the trick is getting access or being let in on the things lloyd says, apart his post interview after the cup last year i'd very rarely if ever heard him speak or seen an interview and he made it even harder by not allowing some of the jockeys who rode his horses to not speak to certain media post race

In the after race interview Garry portelli made mention of Michael Costa, the young trainer who was training in NSW and now trains in Qld. Was the horse first trained by Michael?

I think there is something to be said about getting rolled the start before the slipper and everyone jumping off. Happened last year with capitalist and again this year. Im happy for Garry Portelli he seems a nice guy and to do that with a 20k horse, good on him. Thats the sort of thing that gets owners on board.

Gary had the stalls across from Hawkes at the track and every morning Id chat to Gary as he waited with his horses as he had no staff, his the horses he had still all raced out in the west as he didn't have anything good enough to race in town.
He was a real goos guy to chat with.
Years later he built up a bit of a good team and I tried to have a chat with him one day but apparently he was to busy and some lady said I could chat to his brother or someone like that as Gary doesn't take calls.
    Sold me then and there.
