Giddy-Up only ever give their top pick a rating of 100 (as far as I know). Sounds like a typo to me, especially considering ROCKMENOW was a $1.60 favourite.

Yeah, because I'm knowledgeable about Giddy-Up I must work for RWWA. Jeez.

I messaged them on Twitter about this when it came out in December, that's how I know.

I'm mean it's just indefensible and misleading to write place chance next to the lowest rating horse in the race along with prices like $180...fair dinkum.

Giddyup is a ratings based form guide that provides analysis and prices for racing and sport.

Their Thoroughbred and Greyhound form is done by analysts who view the races which then produces the computer generated form guide and prices based on the viewed analysis (overall form is reasonable).

All City and the majority of races on Sky are covered however races not on Sky are generally not analyzed.

Giddyup doesn`t do Harness form and the form and analysis is computer generated.

This may change in the future.

Not sure a lot of punters actually understand ratings based analysis and the prices that go with it.

Tabform (previously) and the majority of form guides produce a betting market hoping to be close to the tote or fixed prices, Giddyup produces a betting market that tries to predict "unders" and "overs" (similar to carey`s thoroughbred prices).

That difference and the Harness form being computer generated are the major issues.

there was an ex forum member from PTT here years ago that was the W.A rep that produced the giddyup ratings/prices - back when he did them they we're a lot more reliable than the results you guys have been speaking of... I had some of my best collects on novelties and quaddies using these prices albeit 5+ years ago

Yes, I am only talking about the Harness form, I don't know the Thoroughbred side of things, they may be okay....these days, I am just a casual observe of thoroughbreads and rarely either attend or bet on them. I understand ratings and the difference between their "prices" and predicted prices of TABform, no problem there but the Harness stuff generated by Giddy Up is riddled with nonsensical stuff as highlighted above. If they don't do Harness Form and rely only on computer algorithms, why are they using it in TABform? What they have produced thus far is deserving of the condemnation and ridicule because it is garbage.

Not aware of any outside form companies who do all form for all 3 codes and all states.

Not even aware of any reputable Harness form that covers all of WA let alone all of Australia that could be relied on 52 weeks per year.

Agree with the criticism and they should have delayed the introduction until either Giddyup produced proper Harness form or they found someone who could.

Would have been obviously been cheaper for 1 company to provide all the form but if it is inadequate they should be called out.

Bottom line is - If they made serious money long term - they wouldn't be selling them. Who would?

Finding an edge is extremely difficult. Perhaps the best way to use them is to assist one in eliminating, identifying or supporting your own thoughts.

I've roughly scribbled down their tips and prices for Ascot today so will see how they go.

Their "tips" are actually the top 4 rated based on price so if the winner comes outside of their top 4 rated runners its not necessarily wrong.

Betting using ratings based analysis will only be successful with multiple bets in individual races and long term success will come from sustained betting over an extended period of time, provided the analysis is accurate.

I agree with that FM.

I don't use the TAB Form for doing handicapping any more, I made a decision long ago that I would do my own handicapping, from online. This decision came as I was sick of spunking money on the back of other peoples handicapping. If I was going to win or lose money it would be from my own homework. I will still take in thoughts and narration from some tipsters (sometimes from TABForm) but primarily it is from my analysis from CRIS and other online sources. My opinion is TAB Form has nowhere near enough data to carry out thorough handicapping Ie. generally a maximum of the previous 5 races are listed, which in my opinion is not enough.

I can understand that many people do rely on the TAB Form so they really need to fix this issue.

As for Giddy Up, I agree as most have said it is garbage. At the very least it is confusing. I do not trust this, or any similar service for the following reason, even if it is software that analyses the data and spits out its handicaps, the software parameters have to be set by a person/people, in which case it still makes it based on human opinion. If that makes sense.

Lastly, we've all seen (been?) the guy in the pub with the TAB Form open in front of him swearing and carrying on when a horse loses that a tipster has recommended. I choose not to be that person.

Using their longest priced runner/s can be treated as scratchings especially if your in the same thought that that particular horse doesn't have a winning hope

or more so for me is looking back at the tipster column and seeing one of them has tipped a horse on top or in his top 4 that has won at odds that's cost me the quaddie... sometimes it does pay to take notice not so much follow religiously but keep an eye on what the pros are tipping to us

I had another look at this one and the prices were the same for Race 7 as Race 8 in the West so I would assume that it is human error at the input stage.

The ratings on Race 7 are definitely closer to the mark if you ignore the prices displayed.

Sorry lads, got caught up with a few things. They had a good day but so did most. Can only go on closing prices but will try and find best the flucs for the meeting and see how may you could have got on at the odds...... just working through Sportsbets and for what they are worth

5 winners picked on top but only one at the required price and so by rights - 4 bets for 1 winner @$3.20 although many would have got on Keepers as within 10% of asking price.

In Race5 - winner not selected in top 4.
In Race6 winner selected but rated $7 with top fluc of $4.60
In Race7 winner not selected in top 4

There were a number of horses that met the odds criteria so, if you were solely backing for a win, it would have been a losing day.

can't handle the garbage we as readers of the west australian are suddenly getting, friday no fields for esperance which last time i checked was in WA and was on sky but not in paper so unless you check online have no clue they are actually racing, also cranbourne and cantubury were also racing at nite but who knew .. and alas aparantly there might be a big meeting down mt barker way tomorrow but hell not going by the paper, only guessing turnover might be abit less on all those meetings as we don't know there on and can't sit down and look at the fields we don't bother. ok people will say go online which is fine but i tell you alot of people especially the older folk can't be bothered with doing that as they find it annoying, they love to have the paper in front of them, anyway just my thoughts and hearing views from alot of people who arn't happy, also geraldton on next sunday so please people just a heads up its on so please bet and go online because pretty sure it won't be in the paper.....

Your right Falc but Ernie has never been famous for making rash statements or treading on toes. Times are a changing. Normally my Friday routine is to go for an early walk and time it to hit the local garage just after 6am to pick up the TABform, prior to heading home, putting on the kettle and then settling in for a quick 15 min R&R by flicking through the fields for the weekend.

As of today - I've made the decision to no longer bypass the garage and to cease my purchase of the form paper as it no longer offers me what I want. Its time for me to truly embrace the digital world and so as I'm sipping on my coffee, I'll be flicking through the free PDF's supplied by the NZ TAB on my ipad.

So, with their decision to change the format and distribution of the TABForm, I'm also making a conscious decision to change the way I spend my $5.50. I'm thinking I'll need to allocate a small amount to printing costs as I do like having the main fields physically in front of me on a punt day and so I'm thinking $1.50 a week will go close to covering that . That leaves me $4 to spend. My goal is to put it in the piggy bank each week until their is enough to make a meaningful purchase eg every 5 weeks a nice bottle of Pepperjack shiraz wouldn't go astray. Whatever I do, I'll be making sure that it doesn't get spent at the TAB.

As we were told Giddyup are not computer generated prices but done by a dedicated group of form analysts who take every thing into consideration how in gods name could anybody who saw Jetoomys last run price it at $17 and leave it out of their quaddy selections.

Saying nothing more, I'm boring and repetitive but I had some people knock on the front door offering to restore my roof this morning ......yeah, yeah, come in spinner......they had more credibility that Giddy Up ....by the way, my roof is in good repair. The "roof restorers"...a couple of shady looking Mediterranean types were also told to Giddy Up off the property and their license plate number found its way to the Manji Desk Sergeant........dedicated group of form analysts....what absolute humbug.
