I'm not sure if the actual numbers in work in any one time are available?

However I'd bet London to a brick that just about every trainer ( not the clever ones though) who thinks his/her horse is any good will have them in work now - to have them ready for the summer carnival.
Most will not be competitive against the top liners and will struggle to to run better than midfield. They will all come to the end of their preps Nov/Dec and will be tipped out and as you correctly state field sizes just after xmas will be dismally small.

All I'm saying is the same 4 or 5 trainers will be pocketing the bulk of the prizemoney on offer in this period - maybe a few others should leave them in the paddock a bit longer and go around when they have a more realistic chance of winning a race

AND
$200k bonus for any owners of a horse that wins all 3...And the title of GRAND Master.

If your going to put up $3mil, what is another $350k!!

Just on the barrier issue, I've got to say I reckon the cut-away at Belmont is a great idea, can't recall seeing it at any other major metro track. Makes for safer riding and gives more horses s chance.

Don't recall seeing it at Ascot. Or have I missed it?

I'd be hoping that would be a big enough incentive to get a few trainers to bring a small team over Nota....but if not, then if he can put that show on with one horse, then he - and all of them - would deserve it...

The jock and trainer could win all 3 on different horses, but the owner only gets his bonus if the one horse wins all.....target audience, the best jocks and trainers

Blaming trainers is a cop out for the administrators.

I don't have an axe to grind and am not on the "Blame PR regardless of how stupid it makes me look" bandwagon

2 raceday programmes attached - one for this Saturday and one for 26th November.

Pretty much the same.

It will be interesting to see the difference in the number of runners between the 2 meetings. If history repeats there will be more in November.

What will be more interesting is the PR bashing (some will have) reasoning behind it =))

programmers have made it near on impossible for a horse to win all 3- would have to be a freak!!

1600m then down to 1200m and back up to 1800m

i didn't read that far...just assumed it'd be sequential increased race...Another silly error by me...Would be a special horse that got all 3 if it went 1200 , 1600 and then 1880 any way.

As i said somewhere the target should be the good trainers and the jocks being rewarded if they come over her with serious horses. If a trainer gets serious they'd bring 2 good horses over 1600-1800 and another 2 for the Winterbottom

So the railway is still on the 19th? I'm more than likely to save the $$$ and go to 'A day on the green' aka big day out '99 the next day. If it were still super saturday and had the winterbottom I'd do both. Good on pr for trying something new however. I'd be happy to eat my words if it's a success and gets a crowd and more supporters to the races.

TO Fastmoney. Total horses that raced at all venues in WA in 2010-11 season was 24021 Total 2011-12 was 23965. Total 2015-16 was 22964.
