 'crap' team, like Ablett was at the Suns or Judd at Carlton). In 2014, the Eagles won only 11 games, but for majority of these wins, he was clearly their best player and more importantly didn't have many other teammates taking votes off him. In the end, he got enough 2 or 3 vote games to win himself the Brownlow.

At the start of the 2017 season, Priddis had the 7th highest Brownlow votes of all current players.

    MOST BROWNLOW VOTES (current players)
    220 Ablett, S.Mitchell
    168 J.Selwood
    155 S.Thompson
    150 Pendlebury
    149 N.Riewoldt
    146 Priddis
    132 Dangerfield
    131 Hodge
    129 Franklin

Good stuff Paul. Technically Simon Black is correct but there is a bias that favours players in teams that make the finals as they get to play extra games and their stats are included. At the end of the 2002 home and away season Peter Bell had the most disposals and Troy Cook had the most tackles. Black played 3 extra games because Brisbane made the finals and finished with only 10 more disposals than Bell and 5 more tackles than Cook.

Good point @runyon, I didn't really go that in-depth to see how many of those disposals/tackles were made in the 'home & away' and 'finals'. I just might have to start offloading these requests in your direction in future.

Went to the Freo/Hawks game on Sat nite (believe me I will not get those 3 hours back).
Watched Fifi go up to Hodge shake his hand then marched his players off!
I thought Freo could of at least stay out there and clap Clarko off the field.

Hurn cannot captain deep in the backline!
Shuey a must for next year!

Zorko gets a week for that soft punch..........please pfffffft!
Martin should of got 10 weeks based on that!

This is where I reckon the Eagles problems stem , Simpson says we need to keep exposing our kids when we can, we are exposing some of our kids to the big lights.Yet they have played only one debutant all year (Kurt Mutimer). He then goes on to say Luke partington is coming on at East Perth apparently the kid has had a consistent crack at WAFL level, still not given a taste at elite level, and in his next breath says we got Josh Hill Sharrod Wellingham & Chris matsen who went well at the weekend . the later 3 all obviously experienced players who are due to age ,consistency lack of confidence not being able to cement a regular berth, they are the opposite to the young blokes he should be giving a crack now  seeming as though they may not make finals. Now more than ever give the young blokes a crack and let them adjust to the pace of AFL level and see if they have what it takes

For mine the Brownlow is overated - and Priddis is an average player at best

Not an Eagles supporter - but when they had that famed centreline of Mainwaring Kemp and Matera - well Priddis doesnt belong in that company - cant kick over a jam tin

Is he as good as Chris Lewis - i dont think he is is - what about Brett Heady - id have Heady every day of the week ahead of Priddis ,

When Bartel won his Brownlow in 2007 - he didnt win the Geelong Best and Fairest that year  - Ablett streeted it in . Bartel was a good player - but wasnt in the same league as Ablett

The Brownlow at the moment is just a midfielders award - just like it was a ruckmans award in the 70s - Len Thompson - Gary Dempsey - Graham Moss - Barry Round - Graham Teasedale

The best player  of the last 40 years by the length of the Randwick straight  Wayne Carey ( who got ordinary Nth Melb teams a couple of flags) didnt win a Brownlow - that sums up the Brownlow

Leave Bambi alone. He was a great player who sadly has come to the end of his playing days.
He has been average this year because Father Time has come early.
In his Brownlow and runner up Brownlow years he was magnificent.
    Long live Bambi !!!!!!
