2015-16 Season Top 10 - Trainers

West Australian Racing
Grant Williams gets a mention so I thought it'd be appropriate to post this in our local section..

Excuse my ignorance but when it says he's collected 4.5 mill in prize money that would mean the total before he takes his 5% cut

^^^^ must ask yourself what the training fees are...

I heard along time ago, that Bob isn't big on fees, due to the quality of horses he gives his trainers. I didn't believe it when i heard it and i dont now, but i wouldn't be surprised if he is paying less than a lot of us!!!

If Durrant isn't there then how do his runners run with him credited as the trainer. A joke in my opinion.

Jason Miller (probably him) should be credited as trainer or Daddy Geoff Durrant (probably assistant) if not Jason as trainer

Rumours that he only pays a certain amount but I reckon that's fair look at the % winnings Willis and Durrants take home it's no different to dealing with a major account in sales and they buy bigger volume so they get better pricing

Bob Peters is very smart. If he does have a fixed price that'd be extra smart. Then the trainer has no incentive to keep slow ones in work. The trainer is highly incentivised to accrue prizemoney. If the trainer wants to give any horses extra special treatment then they do so out of their own pocket. If they do anything illegal, it is at a distance from Bob and he would have clean hands.
I'm sure it came as a huge shock to Bob when Greg Harper got busted.

I stand to be corrected but I didn't think it was Bobs horse Greg Harper was busted with was it. If so which one? Once again I stand to be corrected.

I could be wrong, but from what I have been told, Bob pays the blacksmith, vet fees and nomination/acceptances/scratching. It is 2nd hand

Greg Harper was improving everything that went into his stable. Bob Peters gave GH some horses. That is all. Harper won a Group 1 for Bob Peters with Old Nick.

If Bob was surprised or shocked, he was the only one in Australia that was. Multiple prior transgressions might have given a hint of what was to come.

Having just rewatched the Rocket Racer fiasco, it makes me very nauseous watching that poor animal reefing and pulling the arms out of the jock the whole journey ...and we are talking 3200m here...on what I recall was a stinking hot day and then taking off like a scalded cat 6 or 800m out and winning untouched by 8 lengths....the darkest of dark, dark days for any form of racing in WA and an unforgettable blight...Number 1 in the Hall of Shame....and topped off by the "small change on it" and shouting the bar caper. What ill founded hubris and hide that man possessed!!! And still, you will find people who defend him..."oh, what a generous bloke, never met a more hail and hearty fellow, loved a good time, leviathan punter, put WA on the map"....absolute crap.

Greg Harper won more than 1 group 1s for Bob Peters and in pacing and gallops he has won 21 group 1s. Regardless of everyone knocking him, and there are plenty, he must have some idea. How many others have won that many in W.A? He has never had a positive swab with ANY of Bob Peters horses.

he was onto the tricks long b4 anyone else at the gallops. In fact the Red Hots have always been a couple of years ahead of the gallops
