    you talk about spending...every city has to spend to flourish..look at London with its docklands. hells bells the premier on NSW..jack lang I think went to London in the middle of the depression to borrow unheard of amounts to build the SHB...he was howled down.

    the opera house was poo-pooed by the same unwashed.

    you HAVE TO SPEND to create a vibrant city...the debt will be paid off, no problems.

    i'd say a few of you have mortgages and you know they will be paid off even if you decide to install a pool for an extra 20k.

    its all relevant. Barnett has spent well...our Labour friends just SPEND...sadly people have short memories....WAInc ring any bells? the catholic mafia.

    McGowan seems a decent bloke but the cancerous strain of Unions is waiting to run in his veins.

    This stadium has had a few hiccups along the way.
    All the brown tinted glass on the city side had to be replaced due to it not being the correct product. This I believe came from China. ( nothing new there as most glass comes from China. Too expensive in oz)
    A number of boutique detailing in certain areas of the stadium involving a number of trades have been changed for cheaper options involving one trade because costs are blowing out.
    When unions insist that workers MUST be transported by bus from the lunch/mess area to the job site (a walk of about 100m) because there is hint of rain in the air you understand where a lot of unbudgeted costs come from.

    Here we go a couple of clown union bashers blaming all the problems of the world on unions.
    Wake up unions are the only thing stopping Australia having a terrible system like the USA with huge amounts of people working for wages below the poverty line and they are failing at it I hope all your kids are geniuses or you leave them millions to live on?
    Meanwhile greedy multinational companies like BHP, RIO and BROOKFIELD cry poor and continue to make massive profits and send small operators/subbies broke. Beyond belief what people will believe they go on unchecked while morons at BBQ's stand around running down unions please.

    When middle aged women get off the train at Murdoch train station and do the 400m walk to Fiona Stanley to do an honest days work, I don't see shuttle buses lined up at tax payers expense because of a few drops of rain.

    Goose. Having been in the building industry for most of my long working life both offsite and onsite let me assure you there is not a lot of fun involved when dealing with the BLF/CFMEU. They make the rules and you do as you are told or go broke! Subject closed from me.

    ^^^my next door neighbour was founder of a large successful commercial building company. the stories he told eg cash to union heavyweights to ensure "smooth sailing" on certain projects.

    Matt Birneys article on page 18 of todays West should be re-published on the front page of every newspaper in the state until Saturday morning....

    Falcon you totally fail to understand that business "types" are doing dodgy self interest deals all the time when the unions have a go and get a win there is total outrage for some strange reason envy probably.
    Constantly hear stories of labour hire companies and others bribing certain people or doing shonky deals for favours on projects never gets airtime. When a couple of bad eggs in a union do it the world has ended always amazes me why some people get so offended that blue collar workers could possibly sometimes earn a good wage. Why would it upset you so much? jealousy?

    :-?  What percentage of Barneys projects have been built by 457 'workers' being paid a cup of rice a day, of which 90% gets sent home to feed the family?

    Maybe @thefalcon could ask his poor suffering business pals when they park the Bertram up - after all, it is them that employ them $-)

    Totally incorrect Leggo. Everyone knows our "rice loving workers" are here without any visa's whatsoever let alone 457's.
    The "457" workers love Guinness and will be having an R.D.O on the 17th March.
    I reckon that will be written into the terms of employment overseen by our union friends.
    But I stand corrected if anyone in the know can dispute it. :D

    b) prepared to do a job such as a cleaner in hotels (where the majority of workers are non Australians)
    c) Have the skills to do the jobs. (but that is another issue)

    A.) in all modern societies there is a constant 4% that are transient unemployed. Either taking a break, between contracts, or unwilling to hold down a regular job. So i'd say 2-3% are willing to work

    C.) think we're both batting on the same side here. The training of adults and job preparedness of kids treading water in the educational system is a systemic failure of successive governments.

    In summary, ban 457 visas for a 24month period, and generate local employment growth, whilst introducing serious vocational training and realistic job training at all secondary schools. We have a generation of people who feel that they are going to leave school and be given a 100k a year job doing nothing.....thus the inability to fill starter level jobs for people to enter the workforce.

    they get this 100k a year idea from the clowns that run this joint
    the assistant treasurer came out only a week or two ago and states the key to housing affordability is to just get a high paying job , thats coming from the mouth of a head bean counter running our finances

    I hear you, Mike but the great unwashed may wake on sat. morning and think "lets stay with the bloke who knows what he's doing not those unionists who would not have a clue".

    don't we EVER learn both federally and state...labor are incompetent fools they are fiscal cripples.

    they will stuff up and in 4 years time the libs will be back with a HUGE, almost insurmountable deficit.
