This is the best football that the Eagles have played under Simpson given the quality of the opposition.

Never seen Hawthorn fumble so much in any game in the last 5 years.

Eagles fans will be holding their breath waiting for the Naitanui diagnosis.

Frawley is a very average player

Awesome win last night, best game they've played against decent opposition all year, love the way they made use of their hands in the first half, quick hands in those centre clearances and to get out the back line using 20+ metre handballs where they'd usually kick it and turn it over, not sure if it was a game plan or because of the duey wet ground but it was brilliant to watch..

And as dungy has mentioned, sad to say I reckon it was our last win of the season with Nic Nat out for the season doing his ACL

Hawks although not so reliant on their ruckman will be hurting with the loss of Ceglar out for the season aswell

As much as some of us have the dig at Nic Nat, disappointing if he is lost to footy for a period, but unfortunately he is not the first and not the last that will go down with injuries like this. Must be hard to look back on your career at its end and know you lost a season or so in injuries like Fyfe, Menzel, O'Meara etc

I said the Weagles wouldn't win any of their last 3 games, but if they did then they'd be in really good form goign into the finals.

After 2 unexpected wins, they showed good form last night. Yep nicnat is a big loss, but Lycett lifted his game to a higher standard last night too....both in the ruck and around the ground, whether back or forward.

Bring Brown in to play that ruck support role for Lycett, as Brown can also play big around the ground. If Lycett can produce 70 minutes of footy like he played last night, it may give the smalls enough of it to get them over the line.

Then again i really dont care. I've just had 2 great games of footy to watch over the last 2 weeks and whatever the next month holds, they'll be a better team next year, knowing that they can play that good/hard footy.

    Can't say I disagree.
Showed a lot the last two.
Unfortunately for them / you though they're still going to finish seventh (maybe 6th if beat Adelaide) and you know what that means...

Eagles will struggle next year without natanui.

Rio. Brown as a support ruckman. They tried that and he never got a touch and was thrashed in the ruck. And got dropped. Gee Gaff is going well isnt he. Lets get rid of him.
  • RIORIO    14,902 posts
No-one will ever convince me gaff is worthy of being in that team. We tried all the back up ruckman as well for the exact same result. So whats the other option?? At least he has a reason to play well
  • buffybuffy    277 posts
Fk me. Gaff not worthy of being in that team? As Dungy would say you simply have NFI.
  • RIORIO    14,902 posts
Why do you guys think the opposition dont tag him out of games?? he has about 30 possessions a game, nearly every game..So the opposition let him go as they know 10 will be ineffective and 10 will go to them. the other 10 are acceptable for an outside runner. And some of those 10 are really good and look wonderful...whippy do. Add to that he cant brake a tackle, lay a tackle, or use his right foot and he is a passenger...If they had a out runner that was effective at least 50% of the time, then they wouldn't have to rely on winning every contested ball..

Now back to the ruck situation genius......whats the option that has worked with nicnat out all season??
  • buffybuffy    277 posts
Some things become obvious over time. Firstly i suggest you have never played the game . Secondly it appears you have never watched an AFL game and third you just like to contradict everything and everybody. Gaff last night had 38 possesions. 18 kicks and 20 handballs of which 5 were errors and went at 93%. From memory Brown played 2 games as the backup ruckman when Nicnat was out. Thankyou for the genius title but i dont really think i deserve it as i am only just a normal footy follower. OVER AND OUT.
  • RIORIO    14,902 posts
oh how wrong you are...i played for many years. I've watched for many years, and once again Gaff had around 30+ possessions and wasn't tagged...I pose the question once again, why doesn't he get tagged every week by the opposition? Cos his possessions week in, week out are trash possessions.

Um yes those are Browns stats...you failed on the genius quota however, as once again you didn't suggest a alternative.......and I'm not even a footy follower..Well i follow a bit, so i can annoy the crap out of dungy and my dorkers supporter mates, but not a regular follower

Josh Kennedy now eight goals ahead with one round to go in the race for the Coleman Medal. If he wins it, he will be the first player since Fraser Gehrig (2004 & 2005) to win it in consecutive years.

FFS HAVENT YOU NOTICED THAT NOBODY GETS TAGGED ANY MORE? Taggers went out with Ryan Crowley and when Ross Lyon realised it didnt work anymore. Maybe thats the reason he doesnt get tagged. What are Browns stats please? Maybe Gaff could be the alternative ruckman cos he is no good at anything else.

gaff cant break a tackle, i doubt he'd be strong enough to stand alongside a man, let along compete against one. What was Hutch's job last night??? So there are more teams than the Dorkers in the comp, and whatever changes Ross made this year i doubt whether too many people would follow his lead!!!?!?!?!?

Genius still cant come up with an alternative to Brown. I do apologise for my early suggestion of your football intelligence and now admit that you are correct...Your not a genius, as you cant answer a simple question.

Browns stats are on the weagles AFL page somewhere..I think it is 2 games this year, average about 10 disposal and 4 or 5 marks a game....Would battle to jump high enough to be a ruckmans a55hole, but he can play big at both ends of the ground, can go in the ruck for 4-5 minutes a quarter to give Lycett a rest...also if he plays his heart out and does some good, he may have a career past October this year..not with the eagles, but he may get a bit of interest from one of the other clubs...perhaps even the Dorkers could use him?? the other rucks the weagles have cant mark, struggle to win hitouts and weren't up to AFL grade
